Khloé Kardashian and Scott Disick may not be in each other’s lives as much as they were when he was dating her sister Kourtney Kardashian, but they’re still on the same wavelength. The two TV personalities sat down for the premiere episode of Khloé’s Khloé in Wonder Land podcast and dove into a lot of heavy parenting topics. Disick opened up about the constant conversations he has with his and Kourtney’s oldest son Mason about the “hereditary” alcohol struggles he may face, and they also addressed the difficult realities of dating as single parents.
In case you haven’t been keeping up with the next generation of Kardashians, Kourtney and Disick share kids Mason, 15, Penelope, 12, and Reign, 10. Meanwhile, Kardashian shares 6-year-old daughter True and 2-year-old son Tatum with ex Tristan Thompson.
“How are you with dating around the kids?” Kardashian asked. “ … Do you discuss that with them? Do they ask? Because they’re older, I imagine they’re asking.”
“Yeah, they ask me,” the self-proclaimed “Lord Disick” said. ” … They do voice to me that they’d like me to be with someone. And I kinda say until I find the right person, I don’t really want to bring another person around unless it’s like the end all be all person.”
It’s a common response for a lot of single parents who are reentering the dating scene. They don’t want their kids to “get attached,” as Disick said, to someone who might not be around for very long.
“But I have to do my thing too, or I’ll never meet anyone,” he continued. “But they’re all starting to get older and it’s not that much longer until they’re of age, all of them.”
And so, he’s devoting the next 5 – 7 years of his life to his three kids, conceding that he then has the rest of his life to be single.
“Right now I like that my focus is on them,” Disick said. “And if I was with somebody else, I’d still be a good dad but I would have somebody that I’d be putting on a pedestal near them.”
Kardashian totally understood Disick’s position and called her two kiddos her “top priority.”
“I’m not dating, I don’t care to,” the Good American founder said. “My focus is on just my kids. But I think if I wasn’t in my situation, I’d be like, ‘You’re so full of sh*t.’ But I totally get it and to me, I think it’s the smartest thing.”
Then the two then agreed on a timeline. “My youngest [son Reign] is 10, right? So in 8 years, he graduates high school. In 8 years, I’ll still be able to do my thing,” Disick said.
“I mean I feel like in 8 years, you and I both will find someone,” Kardashian stated.
And we love this manifestation for them! Disick might be off the market right now, but that certainly hasn’t been the case in recent years. Since 2017, the 41-year-old has dated Sofia Richie, Amelia Hamlin, and Rebecca Donaldson.
In a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, the KarJenner family talked about Disick’s dating life, and Kourtney called out his tendency to date women around half his age. When his daughter Penelope heard this, she was adamant that he change.
“No!” Penelope said to her dad. “You’re 40. You’re not gonna date someone 19.”
And if Disick plans to start dating in 8 years — when Reign is 18 and the other Disick kids are in their 20s — he probably shouldn’t be dating a 19-year-old.
“It’s not a good look,” Disick agreed.
Age isn’t the only thing on Penelope’s mind when it comes to her dad’s next girlfriend. She said the woman (not a 19-year-old, Scott!) should also have a “good personality” and that she “can be pretty.” This potential girlfriend should also be into fitness, Penelope said, telling her dad that he needs to go to the gym too.
