Dessert is such an important part of celebrating the holidays with family and friends. After a big dinner, you can come together again at the table and end the evening with something sweet before you part. And although you can’t go wrong with apple or pumpkin pie, you might want to wow the crowd and bring Molly Yeh’s S’mores Slab Pie to your gathering this year instead. It’s super chocolatey and will make you feel super nostalgic for camp.
“I am making my S’mores Slab Pie which is buttery and flaky. It’s perfect for a crowd,” Yeh said in a clip from Girl Meets Farm.
To make this pie, Yeh starts by making pie dough from scratch using flour (both white and whole wheat), sugar, ground cinnamon and nutmeg, salt, vinegar, cold butter, cold shortening, and ice-cold water. The cinnamon, nutmeg, and whole wheat flour will give the crust that graham cracker taste.
“I love the idea of spices in the crust,” one commenter wrote. Why not give all the pie components a kick of flavor, right?
Once the dough is formed and chilled, it’s time to roll it out and assemble the slab pie. Roll half of your dough out to fit a small sheet pan with some still hanging over the sides. Then, line the crust with four dark chocolate bars and then top the chocolate with mini marshmallows. Roll out and top the slab pie with the other half of your dough and pinch the edges together, removing any excess as you go.
Pop the entire thing into the oven and when it comes out, allow it to cool. In the meantime, make your chocolate glaze using milk, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Spread it evenly on your cool pie and then decorate the glaze with sprinkles for an extra fun touch. Then, you’re ready to cut into it and enjoy!
