1 week agoNews PlusComments Off on The 5 gardening trends set to take over in 2025 – from companion planting to chaos gardening
GIVING your home and garden a makeover may be on your list of New Year’s resolutions.
And if you are looking to tackle your outdoor space, there are some new trends blooming for 2025.
Indoor plants will continue to be popular in 2025[/caption]
Whether you are an avid gardener or new to the game, Richard King Director at Dino Decking has shed light on the green-fingered styles set to take over this year.
No garden? No problem
Not everyone is lucky enough to have a garden, but that shouldn’t stop you sharing your love for plants.
Richard says: “Post-Covid, we have all taken greater pleasure in enjoying our outdoor spaces and connecting to nature.
“But, for the one in eight British households who do not have a garden, indoor plants are the perfect way to bring natural harmony to homes.
“We expect to see a rise in indoor plants throughout 2025 with indoor plant care videos already gaining increasing traction on TikTok.
“As Gen Z and Millenials are the greatest users of TikTok, seeing a rise in indoor planting throughout 2025 could also bring with it an increase in younger gardeners as the hobby expands and becomes far more intergenerational.”
Chaos Gardening
The next trend is perfect for anyone who doesn’t have the time to keep their flowerbeds perfectly neat or plant seeds and bulbs to exact measurements.
Richard says: “The best gardens have long been stereotyped as those with perfectly trimmed hedges and neat flower beds, and chaos gardening flips the script on that completely.
“Chaos gardening is what it says on the tin. Take a handful of flower seeds and throw them around the garden without any further planning.
“We have already seen an uptick in wildflower planting, as Brits try to bring back plant diversity in their gardens and public spaces for bees, and chaos gardening feeds right into that, a garden of nature, not perfection.
“Already featuring at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and with a 300% increase in Pinterest searches, Chaos Gardening is set to jump out of the mood boards and into our gardens all next year.
“Chaos gardening also ties into some of the maximalist interior trends set to be everywhere in 2025.”

Self-sufficient gardening
“The wellness industry is booming, and we have become increasingly more health-conscious with ultra-processed foods under the spotlight throughout 2024″, Richard continues.
This means there could be an uptick in self-sufficient gardening with people trying out ways to harvest food in their outdoor spaces.
From growing herb plants to creating your own vegetable patch, there’s plenty of options.
Richard continues: “This practice addresses some other current issues facing individuals, including saving money and cutting carbon emissions in the face of the ongoing cost of living and climate crisis.”

Companion planting
Everyone needs a friend they can lean on – and plants are exactly the same, Richard argues.
He says: “Companion planting is selecting plants to grow together that can offer some form of benefit to each other.
“Whether it is to improve soil quality, deter pests or increase the chance of pollination, this gardening hack is all about using nature to nurture itself and is an organic alternative to pesticides and chemicals.
“As everyone is becoming more eco-conscious, companion planting is a practice you can expect to see getting even bigger next year.”
Community gardening
And finally, gardening could help to expand your social circle in 2025 if you get involved in the community gardening trend.
Richard says: “Interest in community gardens is on the rise, as Brits – especially millennials and Gen Z’s – look for ways to improve their immediate environment and tackle climate change on their doorsteps.
“Community gardening also offers the opportunity to socialise in a healthy environment, connecting with others while disconnecting from our chronically online lives at a time when we are increasingly more aware of our screen time. ”

DONALD Trump has been slammed by France and Denmark after the president-elect floated bizarre plans to buy Greenland.
International tensions rose after the incoming US leader refused to rule out military action to take control of Denmark’s autonomous territory.

