1 week agoNews PlusComments Off on Abrupt career turnaround for ex-SPFL star as he prepares to swap Motherwell for Monaco and ‘terms agreed’ on £12.5m deal
FORMER Motherwell loanee Mika Biereth is on the brink of becoming the most expensive January transfer deal of the window, according to reports.
The striker spent six months at Fir Park at the start of last season.
Arsenal sent Mika Biereth on loan twice last season[/caption]
He hit six goals in 15 games for Motherwell and they hoped to keep him[/caption]
But Arsenal recalled the frontman and sent him on loan to Sturm Graz[/caption]
But in a remarkable turnaround he could make the move from Motherwell to MONACO in the space of 12 months – via London and Austria.
The French giants are said to be on the brink of a mega-money deal for the 21-year-old who moved to Sturm Graz on loan from Arsenal a year ago.
They made that move permanent in the summer but 11 goals in 16 games of the Austrian Bundesliga season has thrust him into the transfer spotlight – with Monaco’s Austrian boss leading the chase.
Monaco’s move has become even more urgent after another ex-Arsenal striker – Folarin Balogun – was injured.
The USA international is out with a recurrence of his shoulder injury back in October.
But though their need is pressing, Graz are claimed to be holding out for a fee a fee closer to €20million (£16.7m) – marking a €16million (£13.4m) profit on their summer outlay.
It’s a huge turnaround for the forward who spent a month of his Motherwell spell stuck on the sidelines nursing a knee injury yet still struck six times in 15 appearances for the Steelmen.
They had hoped to keep the Danish international longer, however the Gunners recalled him at the halfway stage of his loan and re-negotiated a fresh exit – then a £4m transfer.
It’s a move that has worked well for all parties – except Motherwell.
At the time ‘Well boss Stuart Kettlewell said: “This is hugely disappointing and a decision that is completely out of our hands.
“Mika has made a huge impact in his time here and has been well loved by the supporters. Despite this news, his loan has been a major success for player.
“He’d had a loan spell abroad where he didn’t enjoy his time. That has been the opposite here and you can see by the amount of goals and assists, he’s developed well.
“The coaching staff have done an excellent job here in working with Mika and clearly, with interest in the player rising, we have gave him a platform and exposure.”
Birerth said: “I’ve loved every minute of my time in Scotland and felt like I built a real connection with everyone.”
1 week agoNews PlusComments Off on Scots Tory leader branded as the ‘shadowy face of populism’
SCOTTISH Tory leader Russell Findlay has been branded as the “shadowy face of populism” in a fiery clash with John Swinney.
At First Minister’s Questions, Mr Findlay mocked the SNP leader for having urged his political opponents to back the Nats’ Scottish Budget in order to thwart the “populist” billionaire Elon Musk.
He described Mr Swinney’s claims as “ludicrous” as he labelled his Nats’ rival the leader of “Scotland’s populist party”.
Mr Findlay told MSPs: “John Swinney said this week that if his Budget doesn’t pass, we are playing right into the hands of Elon Musk. Yes, you heard that right.
“So, the SNP’s Budget will cause misery to hardworking Scots and struggling businesses, but in the mind of Scotland’s populist First Minister, that’s a price we all must pay to defeat the shadowy forces of populism.
“Was it John Swinney’s New Year’s resolution to distract from his failings by making ludicrous claims such as this?”
But, hitting back at his Scottish Tory rival, Mr Swinney said: “I can see the shadowy face of populism right in front of me just now.”
Mr Findlay responded: “It’s really something to hear John Swinney of all people preaching against populism – the leader of Scotland’s populist party, the party of blaming others, sowing division, fantasy promises of easy fixes.
“John Swinney sounds like a serial arsonist suddenly warning people about the risk of fire.”

LOVE Island fans will be pleased to know that the show’s daily podcast is back for All Stars.
Love Island: The Morning After is returning for another series, however, one of the show’s stars is missing from the presenter line-up.
