Ex-Rangers starlet makes emotional Man Utd debut FIFTEEN months after joining as she says ‘I loved every single second’

FOURTEEN months is a long time in football.

And it must have seemed like a lifetime for Scotland‘s women‘s star Emma Watson.

You may recall how the 17-year-old moved on from Ibrox after being named PFA Scotland Women’s Young Player of the Year award in June 2023.

The SFA performance school graduate said that walking away from the club to join Manchester Utd was the TOUGHEST thing she’s ever had to do in football.

She made her debut at the age of 15, playing a key role in a thrilling SWPL title race that season where Rangers lost out on the final day.

But disaster struck before she had kicked a ball for her new club, as she sustained a cruciate ligament injury on international duty with Scotland.

Having scored three goals in her first four appearances for Scotland, Watson was injured in the final training session before a 2-1 defeat to England.

But the good news is that she finally has some competitive minutes under her belt for Man Utd.

Watson played the full 90 minutes for the Old Trafford side in their 2-0 win over Everton in the League Cup.

A Courtney Brosnan own goal and a clincher from Maya Le Tissier did the damage for the Red Devils.

Afterwards a delighted Watson – one of two debutants on the night admitted it has been a tough 15 months.

She said: “Honestly it was amazing – one of the best days of my career.

“I think after the year we have had it has been so tough then 15 months later it just shows you all the hard work has paid off.

“I loved every single second on that pitch and I’m just so proud of us. What a night it has been.”
