Topher Grace has played many well-known characters over the years. From being a part of Spider-Man 3 as Eddie Brock to starring in Denis Quaid’s In Good Company, he has certainly explored all that Hollywood has to offer. However, one of his most iconic roles to date has to be That ’70s Show.
The series has been getting some bad press recently, with everything that happened with Danny Masterson, Ashton Kutcher, and Mila Kunis. However, when this is put aside, there is no denying that the series was culturally significant.
Several actors who featured in the series became Hollywood legends in the years to come. Among them was also Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who went on to become an icon.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Time in the 70s
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has made quite a name for himself. Although his career took off in the rom-com classic, 10 Things I Hate About You, he has certainly come a long way since then. Although the actor has become most well-known for his role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises and the painfully real 500 Days of Summer, he has starred in more than a handful of iconic projects to last a lifetime.
While he has become somewhat of a Hollywood legend now, there was a time when he was like most struggling actors, trying to make a name for themselves by playing extras in projects. Many may not remember that before playing these beloved characters, he starred in one That ’70s Show episode.
Appearing in the very first season of the series, he played the role of Buddy Morgan, who was a friend of Eric’s. However, his character was notably different than most in the series, having a crush on Topher Grace’s character.
Topher Grace Is a Bad Kisser?
At one point in the episode, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character ends up kissing Topher Grace’s Eric Forman. The kiss was iconic in more ways than one, even though fans weren’t all too happy about it. In fact, their kiss ended up setting the record and becoming the first gay kiss on North American prime-time TV.
While it was certainly a positive for the pair, it would seem that Gordon-Levitt did not have the best time during this kiss. During an interview with the Advocate, the actor was asked to comment on whether Grace was a good kisser or not. While most actors would take the safe route and simply say that their co-star is a good kisser, it would seem that this was not Gordon-Levitt’s style.
[Laughs] Probably one the worst kissers I’ve ever kissed. You know, he’s a dude, and girls are awesome to kiss, I gotta say.
He outright mentioned that his kiss with Grace was one of the worst kisses of his life. Although he did not mention if this was because of his co-star’s technique, he did add that the fact that he was a man made it difficult for him to like the kiss.
Oddly enough, Laura Prepon, who played his main love interest in the series, spoke along similar lines during an interview (via TMz). She confessed that her co-star on Orange is the New Black, Taylor Schilling, was a better kisser than him.
That ’70s Show is available for streaming on Peacock.
