A tragic collision on SR-89 claimed the life of one individual on the afternoon of November 20.
Just before 4:30 p.m., a grey Subaru Outback traveling northbound veered off the roadway, struck a cedar tree, and caught fire. The vehicle was engulfed in flames, and the driver tragically succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities say they have not yet identified the driver and the car had no license plates to aid in identification.
The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances of the crash, while the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the coroner’s investigation.
