Wetherspoons reveals when 664 pubs will open on Christmas Day – is one near you?

WETHERSPOON is set to open more than 600 pubs on Christmas Day, allowing punters to get together and mark the occasion.

The pub giant has revealed to The Sun the complete list 664 branches that will open on December 25.

Venues across the country – from Scotland to Kent – will open their doors and give families and friends a chance to get together and raise a toast to the festive season.

Wetherspoon will be serving a variety of drinks, including draught pints, spirits, wine and fizz.

If you like to plan ahead, you can find the drinks offering at your local Wetherspoons on the chain’s website.

All branches on the list will stay open for four hours from 11am to 3pm.

But it’s important to note that pubs will not serve food, so you’ll have to make alternative plans for your Christmas lunch.

The Sun has asked Wetherspoon pubs if kitchens in its airport pubs will be open and we will update this article one we hear back.

This includes sites in London Gatwick, Heathrow and Birmingham airports.

You can find your nearest Wetherspoons using the pub locator tool on its website.

Out of the 797 Wetherspoons pubs nationwide, only 133 will remain closed on the big day.

Most high street shops close their doors on Christmas Day, but pubs are slightly different.

It’s mainly the chain pubs open on 25 December, including certain branches of Young’s, Fullers and Greene King.

Their opening hours may be restricted and vary depending on local licensing laws and the discretion of the pub owner.

It is always a good idea to check with individual pubs in advance to confirm their specific opening times on Christmas Day.

Plus, ome pubs may offer special Christmas menus or events, so booking in advance is often recommended.

Below is a full list of Wetherspoons pubs that will open on Christmas Day this year:

Wetherspoons Christmas menu

Wetherspoon has unveiled its 2024 Christmas menu including a brie pizza.

The pub chain’s festive range is available from now until December 31 with some tasty bites and meal deals on offer.

Hungry punters will be able to snap up a new 11 inch cheese pizza combining gooey mozzarella, brie, cheddar, blue cheese sauce topped with rocket from £9.84.

Those with less of an appetite can get a smaller eight inch portion for £6.51.

It’s not the first time Wetherspoons has launched a festive-themed pizza though as it unveiled a chicken, stuffing, bacon and brie pizza in 2022.

There’s also a new vegan five gold rings burger on offer from £10.43, combining a Beyond Meat plant-based patty, BBQ sauce, iceberg lettuce, tomato and red onion, topped with five onion rings.

The Sun tried the Spoons Christmas menu before anyone else and you can read our review here.

How can I save money at Wetherspoons?

PUB-GOERS love Wetherspoons for its competitive pricing and low-cost meals - but did you know there are more ways to save money?

Senior consumer reporter Olivia Marshall explains how.

Free refills – Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.

Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.

So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.

Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.

For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.

Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in

their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.

Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.

Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.

Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.

It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.

As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.

Strictly’s Pete Wicks dealt crushing blow ahead of week 10 and ‘brand-new challenge’

STRICTLY’S Pete Wicks has been dealt a crushing blow ahead of a ‘brand-new challenge’ in week 10.

Towie star Pete, 35, is the 11-10 favourite with leading bookmaker Coral to be eliminated from the competition this weekend.

It comes just days ahead of the show’s upcoming installment, which promises a big challenge for the remaining contestants.

Pete faces increasing pressure on the dance floor, and the odds suggest he may be the next celebrity to leave the competition.

He is expected to face a tough battle in the upcoming dance-off, with Montell Douglas, the 5-2 second favourite, also in danger of elimination.

In the race for the Glitterball Trophy, Chris McCausland is firmly in the lead, now priced at 1-4, with Sarah Hadland trailing behind at 4-1.

Coral’s John Hill said, “Pete Wicks tops the betting to be the latest contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. We think he could be in the dance-off with Montell.”

The odds for the next elimination show Pete Wicks at 11-10, followed by Montell Douglas at 5-2, JB Gill at 7-2, Jamie Borthwick at 6-1, Sarah Hadland at 66-1, and Chris McCausland at 100-1.

This week Pete and Jowita will dance the Tango to Easy Lover by Phillip Bailey and Phil Collins.

It comes after fans ‘worked out’ the reason Pete avoided the bottom two last week.

For their Blackpool week Cha Cha Pete wore a pair of skintight pink PVC trousers.

After Pete faced criticism for the performance, viewers insisted it was his costume that saved him.

Writing on social media, one said: “I can only assume people were voting for the pink trousers as it sure as hell wasn’t the dancing!”

