A MAN has appeared in court charged with having sex with a Shetland pony.
Damion Ogeare allegedly broke into a farm in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, and abused the female mare.
The 43-year-old appeared at Salisbury Crown Court today charged with one count of sexual penetration with a living animal.
Ogeare is also accused of recklessly trespassing on premises with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence.
He had been due to enter a plea but the case was adjourned.
The court was told Ogeare was allegedly seen trespassing on the farm on January 24 last year.
He is accused of breaking into a stable containing two Shetland ponies and having sex with a mare called Cassieopia Wooley.
The defendant then left the farm around ten minutes later, it was said.
Prosecutor Christina Norgan said: “This defendant stands charged in relation to two offences.”
Ogeare, who spoke to confirm his name and address, will next appear at the same court on February 27.
