Kate Hudson had the most relatable response to her son Ryder turning 21: she went through his childhood photos, of course! Reminiscing is part of motherhood, and the proud mama shared several of the adorable pictures in a compilation video to honor “her baby,” who she shares with ex Chris Robinson. *Cue the water works!
“Oh my baby Ryder ⭐️21 today⭐️,” the Almost Famous star wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. “My cozy, hilarious, smart, dedicated, loving son.”
In her caption, she shared her feelings of seeing her eldest son reach this milestone birthday. “As a mama you wonder what this day will feel like and I have to say it is nothing as I expected. It’s better,” she gushed. “Every milestone on this journey to adulthood has been a joy and every year as wonderful as the next. I love you so!!! 🥳Happy Birthday🥳”

Last year, the “Talk About Love” singer told PEOPLE that she realized she was “only a couple years older” than her son is when she got pregnant with him. “That’s been the wild discovery for me,” the 45-year-old said. “I just can’t believe that I was only a couple years older than him when I decided to have a child.”
“The fact that we’ve been able to get through it together like this, and really, honestly, grow up together, has been incredible,” Hudson continued. Ryder is currently going to college at New York University, which Hudson has said he’s doing “so wonderful” and is “enjoying his life.”
“I just love seeing him explore his adulthood. He’s an adult, you know?” she added. “He’s out in the world and doing his thing. … We’re very close and I’m very proud.”