Someone else wrote: “So how the hell did Pink Pete not be in the dance-off?

“His Cha Cha was the worst dance of the night! Must have been the Pink trousers that won it for him.”

And a third added: “Please vote for the dancing, not the pink trousers! He was shocking.”

She’s since been making money as an entrepreneur – working as an independent travel agent and flogging her clothes online.

Having been inspired by her friend and former co-star Kelsey Stratford‘s making massive wads of cash on OnlyFans, Chloe is excited to give it a go herself.

Chloe told The Sun: “I’m so excited about this, it’s always been something I’ve thought about doing. What I’ve noticed about TV and ads on Instagram is it’s in the hands of someone else.

“I just want to take control. I want to create

“I’ve seen Kerry Katona do it and make millions. There’s such a stigma but there’s no shame in doing it.

“It’s not porn. I’m doing nice underwear shoots that people post on Instagram for free.

“I’ll be posting sexy photos like Playboy glamour magazines.I want it to be true to myself.”

The 23-year-old joined Towie back in 2019 and quickly became one of the series most popular and controversial stars.

Many ex-reality TV stars cash-in on OnlyFans, following in the footsteps of major American names, including Blac Chyna who reportedly earns £65,000 a month.

Chloe added: “I’ve felt a bit lost since quitting Towie, but I think it was the right decision since seeing the viewing figures.

“I’m not bashing the show because it gave me the platform but it was definitely the right time for me to go and now it’s about looking forward.

“I’ve watched Kelsey change her life through doing OnlyFans. I’m so excited about the future.”

Chloe has also starred on MTV’s Celeb Ex on the Beach and Celebs Go Dating on E4.

Coronation Street mystery solved after Joel Deering’s body was found in a ‘body bag’ – did you spot what really happened

ONE of Coronation Street’s lingering mysteries has finally been cleared up, shedding light on the circumstances of Joel Deering’s death.

Fans of the ITV soap have been puzzled over a specific detail about Joel’s murder.

Lauren Bolton confessed to being the murderer – but some viewers spotted a blunder[/caption]

The character was killed on September 27, and his body was later discovered in a river.

Some viewers believed Joel was wrapped in a body bag when he was found, but soap expert Sharon Marshall has put those theories to rest.

The ‘Queen of Soaps’ from This Morning took to social media, clarifying: “Ok., to answer this one.., Joel was not in a body bag!”

She shared a screenshot of the moment Joel’s body was discovered, adding: “He was face down, his jacket wet, and it was a trick of the light that made a rock look like his head… Joel IS dead. There is no extra twist coming.”

Corrie fans were relieved to have an explanation for the strange twist.

One person replied: “Thank you Sharon, this has been bugging me for ages. I can sleep at night now.”

Another added: “Thanks Sharon, this has kept my mum and I debating the possibility since Friday’s ep.”

The truth behind Joel’s murder was unveiled last week in a dramatic flashback.

It revealed that Lauren Bolton had killed Joel by hitting him with a rock after he tried to strangle her boyfriend, Max Turner.

Max ended up in prison after taking the blame.

Feeling guilty and concerned about Max’s welfare, Lauren confided in Shona Platt, who alerted David Platt to the situation.

The police were then brought in, and Lauren admitted to DC Kit Green that she was the one who had delivered the fatal blow to Joel.

The shop took to TikTok to set the record straight about the name origin, as they explained that it actually came about due to “a typo”.

“The company is originally called Unique Clothing Warehouse,” they wrote over the top of the clip.

“We wanted to register the brand under ‘Uniclo’.

“But in 1988, the staff in charge of registering, misread C for Q.

“The name stuck and now we’re known globally as UNIQLO!”

“Ever wondered how UNIQLO got its name?” they wrote in the caption.

And loads of people in the comments insisted that the error worked out well for everyone.

“There are no mistakes just happy accidents- Bob Ross,” one wrote.

To which Uniqlo replied: “You’re right!”

“Best typo ever. Everything’s aligned,” another added.

“The best mistake was made,” a third agreed.

“The typo makes the brand name better,” someone else commented.

While another laughed: “They had one job to do!”

Others even suggested the employees should have “got a raise”.

“Hope the staff who made the typo got a raise,” one wrote.

“Did the staff get a raise?” another wondered.

Why the high street still rules!

Fabulous’ Fashion Director, Tracey Lea Sayer shares her thoughts.

