Creature Commandos ends its season on a stellar note, packed with action, ominous humor, and a wicked story, leaving the future of Rick Flag Sr. and his team in doubt. The debut chapter of this DCU tale concludes with the origin story of Nina Mazursky (Zoë Chao), the good-natured amphibian scientist.
Throughout the season, we have essentially experienced the events of Creature Commandos through Nina’s eyes. She has been shocked, appalled, and horrified by her coworkers’ actions. However, in tonight’s finale, Nina must do the unthinkable to complete the mission and save the world — kill Ilana. The other subplots involve Eric Frankenstein (David Harbour).
Eric arrives searching for The Bride (Indira Varma). When he finds her scaling the wall of Ilana’s castle, he enters through a window. To his dismay, the love of his life pulls out a handgun and shoots him in the torso multiple times, causing him to fall out of the window. Moments later, The Bride spits on him and shoots him off-screen, presumably in the head.
Max’s Creature Commandos Season 1 Episode 7: Nina Was Born With What Physical Defect?
Nina Mazursky was born with pulmonary ectopia, a condition where her lungs are outside her body. Her parents debate whether to let nature take its course. However, Nina’s father, a bio-genetic scientist, builds a machine that allows her to breathe independently. Soon after, he infuses her biology with aquatic traits so she can live without pain. Nina’s mother eventually leaves.
Her father raises her alone. When Nina becomes a teenager, he enrolls her in a private school. Unfortunately, the other kids are cruel, mocking her by calling her a frog and making her say, “Ribbit.” Unable to endure the bullying, she leaves home and her father behind, retreating to the sea. Soon, she is known as the “Sea Creature” in Star City. Later, Nina is pulled out of the water.
The incident is aired live on the local news. Dr. Mazursky rushes to the scene and arrives just in time to see his daughter being taken in by animal control. He pushes past a police officer and reaches his daughter, telling her she has never been a burden and that she was the greatest gift of his life. However, before he can finish the sentence, the police shoot him in the back, killing him.
How Does Nina Die?
Ilana kills Nina. The princess was swimming in a pond next to her castle when she was alerted by the Weasel. Ilana looks just like the little girl Weasel befriended before being arrested, so when he saw Nina swim underneath her to stab her to death, he ran into the pond to save the Pokolistanian beauty. However, what makes this tragic is that Nina was a reluctant participant.
Nina didn’t want to kill Ilana but chose to do so for the greater good, as she was the only one who could use water to her advantage. However, Flag wakes up in time to alert Waller (Viola Davis) that McPherson is lying, and they later discover that the professor is Clayface. Unfortunately, they cannot alert the Creature Commandos in time, as Nina has already died.
When Weasel enters the water, Ilana senses something is wrong. She looks down and sees Nina, who then attempts to stab her in the stomach. The Princess, a skilled fighter, knows how to defend herself and grapples with the amphibian scientist over the weapon as they descend to the bottom of the pond. Ilana gains control of the sharp weapon and stabs Nina four times in the torso.
Is Max’s Creature Commandos Season 1 Episode 7: Why Does The Bride Kill Ilana?
James Gunn ends the season (or series) with The Bride shooting Ilana in the forehead because she killed her only friend, Nina. Also, Circe was right, and The Princess would start World War III. How does she know this? Because The Bride saw security tapes with Illana talking to Clayface. And yes, she is ready to explain it.
She tells Illana that she seduced Flag, suggested they kill Circe, and had one of her men spy on them, finding out McPherson visited Waller. The Princess then had Clayface kill the professor and impersonate her. This would make it seem like Waller’s consultant wasn’t who she said she was. Circe was right, and the Pokolistanian Goddess wanted to destroy the world.
Ilana reaches for her gun, but The Bride is too quick, shooting her first. Ilana is left at her desk, her brains and blood sprayed across the curtains that obscure the window, framing the burnt orange sunset. The remaining Creature Commandos walk out of the castle like characters in a Western, accompanied by a twangy musical score.
Ultimately, The Bride is assigned to a new team at NHID, which includes Weasel, Doctor Phosphorus, a “Bat Girl,” a shark stacking toilet paper, and points out how dumb The Bride’s haircut is, a monkey who likes to knit, and G.I. Robot in a brand-new upgraded body of armor, reporting for duty. Wait, hold on, is the cartilaginous fish, King Shark?!?!
