Denzel Washington Shows a Picture Proving He Saw God’s Face When He Prayed For It

Besides being one of the greatest actors of all time who never ceased to leave his viewers amazed with his breathtaking performances, Denzel Washington is also famous for his unhesitantly blunt and bold attitude. He speaks his mind without reluctance and does what needs to be done without ever caring about the response it could bring him from other people.

That being said, when Washington realized that he may have shared a moment closer to God than the rest, he didn’t hesitate before talking out loud about it and sharing his experience with his fans. If anything, he even showed a picture meaning to prove that he saw God’s face when he prayed for it, although fans’ mixed reactions on the matter seem to argue otherwise.

Denzel Washington Candidly Recalls When He Saw God’s Face

A Pentecostal Evangelical Christian and a member of the West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles himself, Denzel Washington recently recalled during a live interview that he once saw God’s face when he asked for it. And these weren’t just claims that could be brushed aside, for the actor even took a quick image of what he saw to prove his point.

Appearing on BBC’s 1Xtra Breakfast with Nadia Jae to talk about all things from his recently released Gladiator 2 to God, he shared the story of the time he was on a boat and was listening to the song titled The Face of God when he prayed to God to see his face. To his surprise, his prayer was met with him seeing a striking image in the sky that he captured on his phone.

Recounting the incident, he said (@FearedBuck on X): “I was on a yacht, on a boat, listening to music, praying. And there was a song on called ‘The Face of God.’ I said in my prayer, ‘Lord, you know, everybody’s singing about the face of god. They could see your face. I wanna see your face.’” As ostensibly random as this prayer was, it seems it was met with immediately nonetheless.

The Equalizer actor continued to recall and share the incident:

While I was saying, ‘I wanna see your face,’ I heard, ‘Turn to your left.’ I turned to my left, I picked up on my phone and I went [makes a clicking sound]. I didn’t turn to my left and look around. I just heard, ‘Turn to your left’ [and I turned and clicked a picture].

Denzel Washington then proceeded to show the picture that he clicked on his phone which featured a breathtakingly magnificent blue sky on which he and Jae drew out what they felt looked like facial features and wings. Quoting the Bible, the actor went on to say, “The Bible says we will see, like, through a mirror darkly, but then face to face.

And yet, as best as he tried to prove his point, his claims and statements are still drawing mixed reactions from fans worldwide.

While Denzel Washington’s no-nonsense attitude has earned him a lot of fan following over the years, this latest feat by him is garnering some rather mixed reviews. On the one hand, while some people who don’t believe him are trolling the legend over his claims, others who believe him, on the other hand, are jumping to his defense.

Taking to X, here’s a sneak peek into these mixed reactions that netizens have on Washington’s claim of having seen God face to face:

From what it seems like from these fan reactions, looks like this fan debate on the existence of God and Denzel Washington getting to come face to face with Him will rage on for a while now, even with all the pictorial proof the actor has in store to back up his story. But, then again, everyone has their own different religious beliefs, so none can be blamed for their respective opinions either.
