BBC set to reveal huge new sports quiz show based on long-running fan favourite

IT’S been talked about for months, but the BBC has finally confirmed it is making Have I Got Sport For You.

A spin-off of Have I Got News For You, I can reveal it will be hosted by comedian Jason Manford, with panellists including promoter Eddie Hearn and Paralympian Kadeena Cox.

A sports version of Have I Got News For You has been filmed – and will be hosted by Jason Manford[/caption]

The first outing will be a festive special looking back on the past year of sport.

But bosses hope it will become a full series which, like the 34-year-old HIGNFY, will reflect on the week’s events.

A TV insider said: “This spin-off will follow a similar format to the current affairs show, in that it will take a lighter look at the world of sport.

“Obviously it will draw some comparisons with the now defunct A Question Of Sport, but that was much more of a straight quiz, whereas the quiz element with HIGNFY plays second fiddle to the banter.”

Which is exactly why they’ve given the hosting job to funnyman Jason, who has previously appeared on A Question Of Sport and has taken part in Sport Relief.

Confirming the news, Jason said: “It’s such a privilege to be hosting this show — a sports version of Have I Got News For You.

“It’s an idea that’s so good, it only took them 34 years to come up with it.”

The special has just been filmed in Hammersmith, West London, and is likely to air towards the end of the year.

Then there are hopes it might become a full series at some point in 2025, with Jason as the permanent host.

Yesterday, Beeb bosses were keeping quiet about who was on the full line-up of the panel for the special.

A spokesman for the show said: “As with all starting line-ups, any players would be confirmed just before kick-off.”

Here’s hoping they haven’t had to pay their signings the usual footballers’ wages, too.

CELEBS HUNT FOR COUNTRY ESCAPE

THE celebrity version of Escape To The Country is returning for Christmas.

Each one-hour episode of the BBC One series will see a different star – former sprinter Linford Christie, singer Alfie Boe, broadcaster Anita Rani, H from Steps, journalist Kaye Adams and entrepreneur Tim Campbell – hunt for a rural retreat, while also hearing about why they’re thinking about quitting the city.

The search for the perfect homes will take place across the UK.

The BBC’s Julie Shaw said: “This series we get an insight into the celebrities, their careers and their families, essentially the journey they’ve been on from where they began long before the cameras and spotlights.”

The first series drew in three million viewers and the new outing begins next month.

LEG IT ALL OUT, CLARA

CLARA Amfo looks a shining beacon of body positivity – but she has had to fight an inner battle to accept her body image.

The Radio 1 DJ turned telly host even considered liposuction last year.

She told Women’s Health magazine: “I’ll be so real with you, I was debating having lipo because I got in my head.

“I had the consultation and everything. Then I obsessively researched things so I think I scared myself out of it to be honest.”

As the lifestyle mag’s cover girl, she added: “This is the body that I like. I think I look good.

“But you step up, particularly into the media or entertainment world, and be like, damn, should I be hating myself right now?

“Everyone is really thin. You’ve really got to hold your nerve to stay so confident in yourself.”

VANESSA: MY JUICY SECRET

VANESSA WILLIAMS has carved out a niche playing fabulous divas in shows such as Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives.

But she is surprisingly downmarket in her tastes.

While staying in the UK to star in The Devil Wears Prada in the West End, she confessed: “I’ve been watching Married At First Sight, I’m obsessed with it. I watch the American one, but the UK one is much better. Really juicy!”

She plays magazine boss Miranda Priestly in the theatre show – and it’s been challenging.

She added on the Dish podcast: “At 61, my mind is not as agile as these twenty-somethings that can memorise new lyrics and lines.

“I’ve got sticky notes and pads all over the place.”

I’m A Celeb’s Tulisa reveals her real name – and how fans have been saying it wrong the whole time

I’M A Celebrity star Tulisa Contostavlos has revealed her real name – and it is not ‘Tulisa’.

The N-Dubz star, 36, shocked fans with her birth moniker just before heading into the jungle and confirmed that fans have been saying it all wrong.

Fans have been saying Tulisa’s name wrong since 2007[/caption]

Since finding fame in 2007, Tulisa has only ever been known in the public eye as exactly that – Tulisa.

But speaking to Olivia Attwood for her So Wrong It’s Right podcast just before flying to Australia, Tulisa revealed it is not her name.

The music star and former X Factor judge is actually called Tula.

Olivia asked: “Tulisa is not your actual name?”

She replied: “No, it isn’t. You’re the first person to bring that up ever. I love that. Fresh energy!”

Looking chuffed, Olivia said: “It’s Tula?”

Using a Greek accent, Tulisa explained: “Tula. My grandmother is also called Tula, so I was named after her.

“So ‘Tulisa’ means ‘tiny Tula’ in Greek, because I’m half Greek.

“Then if you pronounce Tulisa in British, it’s ‘Tu-lisaa’.”

Laughing, Olivia said: “We just butcher it!”

Tulisa continued: “Yeah, so that ended up being my nickname anyway growing up in Greek.”

Together with her cousin Dappy and his best friend Fazer, Tulisa formed N-Dubz when she was just 11 years old.

It took seven years until the hip-hop and grime group broke into the mainstream music industry.

In 2011 and 2012, Tulisa – then aged just 22 – landed a spot on The X Factor as a judge.

But even then, her name was announced as ‘Tulisa’ each week as the show went out to millions.

On Sunday, Tulisa entered this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! as a campmate.

Fans, however, are already wondering if there is a feud bubbling away between the star and another campmate.

