‘We need to visit’ scream shoppers as 90s cartoon to take over TWO Scots Primark cafes

PRIMARK has done it again – giving shoppers a nostalgic boost with its new cafe theme.

The high street giant has previously transformed its eating spots into Shrek, Hello Kitty, Spongebob SquarePants and The Grinch-inspired delights.

And the budget retailer is now bringing in the New Year with a 90s cartoon theme for 2025.

The Simpsons cafe will launch at two Scottish Primark stores later this week.

The Braehead branch will welcome it on Friday, January 10, while Primark’s Edinburgh store will get a Springfield makeover on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the UK, The Simpsons cafe can be currently found in Cardiff, Manchester and Birmingham – with plans for Belfast too.

And cafe organisers, The Immersive Cafe, have promised that “Homer and his friends will be in Primark cafes for quite some time”.

There is no need to prebook the cafe, and you can just show up on the day.

Some of the menu highlights include butter bacon waffles for £6.95 and a loaded toastie complete with sliced beef, cheese, pink pickled onions and rocket, also £6.95.

And it wouldn’t be a Homer-worthy menu if there were no doughnuts up for grabs too.

Shoppers can snap up caramel brownie doughnuts or a jammy dodger version.

There’s also a strawberry doughnut milkshake topped with white chocolate drizzle, whipped cream, sprinkles and a pink doughnut for £5.95.

Unsurprisingly, fans of the hit 90s cartoon are already desperate to visit the pop up cafe as one gushed: “Okay I think this might be favourite one yet.”

“Omg looks amazing”, wrote a second.

A third chimed in: “AMAZING! nothing has ever excited me more than this.”

A fourth added: “Definitely need to visit!!”

Meanwhile, a fifth said: “Wow this looks soooo good I’ll be so going.”

Where is The Traitors season 3 filmed? Inside the Scottish castle where 22 strangers compete for cash prize

A NEW year and a new series of The Traitors is gracing our TV screens.

The third season of the tense reality showdown comes complete with a new cast of contestants. Here we take a look at where the show is shot.

Viewers praised host Claudia Winkleman’s choice of three female Traitors to launch the new BBC One series.

She previously branded series two’s all-male gang “like the olden days”, adding: “Whatever happens, it was the right thing to do.”

Where is season 3 of The Traitors filmed?

The third season of The Traitors is filmed at Ardross Castle — the same location as the previous two series.

Located in the scenic Scottish Highlands, this stunning 19th-century castle is situated approximately 25 miles north of Inverness.

It serves as the primary backdrop for the show’s intense gameplay, where contestants engage in strategic deception to win a cash prize of up to £120,000.

Ardross Castle

Ardross Castle, designed in the Scottish Baronial style, boasts a rich history and an impressively beautiful setting.

Scottish baronial architecture, also known as Scots baronial, is a distinctive style that emerged in the 19th century as part of the Gothic Revival movement.

Drawing inspiration from medieval castles and tower houses, it is characterised by a variety of elaborate features that evoke Scotland‘s historical architectural heritage.

Surrounded by over 100 acres of lush parkland along the banks of the River Alness, the castle provides an atmospheric environment that enhances the show’s themes of intrigue and betrayal.

The castle’s many rooms and shadowy corners create the ideal setting for contestants to plot their strategies and engage in psychological warfare against each other.

History

What is now Ardross Castle was originally the site of a hunting lodge built by the first Duke of Sutherland in the 18th century.

In 1845, the land was sold and the Baronial style castle that exists today was constructed later.

The castle was bought by the McTaggart family in 1983, who carried out extensive renovations to the site.

Aside from its usage as a filming location, the stunning privately run venue also hosts weddings and events.

‘I’ve never been anywhere more beautiful’

Speaking about filming at Ardross Castle during series one, Claudia said: “I thought I’ve been to beautiful places. I have never been anywhere more beautiful than the Scottish highlands in my life.

