Rush hour ScotRail trains cancelled after tree falls on line amid snow chaos

SCOTRAIL trains have been cancelled during rush hour due to a tree on the tracks.

Commuters travelling between Keith and Huntley in Aberdeenshire are facing disruption.

The train operator advised of cancellations, delays or revised timetables.

Rail staff are working to resolve the issue and resume normal service.

The announcement was made to ScotRail‘s 295,000 X followers.

An online post reads: “Due to a tree blocking the railway between Keith and Huntly all lines are blocked.

“Train services running through these stations will be cancelled, delayed or revised.

“Staff are being arranged to remove the tree.”

A later update advises passengers that tickets will be accepted with Stagecoach North.

The following services will accept rail passengers Service 10: InvernessAberdeen Service 11: Inverness – Nairn Service 35: Aberdeen – Dyce Service 37 Aberdeen – Inverurie.

A recent update reads: “Passengers are advised to make alternative arrangements or postpone their journey until weather conditions improve, ticket acceptance is still in place with Stagecoach North.”

Elsewhere ScotRail is set to cut opening hours at dozens of ticket offices across Scotland.

The public train operator said the changes are due to “changing travel and ticket purchasing patterns”.

There has been a 50 per cent drop in station ticket office sales, according to ScotRail.

In 2021, the firm published findings which showed a significant rise in the number of tickets purchased on the firm’s website, app, or at station machines.

It found that there had been a large decline in customers buying tickets at offices.

ScotRail said while slashing ticket office opening hours, it will aim to “deliver more visible customer support” at stations.

The operator will cut the opening hours of 54 ticket offices, while 12 offices will see opening hours increase.

The changes follow a consultation by the independent passenger watchdog Transport Focus.

The alterations will not impact trains stopping at stations and no ticket offices will permanently shut, with no job losses or redundancies either.

ScotRail said customers will benefit from a greater staff presence, assisting with ticket selling and inspections and tackling anti-social behaviour.

Platform help points will offer customers advice on buying tickets.

The changes will be introduced next year.

I tried everything to tackle mould but it kept on coming back – a 99p buy from Home Bargains was a game-changer

WITH temperatures now dropping, millions of households around the world are dealing with the same issue – mould.

According to data by Homebrite, the problem is huge – an astronomical 58% of privately rented households across England have reported damp, mould and/or excessive cold.

With winter fast approaching, thousands of Britons have been taking to social media to seek advice on how to tackle mould[/caption]

Luckily, thrifty Home Bargains shoppers have found a solution that costs less than a quid[/caption]

But not can only black spores make for an unsightly mess, the widespread fungi, as well as being exposed by dampness, can also have a negative impact on your health.

The NHS warned that those particularly vulnerable are people with respiratory problems, respiratory infections, allergies or asthma, as well as newborns, young children and the elderly.

Being exposed to and inhaling the mould spores can cause a range of issues, such as sneezing, a runny nose, red eyes and skin rash.

In some cases mould can also cause asthma attacks.

As autumn is well and truly here, hundreds of Brits have been taking to social media to seek advice and share their top tips to tackle mould.

Amongst them was also one anonymous Facebook user who shared their woes on the popular Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips page.

The person wrote: ”How to stop mould on inside of walls of the window?

”I’ve tried white vinegar. I’ve tried all the mould sprays. It keeps coming back.”

Luckily for the anonymous member – as well as anyone else dealing with the common issue – the post was soon inundated with responses.

More than a dozen people flooded to the comments section to share their favourite remedies, which ranged from simple solutions to snapping up bargains from the high street.

One suggested: ”You could open the window for a while. Then put heating in the room.”

Another recommended: ”Mould Magic from Must Have Ideas ( online shop)….Its a gel that is left on for a few hours then wiped off.

”Only recently used so, don’t know yet How long it will be effective for….But it Does work.”

A third added: ”Once you’ve removed it, wipe over with tea tree oil as it kills the spores and stops more mould from growing.”

However, there was one response more popular than any other – buying a dehumidifier.

A winter staple for many households, a dehumidifier works ”by drawing air from the room over a coil cooled to a very low temperature by a refrigeration system”, explained the experts at the Breathing Space.

The water vapour then condenses on the cold surface and the water drips into the collection bucket underneath.

Although you can buy the nifty winter gadget from many retailers, including Amazon, there’s no need to fork out a fortune, as one person revealed they bagged it for under a quid.

”We have these in our windowsills to collect the moisture. 99p from Home Bargains.

Those looking to get their hands on the must-have gadget can buy a pack of 12 Ambient Air Interior Dehumidifiers for £9.48 – which works out to be just 79p per each mini dehumidifier.

Great to remove damp air from rooms and improve air quality, this Home Bargains find will also make your house smell great, as it comes in three gorgeous scents – vanilla, cherry and lavender.

