Savvy Amazon Fire Stick owners can bag £30 freebie before Black Friday even starts – but there’s ‘limited time’ to claim

AMAZON fans can bag themselves a tempting freebie worth just over £30.

But the offer is only available for a “limited time” – so don’t ignore the deadline and miss out.

Amazon is handing out free three-month subscriptions to its music streaming service, and it’ll work on your Amazon Fire TV Stick – or phones and laptops, if you prefer.

The Spotify rival is called Amazon Music Unlimited, and normally costs £10.99 a month – or £9.99 a month for Amazon Prime members.

Now you can bag a free three-month trial – worth £32.97 – if you claim before January 10, 2025.

Amazon Music Unlimited is a music streaming service – just like Spotify or Apple Music.

It serves up around 100 million songs on an ad-free basis, and you can listen “on demand”, rather than being tied to pre-made playlists or live-only content.

The app also has a vast selection of ad-free podcasts too.

And thanks to a partnership with Audible – also an Amazon brand – you can access a large catalogue of audiobooks.

With the membership, you can listen to one audiobook for free each month.

Amazon also notes that it offers “HD and spatial audio”.

You can listen to the service through Amazon Fire TV devices, the app on smartphones, as well as via Amazon Alexa-powered speakers.

The offer went live on November 11, just over two weeks before the Black Friday sales event on November 29.

There are some catches if you want to claim the offer.

Firstly, it’s only available if you’re a brand new subscriber to Amazon Music Unlimited.

So if you’re currently a member or you’ve had a subscription before, you’re out of luck.

The same is true even if you’d only claimed a free trial previously.

You can’t combine the deal with any other offer, and you’re limited to one purchase per customer and account.

Once the trial is up, you’ll be automatically charged at the normal rate of £10.99 a month (or £9.99 monthly for Prime members).

I’m been crying non-stop after my daughter’s birth certificate blunder – it could end up jeopardising her entire life

BECOMING a mum for the first time is supposed to be magical, but one woman has been left in tears after a mistake was made on her child’s birth certificate.

Proud parents Grace Bingham, 20, and her partner Ewan Murray, 21, were overjoyed when they welcomed little Lilah into the world last month.

Grace Bingham and Ewan Murray say the wrong sex was put on her birth certificate and is yet to be fixed[/caption]

But when they came to register the birth five weeks later they were shocked to discover she had been listed as male on her birth certificate due to a blunder.

Grace admitted she reviewed the certificate at the time but overlooked the mistake and signed it, attributing her oversight to a lack of sleep as first-time mum.

But they have so far been unable to amend the error on five-week-old Lilah’s records – despite getting in touch with national registration bosses.

Grace, of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Notts., said: “It’s been a nightmare and I’ve not stopped crying since.

“As first-time parents, we were very excited and, admittedly, a bit overwhelmed – especially due to the lack of sleep.

“We focused on ensuring that all the names were spelled correctly and didn’t expect such a professional error to happen.

“At the moment our newborn daughter is a male according to the government. I don’t have a son, I have a daughter.

“This could cause significant issues for our daughter throughout her life, as it would imply she is transgender when she is biologically female.

“If she chooses to identify differently later in life, that is her decision. But at just five weeks old, she cannot make that choice.

“It’s unfair for her birth certificate to say male, which could negatively impact her in various aspects of life, such as school, jobs, and relationships – due to a mistake that is not her fault.

“We feel wronged by the system regarding this error, and the only way to properly address it seems to be by bringing it to parliament’s attention.

“What will happen when she applies for a passport, or a job and gets married?

“We do not feel like we’ve been treated fairly. She’s been failed by the system already and she’s only a few weeks old. I’m devastated.”

The mistake happened when the pair went to register Lilah’s birth at Sutton-in-Ashfield Registration Office in Nottinghamshire last Wednesday (13/11).

Grace and Ewan were informed that in order to rectify the mistake, they would need to pay £99.

Grace said she is concerned even after correcting the error, the birth certificate would still list Lilah as male, with a small note indicating the sex was changed to female.

The couple have since been trying to contact Nottinghamshire Register Offices and the General Register Office to no avail.

They have also got in touch with Ashfield MP Lee Anderson for assistance.

Mark Walker, service director for place and communities at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “We are very sorry for any distress caused by this error and will pay for the correction fee.

“We are working with the family to put this right and will continue to support them throughout this process.”

Daniel Wiffen reveals major career decision following Olympics heroics as Irish swimming sensation makes 2025 promise

DANIEL WIFFEN revealed he will not be competing at the World Short-Course Championships.

Instead, the double Olympic medallist is setting his sights on retaining his World Aquatics gold next summer.

Daniel Wiffen will not compete at the World Short Course Championships next month

2024 was a breakthrough year for the 23-year-old swimming sensation.

Back in February, he won Ireland’s first ever World Aquatics Championships gold medal, taking top honours in the 800m freestyle.

That summer, he made history at the Paris Olympics by winning a gold in the 800m and bronze in the 1,500m.

His double medal tally brought Team Ireland’s haul to seven, making it the country’s most prolific Games.

He was due to travel with Team Ireland for the World Short-Course Championships in Hungary in December.

However, Wiffen has revealed that he will skip the meet, instead setting his sights on retaining his World Aquatics gold in Singapore next July.

The Armagh man said: “I have decided not to compete in the World SCM Championships, as after my extended break post Olympics I want to train and get back to full fitness ready to defend my two world titles in Singapore in the summer.

