I’ve blagged four National Trust family trips for the price of one by hacking their vouchers

IF YOU love a National Trust day out but aren’t sure about committing to membership, there’s a new nifty, thrifty gift that you can use to get several days out for the price of one.

The recently launched Unboxed range on the National Trust website is aimed at families or couples and, on the face of it, is only valid for one day.

Mum Catherine Lofthouse routinely makes the most of her National Trust membership and vouchers to save on days out with her family[/caption]

But the £75 family box includes entry to a National Trust site for two adults and up to four children, as well as a £40 gift card, a single-use parking pass and an adventure map worth £15.

It also comes with an £8 book titled ‘50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾’.

This means if you use all the elements of it wisely, you could be quids in over 2025.

To visit one of my nearest National Trust places, the Children’s Country House at Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire, costs £60 for two adults and three children for day entry as non-members, plus £12 for an extra child.

I used a 10 per cent off welcome code to get the Unboxed set for £67.50, so if I take six people with my entry voucher, I’ve already saved £4.50 compared to the cost of a one-off visit.

Then I can use the £40 gift card that comes in the Unboxed bundle to go to a couple of cheaper sites like Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, where family entry costs £12.50, or the grounds of Calke Abbey in Derbyshire for £18.75.

Even more expensive sites like Cragside in Northumberland, which recently boasted the UK’s largest living Christmas tree, costs £37.50 for a family, so would be covered by the gift card, which can also be used in National Trust shops and cafes.

If you pick sites where car parking is free, like Calke Abbey, you can use your one-off parking pass to visit one of the coast or countryside National Trust sites that are free to enter but charge for car parking like Dunwich Heath and Beach in Suffolk.

Parking for the day can cost as much as £15 depending on your vehicle and which car park you are using.

One of the bonuses of unbundling this gift box is that you could use the included map and book as presents for family members if you don’t feel like you need them yourself.

Not only will you save on the cost of a gift, but you’ll also encourage others to discover the nature and beautiful buildings that come with a National Trust day out

If you use its contents wisely, the Unboxed bundle could be worth more than £120 and could get you four days out – one with the entry voucher, two with the gift card and one using the parking pass.

And you don’t even have to cram in all your trips over a short period, as the gift card will be valid until 2026.

The car parking pass does not have an expiry date, so you could plan some of your visits for the summer if you’d rather save them for warmer weather.

The main benefit of using this gift bundle rather than a four-day two-adult family Explorer Pass, which costs £69, is that the Unboxed days out can be spread out and taken whenever suits you.

Whereas once the Explorer Pass is activated, it is only valid for a limited time period, so you would need to make all your visits on consecutive days to get your money’s worth.

That’s why unboxing this bundle could be the best gift to give yourself this year.

Wearing a bright orange bikini top and white blouse, the telly star filmed herself as she headed outside into the garden of her “waiting house”.

A large rectangular pool dominates the gorgeous outdoor space and features several sun loungers for chilling out on.

Maya explained to fans on Instagram that the luxurious property is where she hangs out when she’s not filming.

Flinging the door open and walking out into the bright sunshine, Maya shielded her eyes and started her short video with a sing song.

She then said: “So, behind the scenes this is my little waiting house at the Love Island set.

“So when I’m getting ready, when I’m waiting to go in and tell them, ‘You’re going home’, I’m here.”

Pointing to the large wood clad villa behind her, she added: “Well I’m actually in there. But this is where I can come outside.

“Today, we’re doing a little run through day. It’s exciting!

The new series of Love Island All Stars kicks off on Monday night and it features a stellar lineup of former islanders.

Earlier this week, Maya also gave fans a sneak peak of the actual villa during a live broadcast on This Morning.

She revealed the iconic fire pit area before allowing the camera to pan around to the property’s bright, candy pink outdoor kitchen.

Speaking about the new look villa, Maya told This Morning’s Ben Shepherd and Cat Deeley: “Every year we do a little bit.

“I mean, the kitchen’s the main thing that I can see straight away that’s changed, kind of like a candy floss, pink and white stripe situation, very cute!

“There’s just loads of small details. I haven’t had a full tour yet, I need to go and dig around everywhere but, every year I feel like it just gets better and better and just more glamorous.”

Maya’s appearance on This Morning came hours after The Sun revealed this year’s Love Island All Stars line-up.

Love Island All Stars 2025 official line-up

Love Island All Stars is returning to TV for season 2.

Here we take you through the line-up of Islanders’ who are set to go into the villa so far.

Bombshell rumours

Each series brings with it a string of hot single bombshells making their epic entrance into the villa.

Here’s who is rumoured to be going into the villa so far:

“I have said many times, I’ve been a fan since series one,” she said.

“I know all of them and seeing the line-up now I’m like, ‘Ok drama, excitement, hopefully some love, and maybe potential forever romances’.

“I’m mostly intrigued by the exes getting back in there though, obviously, because – drama!”

Maya is particularly looking forward to the return of Gabby Allen and Marcel Somervile – and is even hoping they get back together.

The pair famously split after the villa because he cheated on her while they were on holiday together.

Maya admitted: “I’m such a fan of both of them and that series was one of my favourites as well. I think Marcel is such a sweetheart, Gabby is just the loveliest human as well.

“I’m kind of rooting for them to get back together, but who knows, they could end up in a cute friendship. We’re not sure at this point but neither of them know the other’s going in, so that’s going to be just fireworks anyway.”

