The 90s kids’ classic Round the Twist, based on the family who lived in a lighthouse – has been turned into a new stage musical based on the much-loved 1980s TV show.
Stars of the retro series reunited at Brisbane’s QPAC to mark the new stage performance including the three ‘Lindas’; Tamsin West, Joelene Crnogorac and Ebonnie Masini.
Former Bronson Twist star Jeffrey Walker, who joined the show in the second season in 1993, joined in the celebration of the musical.
The former actor went onto direct movies Riot, Lambs of God and nine episodes of Modern Family.
Jeffrey’s directorial journey began in the mid-2000s with episodes of the long-running Australian soap opera, Neighbours.
He has since directed multiple episodes Modern Family, as well as The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Young Sheldon.
The musical is headed up by Paul Hodge and based on the series created by author Paul Jennings.
The weird and wonderful musical is directed by Simon Phillips and produced by RGM’s co founder Garry McQuinn (Priscilla Queen of the Desert).
Round the Twist: The Musical premiered Down Under and plays until December 8th.
Trio Tamsin West, Joelene Crnogorac, Ebonnie Masini – all played Linda as the show recast the character three times.
Tamsin, 50, appeared on one season as Linda Twist and sang the iconic Round The Twist theme tune. After a brief stint on Ramsey Street, she quit acting in 1995.
Joelene Crnogorac, 45, was Linda 2.0 in the second season, but left shortly after.
She went onto star alongside a young Hugh Jackman and Guy Pearce in Snowy River: The McGregor Saga, plus Aussie dramas Ocean Girl, Blue Heelers and Neighbours.
The third and final Linda Twist was played by Ebonnie Masini, 40, for seasons three and four. She went onto appear in Blue Heelers and Shock Jock.
The former actor is now a fashion designer and launched a label, Masini.
The award-winning TV show became a global sensation that was picked up from Sweden to Sri Lanka.
Hodge said about creating the stage show: “I didn’t realise when I started writing it how well known it is outside of Australia.
“It was probably even bigger in the UK than it is in Australia. It premiered on the BBC first, because Channel Seven was dragging their feet about airing it – so the BBC had already aired it, and was already asking for a second season, before Australia had even seen it.”
In each episode, the kids encountered all sorts of the surreal and supernatural, from a tree spirit that impregnates whoever urinates on its tree, to a magical chapstick that makes every woman fall under your love spell.
Round the Twist had four seasons, the first two airing between 1989 and 1993, and the latter from 2000 to 2001.

Yanai shared details about the beatings and abuse she endured as a hostage while on stage with the UCLA encampment leader Aidan Doyle.
The freed hostage was held for 54 days and told a crowd how she suffered from a broken leg and bruises when she tried to flee from the festival, as well as the sexual assault she faced while captured.
Yanai directed much of her story to Doyle who appeared to mostly look at the floor as the freed hostage was talking to him, per The Gr8 Debate.
She described her account of the ordeal she faced on October 7.
The freed hostage had been at the festival where she set up her jewelry stand to sell to ravers.
Yanai added that she attempted to escape through the desert near Mount Negev but broke her leg on the way.
“When I was taken to Gaza I was kidnapped, I was caught three times,” Yanai said.
“On the last time, I was caught by 13 Hamas terrorists. 13.”
Yanai also described how she believed some citizens of Gaza celebrated her capture.
“I saw 100% of civilians celebrating me being taken, I didn’t know about the other hostages,” she said.
“I thought it was only me.”
“I respected them even when they abused me cause I believe if I want to be respected I have to respect everybody else,” she added.
Yanai added that this moment was caught in a TikTok video that her 12-year-old niece came across online.
The freed hostage explained that the shocking video was how her parents discovered she had been kidnapped.

Keen to open up on her addiction, the mum-of-one took to social media to reveal all, leaving many open-mouthed.
Posting on Reddit, on the r/IAmA thread, the woman titled her post ‘I am a woman who is a sex addict.’
The mother, who has a three-month-old son, explained: “It has become a problem in my life currently.
“My marriage is falling apart due to my constant desire for sex.
“I am not above help in any way. I will answer any question, no matter how vulgar or offensive.
“I have a lot of experience (obviously) and have done things most people would not.”
The woman then explained that as a result of her sex addiction, she regrets getting married, as she admitted: “I don’t think it’s fair to either one of us.”
She also revealed the most “dangerous” situation that she has put herself into to satisfy her needs, as she claimed: “Probably having sex with a complete and total stranger I met at a bar.
“He could have been a serial killer. I never went to a stranger’s house after that.”
Not only has she bonked a stranger in a bar, but she added that she will do “anything and everything” when it comes to sex.
She listed her sexual activities and wrote: “Threesomes, foursomes, full on orgies, golden showers, sex dolls, having sex with random strangers.”
As well as being incredibly experienced in the bedroom, she’s also slept with men and women and isn’t fussy when it comes to choosing her sexual partners.

The mother shared: “I do enjoy women very much. My husband is definitely not ok with me having sex with another woman without himself being involved.
“It has been a problem in our marriage because there are times when I strictly only want to be with a woman sexually.
“I have not cheated on my husband. If we do continue our marriage and we cannot come to a compromise, then we will get a divorce.
“I have had approximately 320 partners, both male and female.”

But although she has bedded over 300 people, she claimed that she has never had a sexually-transmitted infection, as she confessed: “I always use protection or it does not happen.

“I have been dumped or left by every man I have been romantically involved with.