Donald Trump Jr. visits Nuuk, Greenland, on January 7, 2025[/caption]
Trump has ruffled the feathers of America’s oldest allies as France issued a surprise stern warning
French foreign minister Jean-Noel Barrot suggest moves on the territory would be an attack on the European Union.
He said: “There is no question of the EU letting other nations in the world, whoever they may be, attack its sovereign borders, whoever they are.
“We are a strong continent.”
Despite his warning, the minister added that he did not believe the US would invade the Danish territory.
He said: “If you’re asking me whether I think the United States will invade Greenland, my answer is no.
“But have we entered into a period of time when it is survival of the fittest? Then my answer is yes.”
Just days away from his second inauguration as president, Trump has issued shock and unexpected threats towards Greenland, the Panama Canal, and Canada.
The president-elect said that the US ownership of Greenland is an “absolute necessity” to protect global “national security and freedom”.
Trump even suggested he would impose tariffs on Denmark if the country resists his offer to buy Greenland.
As an autonomous territory of Denmark’s, Greenland has it’s own ruling body but people from the island have Danish citizenship.
Trump faced another diplomatic strike as Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen hit back at the president-elect’s plans.
The Dane made it clear Greenland was not for sale, she said on Tuesday.
Frederiksen said: “There is a lot of support among the people of Greenland that Greenland is not for sale and will not be in the future either.”
He stayed on the island for just a few hours and was pictured strolling around the capital Nuuk, which was enough time for his dad to hype up the trip on Truth Social.
Trump wrote: “I am hearing that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA’.”
He added: “Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation.
“We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”
Even the Danish king, Frederik X, appeared to step back against Trump as the royals unveiled a change on their new coat of arms.
The new design made the symbol for Greenland bigger and more prominent.
NEW TERM PLANS
Trump has unveiled an unexpected load of attacks on some of his neighbouring nations.
The president-elect floated the idea of taking over Canada and said it would be a “great idea” to make the country the US’s 51st state.
He teased onsocial mediathat “many Canadians” welcome the idea, as Ottawa is wracked by political turmoil.
Trump wrote on Truth Social: “Many Canadians want Canada to become the 51st State.”
He added: “They would save massively on taxes and military protection. I think it is a great idea. 51st State!!!”
Trump even stirred the pot in Central America as he threatened to reimpose US control over the Panama Canal.
He cited apparent excessive fees to use the canal and a risk of Chinese influence.
1 week agoNews PlusComments Off on Outrage erupts over Britain’s ‘favourite’ Tesco meal deal with shoppers branded ‘psychos’ for buying ‘fart in tub’ snack
TESCO’S favourite meal deal has been revealed – but not all shoppers are happy about the number one pick.
For the past few years, Tesco’s annual meal deal rankings have caused a stir, but the 2024 results have left some customers downright baffled.
Tesco’s top meal deal: Chicken Club Sandwich, Egg Protein Pot, and Coca-Cola[/caption]
The supermarket revealed that the nation’s favourite combination for 2024 includes the Tesco Chicken Club Sandwich, a Tesco Egg Protein pot (90g), and Coca-Cola original taste (500ml).
Tesco based the ranking for the best Meal Deal on data from Clubcard members’ most purchased combinations in 2024.
The top meal deal has garnered a lot of attention and not all of it has been positive.
Shoppers have been quick to voice their displeasure, with many taking to social media to question why the Egg Protein Pot has gained so much popularity.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) said: “Egg? Over crisps of chocolate??”
While another branded the choice “sick” and questioned, “Who the f*** is buying that?”.
The egg-based snack, which has been described by some as a “fart in a tub,” has sparked a wave of criticism, with many wondering how it beat out traditional favourites like crisps or chocolates.
One particularly vocal shopper shared: “The men in the office I work in must have pushed the egg protein pot up there as a nation’s favourite, they buy like 2 a day.”
While others have shared their own disbelief, saying, “What psycho is walking around and thinks, ‘Hmm, could go for egg in a pot right now?'”.
Others were more embarrased: “The most popular Tesco UK meal deal snack item of 2024 was a plain hard boiled egg. We truly are a joyless nation”
“I can’t believe an egg is the most popular choice, dear me”
While many have expressed their dislike for the egg pot, others have admitted it’s a guilty pleasure, with one person sharing: “Shameful and absolutely never when I’m in public but tbh the egg is a guilty pleasure especially when frequenting the gym.”
Some have speculated that the egg protein pot’s popularity might be due to the fact that only one egg option exists in the rankings, whereas there are many different types of crisp.
If all crisps were counted as one, the egg would likely lose out to the classic snack.
To kick off the New Year, Tesco unveiled its Clubcard, a personalise annual shopping summary for eligible Clubcard members.
Launched on January 6, the feature allows over 18 million members to explore their shopping habits, including their most frequently purchased Meal Deal items.
The feature also highlights members’ overall shopping behaviour, such as frequently bought products and points saved or spent with Reward Partners.
Recent favourites over the years:
Chicken Club sandwich, and Egg Protein Pot, and a Coca-Cola
Sausage Bacon and Egg triple sandwich, McCoy’s Flame Grilled Steak crisps and a refreshing Coca-Cola
Tesco Smoked Ham and Mature Cheddar Sub, a Big Hoops BBQ Beef Grab Bag Crisps and Oasis Summer Fruits
Tesco the Chicken Club Sandwich and a Walkers Sensations Thai Sweet Chilli Grab Bag Crisps
Tesco Hoisin Duck Wrap and Lucozade Sport Orange