During Monday night’s episode, the celebs cooked camp dinner for second time and passionate amateur chef Tulisa stepped back to give Danny Jones a go.

I'm A Celebrity 2024

As the hit ITV show enters into its 24th series, a brand new batch of famous faces look set to enter the Aussie jungle once again to face terrifying Bushtucker Trials and living amongst the critters in camp in order to come out on top and be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle. The Sun's Jake Penkethman takes a look at the stars heading Down Under this year...

  • Coleen Rooney – Arguably the most famous name heading into the camp, the leading WAG, known for her marriage to Wayne Rooney, will be making a grand return to TV as she looks to put the Wagatha Christie scandal behind her. The Sun revealed the mum-of-four had bagged an eye-watering deal worth over £1.5million to head into the camp this year making her the highest-paid contestant ever.
  • Tulisa – The popstar and former X Factor judge looks set to be making a triumphant TV comeback by signing up to this year’s I’m A Celeb after shunning TV shows for many years. Known for being a member of the trio, N-Dubz, Tulisa became a household name back in 2011 when she signed on to replace Cheryl on ITV show The X Factor in a multi-million pound deal.
  • Alan Halsall – The actor, known for playing the long-running role of Tyrone Dobbs on ITV soap opera Coronation Street, was originally signed up to head Down Under last year but an operation threw his scheduled appearance off-course. Now he will be hoping to become the latest Corrie star to win over both the viewers and his fellow celebrities when he gets into camp.
  • Melvin Odoom – The Radio DJ has become a regular face on TV screens after rising to fame with presenting roles on Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1 and 4Music. He has already been for a spin on the Strictly dancefloor and co-hosted The Xtra Factor with Rochelle Humes in 2015 but now he is facing up to his biggest challenge yet – the Aussie jungle.
  • GK Barry – The UK’s biggest social media personality, GK, whose real name is Grace Keeling, has transformed her TikTok stardom into a lucrative career. Aside from her popular social media channels, she hosts the weekly podcast, Saving Grace, and regularly appears on ITV talk show, Loose Women. She has even gone on to endorse popular brand such as PrettyLittleThing, KFC and Ann Summers.
  • Dean McCullough – A rising star amongst this year’s bunch of celebs, Dean first achieved notability through his radio appearances on Gaydio and BBC Radio 1. He was chosen to join the BBC station permanently in 2021 and has featured prominently ever since. He has enjoyed a crossover to ITV over the past year thanks to his guest slots on Big Brother spin-off show, Late & Live.
  • Oti Mabuse – The pro dancer has signed up to her latest TV show after making her way through the biggest programmes on the box. She origianlly found fame on Strictly Come Dancing but has since branched out into the world of TV judging with appearances on former BBC show The Greatest Dancer as well as her current role on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.
  • Danny Jones – The McFly star was drafted into the programme last minute as a replacement for Tommy Fury. Danny is the second member of McFly to enter the jungle, after Dougie Poynter won the show in 2011. He is also considered a rising star on ITV as he’s now one of the mentors on their Saturday night talent show, The Voice, along with bandmate Tom. A jungle insider said: “As well as bringing some of the star appeal of the group with him, he’ll be supplying some serious guy candy for the campmates and viewers at home.”
  • Maura Higgins – The Irish TV beauty first found fame on Love Island where she found a brief connection with dancer Curtis Pritchard. Since then, she has competed on Dancing On Ice as well as hosting the Irish version of the beauty contest, Glow Up. Since last year, she has been working on building up her career in the US by being the social media correspondent and host of Aftersun to accompany Love Island USA. She even guest hosted an episode of the spin-off, Love Island Games, in place of Maya Jama last year.
  • Jane Moore – The Loose Women star and The Sun columnist will be braving the creepy crawlies this year. The star is ready for a new challenge – having recently split from her husband. It will be Jane’s first foray into reality TV with the telly favourite having always said no to reality shows in the past.
  • Barry McGuigan – Former pro boxer Barry will become the latest fighting champ to head Down Under following in the footsteps of Tony Bellew and Amir Khan. It comes after a tough few years for Irish star Barry, who lost his daughter Danika to breast cancer. He told The Late Late Show in 2021: “She was such an intrinsic part of the family that every day we ache.”
  • Rev. Richard Coles – Former BBC radio host the Rev Richard Coles is set for I’m A Celebrity — and is ready to let rip at his old employer. The former Communards and Strictly star, 62, said the BBC did not know its a**e from its elbow last year.An insider said: “Rev Coles will have a variety of tales to tell from his wild days as a pop star in the Eighties, through to performing on Strictly and his later life as a man of the cloth.”
  • But Tulisa couldn’t help but take a savage swipe as she watched on from afar.

McFly star Danny and his sous chef Melvin Odoom began cooking crocodile tail and Tulisa was given updates throughout.

In the Bush Telegraph, she admitted: “Part of me was really frustrated. I just wanted to get stuck in and say ‘let me do it’ or ‘just give it to me’.

“But then the other part of me was like, ‘Can you just do it for me please?'”

As Danny and Melvin were prepping the meal in a torrential thunderstorm, Tulisa asked: “Guys, are you heating oil in that pan?

“If it’s sitting on that flame there it’ll just start smoking.”

The scene cut to Melvin in the Bush Telegraph, who said: “I could see Tulisa was looking from afar and looking for kind of things and nod if that’s a good idea or stare if she thinks something didn’t sound right.”

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: “Can someone tell this to Tulisa? Girlll, Danny Jones was a MasterChef finalist.”