Love Island All Stars is back for another series[/caption]
Chris Taylor has stepped down from hosting the Love Island: Morning After podcast[/caption]
Chris is too busy rehearsing for Dancing On Ice[/caption]
Over the years, the daily podcast has proved to be a huge hit with fans.
Over the years, it has been presented by a whole host of stars and former Islanders.
However, The Sun can exclusively reveal that because the former Islander is now busy taking part in Dancing On Ice, he is unable to do the show this year.
Instead India will be joined by popular 2019 Islander Amy Hart, who’s ex-boyfriend Curtis Pritchard is actually appearing on All Stars.
A source told us: “Chris is gutted he’s not hosting it this year but he’ll be way too busy with Dancing On Ice.
“Amy Hart and Indiyah Polack are taking the reigns and Chris hopes he’ll jump on as a guest at some point.”
Before Chris hosted the show, I’m A Celeb winner Sam Thompson hosted the show.
However, following his jungle win in 2023, the reality star has become too busy to do the podcast anymore.
All of the Islanders, who have appeared across series two to 11 of the ITV2dating hit, were once able to step forward for who they fancied and choose their pairs themselves.
But The Sun revealed that for Love Island All Stars, the fans have now got the chance to decide who will be matched with who on Day One.
Voting opened at 7.30am this morning, and fans cast their vote on ITV‘s Love Island app.
Sam Thompson previously hosted the Love Island podcast[/caption]
Coleen told the foursome that the ITV show is the only one she had ever considered signing up to because “I’ve watched it for years and loved it”.
However, once in the jungle, Coleen said she almost quit due to all the ‘sex chat and swearing’ among the other campmates.
“I’m glad I did it,” Coleen admitted. “But a few days in, I thought, ‘What am I doing here? I thought, ‘I could walk’.
“I was sitting there and I had all these big characters singing and dancing around me and I was thinking, ‘What am I going to bring to this jungle? I’m just me’.
“My dad told me not to swear when I went in there, but they were all talking about sex and everything. I was thinking, ‘I can’t do this. I need to go and walk away’.
“You know where you think, ‘This is not me’.”
Thankfully, Coleen stuck with it and decided to stay put after getting to know all her campmates individually.
The WAG even ended up making it to the final, losing out at the last hurdle to winner and McFly star, Danny Jones.
And despite enjoying her jungle stint, the star says she wouldn’t persuade her hubby to give I’m A Celebrity a go – as she thinks he wouldn’t bother doing the Bushtucker trials.
“I don’t I’d encourage Wayne to go in,” Coleen admitted. “I’m quite strong. I’m not fazed by much.
“If I’ve got something to do, I get on and do it. If you’re not going to stick, there’s no point going in.”
Coleen has ruled out ever returning to the jungle[/caption]

1 week agoNews PlusComments Off on I was on Naked Attraction – I couldn’t believe how long you actually have to be nude for
A NAKED Attraction star has lifted the lid on what it’s really like to appear on the hit Channel 4 show – and revealed just how long contestants are expected to be in the nude.
The daring dating series, hosted by Anna Richardson, has been shocking audiences since 2016 with its risqué concept.
Stars on Naked Attraction have to stand around in the nude for longer than viewers might think[/caption]
Gavin has revealed some behind the scenes secrets from the show[/caption]
Singletons strip down completely as a potential date judges them on their body, bit by bit, before the pair head off to see if sparks fly.
But behind the scenes, the experience is far more intense than it appears on screen.
A former contestant named Gavin recently spoke about his time on the show, revealing that the process is a lot more grueling than viewers might think.
Gavin explained: “It’s a long day. They do some hair and make up and then you get to meet the people you’re up against.
“You’ve got about two hours of standing in a box until it all starts.
“It ended up being from seven in the morning to three in the afternoon to film half an hour of television.”
He added: “They come round and take loads of pictures for the mash-ups. It was quite a lengthy process, but enjoyable.”