1 week agoNews PlusComments Off on Ronnie Vint’s the most charismatic man on the planet – he’ll have no trouble pulling Love Island girls, says Joe Baggs
RONNIE Vint has been labelled “the most charismatic man on the planet” ahead of his turn on Love Island All Stars.
Viewers were sad to see Ronnie, who is a close pal of Olivia Attwood, leave and felt the show was less entertaining without him.
Though he wasn’t great at articulating his feelings in the villa, show superfan and podcast host Joe Baggs is expecting Ronnie to be a hit with the ladies once again, having spent time with him in the flesh.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, he said: “So one thing I’ll say about Ronnie when I watched him on the show I initially thought ‘oh he’s such a player’.
“He didn’t really communicate well he was just a bit like ‘I fancy you’, went up to another girl, ‘I fancy you’.
“When I met him and interviewed him on the podcast he’s the most charismatic man on the planet. When he left the room I went ‘I totally get it’.
“I don’t think he’ll have any problem in there getting anyone. I think for him he’ll be overloaded with options. I totally get why he had so many triangles when he was in the villa originally.
“I think he’s just he’s just super confident isn’t he and he just also like doesn’t care what people say and I think that’s a very attractive thing.”
Despite being close with Harriett outside of the villa, Ronnie refused to confirm they were actually an item and eventually they went their separate ways.
It was all amicable though with Harriett calling him “the most amazing boy ever.”
Since then, he’s been seen at a number of media events and has spoken honestly about his hair loss, showing a more sensitive side to his personality.
Joe believes Ronnie will be no less entertaining this time around owing to his relative newness in the entertainment industry.
He said: “I think particularly in this industry we have a lot of the girls going in they’ve likely dated people in the same industry, so I think he’s quite fresh.
“He hasn’t been fully immersed in all of the the b****cks that comes with being in entertainment and stuff like that.”
Former Gogglebox star Joe would love to see a Ronnie and Harriett reunion and the fireworks that could create
“She was TV gold and that would be a dream come true,” he said.
Another reunion he’d love to see is bombshell Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti after their bitter split – though it seems unlikely the Italian stallion will be part of the cast now that he’s settled in the States.
Joe said: “I mean my ideal scenario is Ekin goes in as bombshell they send Davide in Grace [Jackson] comes in steals Davide.
“I keep like plotting loads of things in my head of what could actually happen, but yeah it would just be really interesting to see.
“I think Grace was amazing TV before, so I think if she if she’s definitely going in she’ll be amazing TV again.”