My favourite English walk that’s perfect for rainy days, ending with a stunning waterfall & one of country’s best cafes

A MAN who has trekked over 10,000 miles through the UK has revealed the English walk that’s perfect for a rainy day.

Professional hiker John Millen suggests visiting Falling Foss, a little-known waterfall in Yorkshire.

John is a guide for Walkers’ Britain – a company that’s been organising hiking expeditions in the UK and Europe since the 1970s.

The outdoor enthusiast has walked the Coast to Coast Path – a 193-mile walking route from St Bees in the Lake District to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire – more than 20 times.

Speaking exclusively to Sun Travel about rainy day walks in the UK, John said: “There’s a waterfall on the Coast to Coast Path in the North York Moors.

“Falling Foss is a nice, very long, waterfall.

“It’s quite small, but it’s long and after a lot of rain, it’s quite an attraction.

“So that’s a good one for a rainy day hike, if you’re going to do a walk.

“The waterfall is just by a tearoom, which is also beautiful.”

Falling Foss is a 30ft waterfall, located around six miles from Whitby in Sneaton Forest.

Brits don’t need to walk the Coast to Coast Path to visit the waterfall, as there are plenty of local routes would-be ramblers can join.

The waterfall is a 90-minute walk from either May Beck or Falling Foss car park, both of which are free.

While John describes the walk as being good on a rainy day, the route down can be quite slippery.

Walkers can also visit Hermitage, a cave that was carved by builder George Chubb in the 18th century, and legend has it that he then lived in the cave.

Visitors can also admire the waterfall from Falling Foss Tea Garden, a former 18th century cottage that’s been turned into a tea room by husband and wife duo, the Newmans.

After purchasing the run-down building in 2008, owners Jack and Steph spent 16 years transforming the place into a home and café

Falling Foss Tea Garden is perched about the 30ft waterfall, with diners able to take in stunning views.

Homemade cakes and cream teas are served, with kids able to play in the fairy-themed playground.

The Newmans also provide pooh sticks, which children can toss into the river from the bridge.

One of the most enchanting Tea Gardens in England

Travel experts Lonely Planet include the tearoom on their Ultimate UK Travel List, adding: “Make time for a cuppa at Falling Foss Tea Garden.

“Tucked away in a hidden fold of the North York Moors – it’s one of the most enchanting Tea Gardens in England.”

The tea garden has been praised by visitors, with a 4.5/5 star rating from hundreds of reviews on TripAdvisor.

One person wrote: “We wandered through the wood along the stream our springer spaniel was having the time of his life.

“We ended up at the cafe which was a very pleasant surprise.”

Another person added: “This is a lovely place to visit, excellent food and wonderful, helpful staff”.

A third simply said: “It’s just blissful and beautiful”.

Three other waterfalls to visit in the UK

AS an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast, John knows plenty of other breathtaking waterfalls Brits can see in the UK.

Pennine Way

There are two in the Pennines, with John adding, “Yorkshire has High Force and Low Force. Low Force is a smaller waterfall, and High Force is probably the most impressive waterfall in the UK.

Yorkshire Dales

Yorkshire isn’t short on stunning waterfalls. John said: “Along the Herriot Way, there’s the falls around the Hayes Garth, which are kind of multiple stepped falls, which are beautiful”.

Meanwhile, the most beautiful walks in the UK have been revealed.

And a new 2,700-mile walking route in the UK to be the world’s longest coastal path.

MAC Hyper Real Serumizer Eye Brightening Treatment, £45

While I haven’t yet tried MAC’s latest skincare product, the beauty brand’s website is already filled with rave reviews – despite only just launching.

The Hyper Real Serum is designed to smooth out the skin’s texture for a seamless application, minimising the risk of the dreaded pilling when applying the product before make-up.

It’s a radiance-boosting treatment, which is ideal for the winter months when our eyes suffer in the cold weather.

Formulated with vitamin C, niacinamide, smoothing peptides and Japanese peony extract, the cream works to reduce the appearance of dark circles with its brightening finish.

The Hyper Real Serum also works to strengthen the skin barrier which is important during the colder weather, while the nourishing ingredients soothes puffiness and makes it easier for make-up to glide on.

Suitable for all skin types, the new eye cream may be worth considering if you’re looking for a product to elevate your skincare routine.

The eye cream has already racked up impressive reviews on the MAC website.

One shopper wrote: “Very nice serum for the eye, it brightens tired eyes and reduces wrinkles, and it’s small and lightweight so it’s easy to just throw in your purse.”

Another added: “This makes my eyes look and feel stunning, it really helps in the inner corner which I am so blown away by.

I only need a little bit and it makes my skin look fantastic, with no pilling or anything – and it really hydrates well too.”

The eye treatment is the latest addition in the brand’s Hyper Real range, which includes the popular MAC Hyper Real Skin Balancing Serum.

Rated an impressive 4.7-out-of-5 by MAC shoppers, many have praised the hydrating serum-moisturiser hybrid.

One review wrote: “I cannot state how many serums I’ve tried throughout the years, and this is the very first one that I noticed an improvement in my overall skin immediately, and it only got better from there.

If you’re older you definitely need this – there’s no reason to spend £100 plus on another serum that doesn’t compare.”

The Hyper Real Eye Brightening Treatment is now available to shop in-store and online at MAC – and it’s expected to be a hit in the beauty world.