Throughout their five years together, they sold 70 million records and landed four UK No1 singles and four UK No1 albums.

Speaking in 2022, Liam said he hoped to be remembered simply as being a “nice guy” rather than his musical accolades .

Liam said: “Honestly, just being a nice guy. I’d rather be known for being a nice guy than anything else.”

‘She throws that in my face every day’ – Man Utd boss Amorim reveals his regret that wife Maria always brings up

RUBEN AMORIM shared his big regret that his wife Maria loves to tease him with.

The new Manchester United boss is preparing for his first game in charge against Ipswich this weekend.

It has been a long journey to that position, from heartbreak at his release from Benfica as a teenager, to winning titles with the club he later re-joined in his career.

His love for football and its priority in his life meant he was unable to complete his school exams – and he still regrets not having a better education.

Amorim, 39, revealed he still gets teased by his wife, Maria Joao Diogo, for leaving school before taking his exams, aged 18.

By then, the player who was released by Benfica as a youngster had already signed a professional contract with another Lisbon side, Belenenses.

Amorim told Portuguese paper Expresso: “I had an agreement with my mother.

“I would continue at school until I signed a professional contract.

“I signed when I was 17. Today, I regret it a lot. If I’d taken my exams, I could have done the 12th year.

“I could also have entered a top college.

Ruben Amorim is ‘Mourinho 2.0’ who turned Sporting from ‘walking dead’ into Portuguese champs… he can revive Man Utd

WHEN Ruben Amorim took charge of Sporting Lisbon in March 2020, one club official compared their situation to the “walking dead”, writes Jordan Davies.

Optimism and hope was at an all-time low.

But the Amorim-effect was almost instantaneous, guiding the Portuguese sleeping giants to their first league title for 19 years in 2020/21, losing just once and only conceding 20 goals.

Since then, Sporting have lifted another league title in 2023/24 – as well as two League Cups – and currently sit top with nine wins from nine this term.

He may be young, but Amorim already has an eye for rebuilding and revitalising fallen super powers with his infectious charisma and intense tactical philosophy that hardly ever wavers.

The “walking dead” at Manchester United must be praying for a similar sort of revival.

And they may just get it from one of the most talented young coaches on the continent – a man accustomed to breathing new life back into crumbling institutions such as Old Trafford.

Amorim has spent the last decade dreaming of one day gracing England’s Premier League, such was his admiration for an ex-United boss in Jose Mourinho growing up.

Often nicknamed ‘Mourinho 2.0’, Amorim spent a week with his coaching idol in an internship capacity at United’s Carrington training base in 2018, going on to cite him as his “reference point”.

United should not be expecting a mini-Mourinho, as Amorim said himself: “Mourinho is one of a kind. There won’t be another Mourinho. Mourinho is unique.”

And yet, you cannot help but compare the two.

For all the mismanagement in the Old Trafford hot seats over the years, this would be a real get – finally a slap in the face United’s Prem rivals have no answer for.

“My wife is an electrotechnical engineer and she throws that in my face every day.”

Maria is also an interior designer and she married Amorim in 2013 – the couple have two children together.

Together with Raquel Viana, she created Dois Tons, who offer interior, home staging, lighting, and turnkey projects as well as preparation of plans and layouts.

Their website states that the objective is to design spaces in which “the client’s personality, needs and lifestyle become the pillar of the creative process”.

Watch awkward moment journalist tells Ghana manager ‘you are not good at coaching’ in fiery press conference

GHANA manager Otto Addo was told “you are not good at all” in a heated exchange with a journalist after failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars’ fate was sealed on Friday when they could only manage a 1-1 draw away in Angola.

Then on Monday they suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Niger to extend their winless run to six matches as they finished bottom of their group.

It means they will not compete in the next Africa Cup of Nations – which runs from December 2025 to January 2026.

It is the first time since the 2004 tournament that Ghana have missed out on qualification for the finals.

And things came to a head in Addo’s presser following the Niger loss.

Attempting to defend himself, the Ghana head coach said: “Two years of coaching and six months of scouting. Now I ask you what am I?

“And during the scouting also I was coaching. I was not, I never stopped. What am I?”

Shockingly, the journalist he was speaking to then responded with a damning put down.

He replied: “Well I think your scouting is better than your coaching.

“So you are [more] good at scouting than coaching because the coaching you are not good at all.”

Addo, who earned 15 caps as a Ghanaian player, is in his second spell as national team boss.

He spent 10 months in charge in 2022, leading them to qualification for the World Cup.

And while they were eliminated in the group stage, Addo made history by becoming the first Ghanaian coach to win a match at a World Cup in a 3-2 win over South Korea.

He left after the tournament, but returned in March this year.

He has taken charge of 10 matches in his second stint, winning just two.