I WAS 10 when I first discovered the utter joy of high street shopping for clothes with my mum and nan.

Going into town on Saturday became a family tradition – a girls’ day out we would look forward to all week.

My mum’s favourite shop was M&S, where she would gaze at jackets with big shoulder pads and floral sundresses, while my nan would make a beeline for John Lewis and their classic coats and elegant court shoes.

I was all over Tammy Girl – Etam’s little sister – and Chelsea Girl, which was later rebranded to high street fave River Island.

I would spend hours in the changing rooms, watched keenly by my two cheerleaders, who gave the thumbs up – or thumbs down – on what I was trying on.

Frilly Ra-Ra skirts, duster coats, polka dot leggings, puff balls, boob tubes… I tried them all, often making my nan howl with laughter.

Fashion wasn’t so fast back in the 1980s and every item was cherished and worn until it fell apart – literally – at the seams.

At 18, I went to art college and my tastes became more refined.

Extra cash from a part-time job in a bar meant I could move on to slightly more expensive stores, like Warehouse, Miss Selfridge and the mecca that was Topshop.

I knew at this point I wanted to work in fashion because the high street had totally seduced me.

One day, I wrote an article for a competition in a glossy mag about my love of retail therapy and my favourite LBD – and I won!

That led me to where I am today – Fashion Director of Fabulous.

It’s not just me that loves the high street – big-name designers are fans, too. When ‘Cool Britannia’ hit in the Nineties, they all turned up in one big store.

‘Designers at Debenhams’ was a stroke of genius by Debenhams CEO Belinda Earl, designer Ben de Lisi and fashion director Spencer Hawken, who introduced diffusion ranges from John Rocha, Matthew Williamson and Betty Jackson to name a few.

This meant we could all afford a bit of luxury and wear a well-known designer’s signature style.

Years later I hosted a night with Debenhams and Fabulous for 250 readers, who were in awe meeting all the designers. It was a real career highlight for me.

In 2004, H&M started rolling out their international designer collabs.

Karl Lagerfeld was first, followed by Roberto Cavalli, Marni, Stella McCartney, Maison Martin Margiela, Sonia Rykiel, Comme des Garçons, Balmain, Versace and many, many more. I could barely contain myself!

Then in 2007, Kate Moss launched her first collection with Topshop, with thousands queuing along London’s Oxford Street.

I remember sitting behind Ms Moss and Topshop boss Philip Green at a London Fashion Week Topshop Unique catwalk show.

I had my three-year-old daughter, Frankie, in tow and we both made the news the next day after we were papped behind Kate, my supermodel girl crush.

At the time, the high street was on fire. Who needed designer buys when Mango stocked tin foil trousers just like the designer Isabel Marant ones and you could buy a bit of Barbara Hulanicki’s legendary brand Biba from Topshop?

High street stores even started to storm London Fashion week.

Although Topshop Unique had shown collections since 2001, in 2013 River Island showed its first collection in collaboration with global superstar Rihanna, who was flown in by a friend of mine on a private jet. KER-CHING!

A whole new generation of high profile high street collabs followed.

Beyoncé created Ivy Park with Topshop’s Philip Green and I even flew to LA for Fabulous to shoot the Kardashian sisters in their bodycon “Kollection” for Dorothy Perkins.

I am pleased to say they were the absolute dream cover stars.

Fast forward to 2024 and while the high street doesn’t look exactly like it did pre-Covid, it has made a gallant comeback.

Stores like M&S, Reserved and Zara, and designer collabs like Victoria Beckham X Mango and Rochelle Humes for Next are giving me all the feels.

The supermarkets have really come into their own, too, smashing it with gorgeous collections that look expensive, but at prices that still allow us to afford the weekly shop.

The last 30 years of high street fashion have been one big adventure for me. Bring on the next 30!

“Woah. Amazing! so what happened to the staff?” a third commented.

And there were loads who admitted they had no idea that’s where the name had come from.

“I have pants from Unique Clothing Warehouse,” one wrote.

“I didn’t realise that was Uniqlo,” another added.

“OMG I LOVE THAT,” a third commented.

“I used to watch Federer wear Uniqlo and thought it was UniQld (University of Queensland Australia),” someone else wrote.

“Didn’t realise until couple of years ago!”

“I thought it was UNIQLD as in a giant merch store for the university of queensland lollll,” another agreed.

“I like UNIQLO more, it’s more ‘unique’,” someone else insisted.