Contestants in the lineup reportedly have to remain nude for the majority of the 12-hour filming process
While this might seem daunting for many, Gavin seemed to enjoy the unique experience of featuring on the show.
Thankfully for the clothed contestant choosing their date, the experience is slightly less intense.
Reports suggest that they only need to be nude for about 15 minutes of the day, making their role seem comparatively easier.
Host Anna Richardson has previously shared some hilarious moments from her time on Naked Attraction.
On the Andy Jaye Podcast, she recalled an incident where a male contestant got a little too excited during filming.
She shared: “We did have a couple of seasons ago, there was a young man who I think might have been in the pink pod. He was getting a little bit excited about what was about to happen.
“So our lovely floor manager, Dave the floor manager, had to go ‘come on’ and just had to escort him off the floor for a little while, just to calm down. And then he was brought back onto set.
“It always happens. Boys being boys, you can’t control your anatomy, can you? So, there’s been a little bit of excitement.”
1 week agoNews PlusComments Off on Watch the hilarious moment The Traitors fans think ‘pantomime villain’ Linda let one slip during Claudia Winkleman chat
VIEWERS were left giggling after Wednesday night’s episode of The Traitors – after catching the moment when they reckon contestant Linda accidentally let one slip.
Even worse, it came during an intense chat with host Claudia Winkleman on the beloved BBC show.
The Traitors fans claim to have heard Linda accidentally fart during Wednesday night’s episode[/caption]
It happened as host Claudia Winkleman had an intense chat with Traitors Linda and Minah in the turret[/caption]
When she told the pair that they had the option to recruit another Faithful to become a Traitor[/caption]
After joining Linda and fellow Traitor Minah in the turret, Claudia shared a joke with the “surviving and thriving” pair, before getting down to business.
“Now Traitors…” she began.
“I have some rather exciting news”.
As the camera panned back, a noise that sounded suspiciously like a fart appeared to come from underneath retired opera singer Linda’s hooded cloak.
“Did Linda just (fart)?” one person asked in a video on TikTok.
To which hundreds of people responded admitting they’d heard the noise as well.
“Oh my god, I thought it was my dad and I just didn’t say anything!” one laughed.
“Yeeees I was like, what, did I just hear that?” another added.
“I thought i was the only one who noticed!” a third admitted.
“I HEARD THIS TOO,” someone else said.
“Struggling to hold that one in,” another laughed.
But others said they’d thought the noise had come from somewhere else.
“I thought she said ‘do you?’ just very quietly, you can see her mouth move,” one wrote.
“I thought that was her saying ‘ooh’, you can see her mouth move at the same time,” another added.
“I think they would have edited that out,” a third laughed.
Linda is emerging as a firm favourite on this year’s series, although people are wondering just how much longer she will last before the Faithfuls figure out her treacherous identity.
How does The Traitors work and who hosts it?
The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC.
Claudia Winkleman is the show’s host, and has now hosted all three series to date.
How does it work?
It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.
The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in “the ultimate game of truth and deception”.
The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.
While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).
Each night, the Traitors gather to “eliminate” one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition
Meanwhile, the traitors can be “banished” if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.
The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.
The prize sees the winner could get £120K.
One of the most iconic lines on Wednesday night’s show came from Linda, who tried to make the others think that Anna was one of the Traitors due to how she’d tied up the boat after an earlier mission.
Anna poked fun at the situation with a video of herself dancing around on TikTok, to which someone wrote: “Linda CAME for you girly!”
“YOU DONT HAVE TO BE A SAILOR TO TIE A ROPE…SORRY, too iconic to hate tbf, gotta love her,” Anna replied.
“I’m sorry but Linda’s line had me cackling,” another added.
“She’s so sassy!”
With Anna responding: “I’d be fuming but she comes our with such dramatic statements you can’t help but absolutely crease yourself!
“She’s a pantomime villain, I’m obsessed.”
Minah couldn’t hide her shock and excitement at being told they could recruit another Traitor on Wednesday’s show[/caption]
