Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson’s marriage has been the source of much speculation lately. Fans are wondering whether the couple is together or separated since he hasn’t made an appearance on her social media account lately, and they reportedly are not attending school functions together.
Well, Life & Style sources seem to think that while their relationship has hit a rocky patch, there is still hope for their union. The 44-year-old singer has a simple marriage request for her estranged husband. “Jessica clearly wants Eric to get his act together,” the insider claimed. “But she won’t stick around in limbo forever.” Simpson and the 45-year-old retired athlete have “a ton of unresolved issues in the marriage that have been simmering for years” and now it’s reached a “boiling point.”
The duo has both been spotted with their wedding rings off in public which has only fueled the rumors even more. Entertainment Tonight claimed that they are living “separate lives” right now and their issues come down to them being “different people” with “different goals.” The source added, “Jessica is motivated and Eric isn’t.” She’s been spending quite a bit of time focusing on her music comeback in Nashville over the last year.
Her career ambitions have been taken off the back burner now that that their three children, Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5 are older. “Being in Nashville, even my kids are like, ‘You laugh the whole time. You’re so happy,’ ” she told E! News in August 2023. “It’s because I’m not on guard. I’m with a lot of like-minded people. It’s not about the celebrities—it’s really about the music and the heart and the conversation.”
Just because Simpson is driven to revive her music career doesn’t mean she’s tossing aside her 10-year marriage aside. An Us Weekly source says she is “heartbroken” over the situation. After being married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006, the “Take My Breath Away” singer thought Johnson was her end game. “In terms of my marriage to Eric, I have never felt more myself or more free,” Simpson told the media outlet in February 2020. “Eric and I have a true mind, body [and] soul connection.”
Simpson and Johnson have not commented publicly on their marriage, but let’s hope they find a way to come to an amicable resolution that works for their family.
