ACTOR Richard Gere left a TV host lost for words as he flipped the bird at her live on air.
The star caused the presenter to gasp as he stuck his middle finger in her face during the awkward exchange.
Richard, aged 75, had stopped by US morning talk show The Today Show to discuss his brand new Paramount+ series, The Agency.
As his interview with the show’s host Samantha Guthrie got underway, it immediately got off to a bad start as he made the shocking rude gesture.
The programme aired the trailer for his new show before Samantha went on to introduce him but before she had time to say anything, Richard stuck his middle finger up at her in full view of the cameras.
Samantha did not know how to react; she stumbled and used her interview notes to fan his hand away from the cameras.
As her eyes widened, the host quipped: “You just did an obscene gesture on this family morning show.”
Scrambling, she could be heard saying: “I’m bleeping you.”
Attempting to explain what had happened, Richard insisted he was recreating a scene from his character that would have played out next from the trailer had it not been cut.
The actor said: “You didn’t show but that’s what I did in the piece.
“That’s what the clip was.”
Aiming to add more clarity amid the fluster of Richard’s mishap, Samantha interjected: “That’s what the clip was, but we cut that part out.
“But then you did it live.”
Richard confessed he did the gesture as the trailer “didn’t make any sense” without it.
The Agency features a star-studded cast with George Clooney amongst one of its producers.
As well as Richard, the show features Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright and Jodie Turner-Smith.
CONOR McGregor is in the High Court awaiting a verdict after the jury in his rape civil action began deliberations.
Mr Justice Alex Owens this afternoon completed his two-day charge to the jury of eight women and four men.
The panel will now deliver their verdict after sitting through eight days of evidence.
Nikita Hand, 35, has accused mixed martial arts fighter McGregor of a brutal rape after a Christmas night out.
The former hair colourist is seeking civil damages against the 36-year-old sports star over the alleged rape at a Dublin hotel penthouse in December 2018.
McGregor, who took the stand to claim he had consensual sex with Ms Hand, denies all allegations, as does co-defendant James Lawrence.
The jury in the High Court trial was sent out for deliberation at 3pm today following final remarks from the judge.
Judge Owens told jurors if they find that McGregor assaulted Ms Hand, they will have the option of awarding aggravated and punitive damages, as well as a general award of compensation.
Ms Hand has sued both Mr McGregor and Mr Lawrence, alleging the pair “brutally raped and battered” her in a hotel penthouse six years ago.
The complainant, from Drimnagh in Dublin, has claimed they both raped her in the Beacon Hotel, Dublin, on December 9, 2018, during a cocaine and alcohol-fuelled afterparty.
Both have denied her allegation, and claimed the sex was consensual.
