Get your popcorn and tissues ready for the Blue Bloods series finale! Star Vanessa Ray teased what’s to come for her character, Eddie Janko-Reagan, in the show’s final episode.
“For Eddie, I think the season ends on a complicated note and it’s life affirming, I would say for sure,” she told TV Insider in an interview published on October 18. “But there’s a lot of heart wrenching things that happen in that final episode that the audience is going to, hopefully, go on that journey with us and they will fall more in love with us, quite frankly. I know I did reading the final episode and filming it and everything. I was like, I’m just so in love with these characters. It’s amazing.”
Additionally, at the time, she hinted about some things that were still to come for Eddie in the final episodes of season 14.
“There’s so much. I don’t think the audience is ready for all of the things that are going to be thrown at them for this final season,” Vanessa, 43, teased. “Our executive producer, Kevin Wade, said to me on the phone before we started the season, listen, this is going to be like we’re playing the hits. We’re playing the Blue Bloods hits. We’re going to go as hard as we can, tell the best stories we can, as we always do.”
“But knowing it was the final season, it was like there were things that we were able to just not have to hold so close to the vest in some ways. I’ve never been in a situation like this where we’re shooting knowing that it’s ending,” she dished. “So every scene, every word is layered with — there’s double meaning in everything and very heartbreaking and a lot of tears and a lot of things. So you’re going to see sides of Eddie that I have previously not been in a position where she’s needed to play. And just like you see her in control, you see her out of control. It’s all the things.”
Viewers cannot wait to see what’s next for Eddie and husband Jamie Reagan, played by Will Estes. “For Eddie and Jamie as a couple, you have to wait and see,” Vanessa teased of what will happen to the power couple.
With every series finale on dramatic show’s, there’s always a question of whether or not there will be a major character death. Obviously, the cast has been pretty tight lipped about this, but several of the show’s stars revealed that they did shoot a season 14 scene in a cemetery.
“The last scene, of course, was at a funeral, and so we weren’t even in the house the day that we wrapped it up,” Len Cariou told TV Insider on November 1. “I was finished that day myself and several of the others, Tom [Selleck]‘s group of guys, Bridget [Moynahan] and Steve [Schirripa], and the others, they were done that day, too, before the rest of the episode was finished.”
