Great! Mystery says it will show “binge-worthy mystery shows and monthly premieres of high-stakes crime movies”.

Among the movies are some big name Hollywood titles from the genre.

This includes Drive with Ryan Gosling, which has won some 30 major awards since being released in 2011.

The Whistleblower with Rachel Weisz is also on the schedule.

And there’s 2006 movie Lucky Number Slevin with a huge cast of big names including Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis and Josh Hartnett.

A leading movie will be shown on the channel every night at 9pm, as part of a special Crime at Nine slot.

Elsewhere, viewers will be able to catch Dick Van Dyke-led made-for-television mystery films Murder 101, alongside his son Barry Van Dyke.

Great! Mystery joins four other Great! branded channels now available on Freeview.

These are Great! Movies, Great! Action, Great! TV and Great! Romance.

Great! Romance is currently under a temporary rebrand as Great! Christmas for the festive period.

There is also real-life drama channel Great! Real but this is only available online currently.

Great! Mystery can be found on channel number 61 on Freeview.

Amy Rowcliffe, Director at Everyone TV – which runs Freeview – said: “We’re proud to continue our partnership with Narrative Entertainment UK by launching Great! Mystery on Freeview – with some fantastic content, such as the Aurora Teagarden franchise, based on Charlaine Harris’ bestselling books, as well as award-winning films with A-list talent like The Whistleblower.

“Now more than ever, providing UK households with quality TV for free is vitally important – we look forward to continuing to do more with Great!”

Get more quality TV for free

By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Reporter

If you’re tired of paying out on several streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ then there are a growing number of free alternatives around.

While many of these alternatives have been filled with obscure content, more big names like Sky have got on board in recent years offering some quality stuff, which is largely archive but still entertaining.

As well as UKTV, Sony and Channel 5 are among the other players getting involved.

If you haven’t already, give Pluto TV a go, it’s available on pretty much all devices including Fire TV Sticks.

On there you’ll find channels from MTV, with Catfish and Geordie Shore.

Some of the classics are real gems too – I found myself watching long-forgotten episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch the other day.
