Scotmid has shopping all wrapped up for Christmas
SCOTMID is helping its customers celebrate Christmas in style this year with a fabulous range of festive goodies, gorgeous gift packs.
And treats inspired by the TikTok trend for freeze-drying your favourite candy as well some classic Scottish sweets and tipples are bound to fly off the shelves.
The convenience chain, Scotland’s largest independent co-operative, knows that rising costs have left many of us feeling the pinch.
But its brilliant selection of great value snacks and drinks – from sharing bags of savoury snacks to Tunnock’s treats and fancy tipples – means there is plenty to suit every pocket, as well as every palette.
And best of all, loads of these are locally produced, so shopping at Scotmid means you’ll be doing your bit to support Scottish businesses at the same time.
Steven Addison, Local Sourcing Manager, said: “Part of my role is to find products that are different, something you might not expect to find in store, that are also affordable.
“It’s always exciting when the Christmas ranges arrive – there’s a real buzz when new lines are on the shelves and it’s great to see people’s reaction to them.”
One of the items he’s most excited about this year is Bebeto’s ‘Freeze Crunchy’ range, inspired by TikTok videos where fans freeze-dry their sweets at home.
It’s a process that sees the sugary treats double in size, giving them a light, crispy crunch and a burst of full-on flavour. The sweets are £2 a pack and include peach rings, watermelon and marshmallows.
Steven said: “I can’t wait to see what our customers make of them – they’re very new, a bit quirky, and great value too.
“We are also proud to partner with local suppliers and we have some great festive Scots favourites in our stores this year, which customers will love.”
Celebrate the festive season with seasonal crisp flavours made by Taylors Snacks at their factory in Errol, Perthshire? Their Hot Honey Pigs in Blankets and Boxing Day Curry flavour thick-cut crisps are sure to be a hit with everyone.
For sweet treats, Buchanan’s have launched a new gift box range of their best-selling lines, produced at the Golden Casket factory in Greenock, Inverclyde – and Scotmid is the first retailer in Scotland to stock them.
The packs, containing Chocolate Peppermint Creams, Chocolate Caramels and mouth-watering Mint Crumbles, are great for sharing – and cost just £2.50 each.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Tunnock’s teacakes and snowballs of course, and this year their pouches of mini caramel wafers and mini caramel logs are on a mix and match 2 for £3 deal at Scotmid – so they’ll be flying off the shelves.
Stock up with delicious all-butter shortbread from Walkers too.
Their Christmas range includes super cute Scottie dogs and other festive shapes created in Aberlour, Moray.
Borders Biscuits are another firm favourite and their Dark Chocolate Gingers gift box, at £4, is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

FAIR PLAY
DID you know that Fairtrade turns 30 this year?
Scotmid was one of the first retailers to stock Fairtrade certified products – including things like tea, coffee, sugar and bananas – back in 1994.
Since then, Fairtrade has helped millions of farmers and works in 58 countries secure a fair price for what they grow and raised living standards too.
Why not help mark this milestone birthday by celebrating with some of Scotmid’s festive products – including their first ever Fairtrade Tilimuqui Sparkling Wine, at £9.50 a bottle – and chocolate coins and lollies, on sale at 3 for £2.50?
Or tuck into Scotmid’s Christmas cakes, made with Fairtrade certified ingredients.
Steven Addison said: “Fairtrade is about making sure that what we sell comes from people who are paid a fair price for their products and can have a better standard of living.
“It means that Scotmid supports the local communities where these products are made just as we aim to support and serve our local communities here.”
Steven, who is based at Scotmid’s HQ in Newbridge, Edinburgh, added: “Scotmid’s core purpose is serving our communities and improving people’s everyday lives.
“We know that times are challenging, so we focus on delivering top quality products that offer great value for money.
“We are also delighted to be able to champion Scottish products and bring them to our customers – especially at Christmas.”