“It felt sometimes like we were in a painting if that’s not too cheesy.

“On day two we saw a double rainbow and everyone was like oh my gosh, and the crew were crying, there were baby deer, there was beautiful heather, there were ancient trees and an ancient loch.

“We were all taking pictures. I FaceTimed my kids to say ‘you’ve never seen anything like it, it’s magical’.

“And then, by day four, there had been another three double rainbows.

“I mean, by the end of the three weeks where we had seen 50, it was like, ‘don’t care’. But it’s just the most beautiful landscape.”

Beyond the castle

In addition to Ardross Castle, The Traitors utilises nearby scenic locations for various challenges.

For instance Loch Glass, located about 30 minutes from the castle, has featured prominently in some of the show’s more dramatic tasks.

These outdoor locations provide breathtaking backdrops, as well as adding an element of adventure to the competition.

Filming for season three took place during the summer of 2024.

Bet Victor‘s Sam Boswell said: “It feels like his backers are likely to collect come the Tuesday of the Festival.”

The superstar novice chaser – who won the Fighting Fifth Hurdle when stepping in for stablemate Constitution Hill – is one of their five biggest losers in the book.

He has been hammered into as short as 8-11 for the Arkle – while his stablemate is another giving bookies sleepless nights.

The Christmas Hurdle was built up as the big showdown behind former Champion Hurdle king Constitution Hill and pretender to the throne, Lossiemouth.

But Willie Mullins’ mare failed to fire and Constitution Hill showed he can still mix it in the top flight with an easy win.

Some have fired warning shots over the quality of the win – and Templegate has a 33-1 Champion Hurdle pick he fancies – but there is no denying Constitution Hill has been supported well for the day one feature.

He was as big as 9-2 in November after his Newbury gallop but is now 4-6.

Elsewhere, it’s three Willie Mullins horses the bookies are desperate to get beat.

Summing up the state of their ante-post liabilities, Boswell said: “The most significant loser in our book is Constitution Hill.

“We laid Nicky Henderson’s stable star at a price as big as 9-2 back in November, following the publicised gallop at Newbury.

“He’s now odds on at 4-6 having returned to his best in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day.

“We’ll be hopeful that Brighterdaysahead at 4-1, who was so impressive over Christmas, also opts for the Champion Hurdle and that we can get him beat in March.

“It’s another Nicky Henderson horse that has us running for cover in the Arkle.

“We saw plenty of conflicting ideas about where Sir Gino would end up but those who backed him for the two-mile novice chase at as big as 8/1 are very much on the right side of a good ante-post bet.

“He’s now 8-11 having blown away a disappointing Ballyburn at Kempton in the Wayward Lad, producing one of the most impressive chase debuts of recent times in the process.

“It feels like his backers are likely to collect come the Tuesday of the Festival.

“The Seven Barrows pair winning would be a nasty start to the festival for us.

“We are currently offering four places each-way on the Supreme, Turners and Albert Bartlett, and as a result we have seen several each-way liabilities.

“It’s another familiar trainer whose horses are giving our traders sleepless nights, with the worst being Willie Mullins-trained Kaid d’Authie.

“A faller on stable debut, he improved when going up in trip at Leopardstown over Christmas, impressing many.

“As a result, he’s 8-1 from 33-1 for the Supreme as it is anticipated he will drop back to two miles.

“Another Closutton inmate that won at Leopardstown and that we are keen to keep onside moving forward is Kopek Des Bordes, who is 12-1 from 25-1 for the Turners.

“Whilst we didn’t see much of his win in the fog, what the punters did manage to see clearly caught the eye.

“The final horse of a Mullins trio that could prove costly for us is Willy De Houelle in the Triumph market.

“This horse was the talk of the town long before his debut in December for the top trainer in Ireland, but he’s yet to live up to the hype and seems poised to be one that us bookmakers have ended up the right side of for once!”
