Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore is now comfortably in a relationship with his girlfriend Jesiree Dizon and has been enjoying fatherhood. However, there was once a time when the actor used to be in the news for his high-profile relationships. And the first time he ever fell head over heels was for Marvel star and Bond girl Halle Berry.
Despite their short romance, Moore once revealed how life-changing the experience was in a rare interview.
Shemar Moore on Dating Marvel Star Halle Berry
Halle Berry has been in several relationships throughout her career, and so has Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore. Back in the 90s, the duo’s paths ended up crossing, leading to a pretty short-term romance, the details of which still remain unknown.
However, back in 2013, Moore gave an interview with BET, finally opening up about his brief stint with the Marvel star. Calling the relationship as a life-changing experience, the actor stated,
She was the first woman to really knock my socks off. I fell hard for Halle. A lot of people now know we dated, but we had to keep it hush-hush at the time because she was fresh off her divorce from David Justice.
Their shared experience as biracial made their connection stronger, yet they broke up due to reasons unknown. While Berry is yet to open up about their time together, Moore, earlier this month, revealed to PEOPLE that he had a good time dating the actress and being known as ‘That guy.’
Shemar Moore Remains Grateful for His Brief Relationship with Halle Berry
Shemar Moore has long moved on and is living a happy life with his girlfriend and kid. However, per his recent interview with PEOPLE and his old one with BET, the actor remains grateful for his short relationship with actress Halle Berry.
Having grown up as a biracial kid, just like Berry, Moore struggled with his identity and place, a feeling he has spoken about extensively. So when he met Berry, their similar identity crisis bonded them together, helping him heal in a special way.
I’m still grateful for that relationship. I was smitten not just because of who she was, but because we were so similar in so many way.
Moore remarked to BET and added how grateful he is to have met Berry.
She was biracial, she was kind of going through the same things I was in Hollywood. Toni [Braxton] was a fun ride, but Halle was a necessary experience. It made me much stronger as a man, and knowing the caliber of woman I want in the future.
Despite the short nature of their romance, Moore’s gratitude for the time spent with Berry showcases how formative the relationship was in shaping his identity and aspirations. As he now embraces fatherhood and his relationship with his girlfriend Jesiree Dizon, it is clear that his past relationship, in some way or other, has helped define that man he is today.