Wiffen expanded on his decision while speaking to Swimming World.

He explained: “I had a talk with Jon Rudd (Swim Ireland performance director) and we decided we didn’t think it was going to be right.

“I was struggling coming back to training after the Olympics. Andi wasn’t coaching when I came back so I wasn’t really getting what I wanted. He’s coaching now but not at the start so I was struggling for motivation.

“I’ve been training for six weeks on and off; from last week I did about 70k so I’m fully back in training.”

His withdrawal means that he capped off his year by winning Swim Ireland’s Swimmer of the Year.

Róisín NíRiain’s silver medal in the 100m backstroke S13 event and her bronze in the 200m individual medley SM13 at Paris 2024 saw her named Para Swimmer of the Year.

Speaking at the event Swim Ireland CEO Sarah Keane paid tribute to the athelets

She said: “We are delighted to come together, to celebrate the success of our athletes and to honour those that have helped them to get to where they are.

“It was fantastic to see so many of our community present to celebrate the most incredible year for Irish Aquatics.”

Last month the swimming superstar was honoured by with the James Joyce Award, in recognition of his sporting accomplishments.

Wiffen received the James Joyce award from Stéphane de Bairéid, auditor of the L&H, in the Fitzgerald Chamber during the Society’s 170th session.

Dana White reveals UFC’s new plans for Conor McGregor’s next fight in major announcement as hiatus continues

DANA WHITE has revealed the UFC’s new tentative plans for Conor McGregor.

The Irishman was due to make his long-awaited octagon return in June against rival Ultimate Fighter 31 coach Michael Chandler.

UFC supremo Dana White has revealed the rescheduled return of McGregor will take place LATE next year[/caption]

But he was forced to pull out of his comeback clash after suffering a broken left pinky toe just a matter of weeks before the Sin City showdown.

McGregor, 36, revealed in an exclusive interview with SunSport that he was eyeing a December return to the octagon but has come to terms with a 2025 comeback.

But the rescheduled Return of The Mac won’t take place in the first half of what promises to be a stacked 2025 for MMA’s promotion.

He said in the UFC 309 post-fight press conference: “Conor is going to come back late ’25.”

Fan favourite Chandler renewed his calls to face McGregor next year in the wake of his decision defeat to former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.

He roared to Joe Rogan in his post-fight interview: “Conor McGregor!!!”:

“If you can ever get your house back in order while us real professionals have been keeping the Octagon warm.

“We are wondering where you have been Conor. Come back and beat me, if you can?”

a poster showing mcgregor 's top 5 mma fighters

But White, at this moment in time, has no idea about who will welcome the MMA superstar back to the cage.

He said: “There’s a lot of time before we can figure out who’s gonna fight Conor.”

McGregor hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier three-and-a-half years ago.

And according to White, he’s champing at the bit to make his octagon return.

The veteran promoter, 55, said: “There is no doubt Conor wants to fight.

“He hits me up all the time.

“I told you guys he probably wasn’t going to fight in 2024 and he didn’t.

“He’s going to fight in 2025, probably at the end of the year, if it is earlier that is good for all of us.”

Woman, 27, ‘died falling from moving van as heartbroken boyfriend desperately tried to stop her’

A WOMAN died falling from a moving van as her boyfriend desperately tried to save her, an inquest heard.

Leah Senior, 27, told her partner she wanted to end her life before opening the passenger door as he drove them in his Ford Transit.

An inquest heard he grabbed Leah’s coat in a heartbreaking bid to stop her falling but was “unable to get to her”.

The boyfriend, who hasn’t been named, then stopped the van and pulled injured Leah to the side of the road.

Tragically she couldn’t be saved and died at the scene in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, on January 17 from chest injuries.

The inquest was told Leah was a “loving child” who was “always laughing and smiling” but her mental health declined when she turned 13 following the death of her grandmother.

Leah later became an accountant but developed problems with alcohol while working in Leeds, Yorkshire Live reports.

Her mum Hayley said: “We felt she had gone downhill massively. She was drinking at work and the company found out. They didn’t want to sack her so she resigned and they gave her a good reference.

“She worked for ASDA doing the books but working from home and that’s when her drinking got worse.”

In 2020, Leah was prescribed medication for depression after Hayley and her husband Neil became “very concerned” over her mental health.

She was also referred to a mental health group where a worker said she was not an alcoholic, but a “dependant drinker”.

Hayley told the court: “They said there was nothing wrong with Leah.

“In 2021 to 2022, Leah had a mental breakdown. I was constantly asking for help for her. She also saw a psychiatrist who said there was nothing wrong with her. We were doing the absolute best to get the help she needed.

“She was given a drug to help with her cravings with alcohol and would go for months without drinking then would go on a binge and go to hotels.”

You're Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

On the day of her death, Leah was due to meet with a community nurse but asked for the chat to be rearranged as she had clients to see.

She went to work then later asked her boyfriend to pick her up from her home in Wakefield when the tragedy unfolded.

The court heard the HMET (Homicide and Major Enquiry Team) investigated Leah’s death but found no suspicious circumstances.

Hayley said: “Our family liaison officer told us she took her own life. She never expressed to us she wanted to do that.

“As her parents we are so shocked at what happened. We never saw this coming and are devastated.”

Recording a verdict of suicide, the coroner said Leah had deliberately falling from the van after trying to “cope with the demons in her life”.
