Ex-Rangers starlet makes emotional Man Utd debut FIFTEEN months after joining as she says ‘I loved every single second’
FOURTEEN months is a long time in football.
And it must have seemed like a lifetime for Scotland‘s women‘s star Emma Watson.
Emma Watson was crowned the best young player in Scotland[/caption] Emma Watson has returned to action[/caption]You may recall how the 17-year-old moved on from Ibrox after being named PFA Scotland Women’s Young Player of the Year award in June 2023.
The SFA performance school graduate said that walking away from the club to join Manchester Utd was the TOUGHEST thing she’s ever had to do in football.
She made her debut at the age of 15, playing a key role in a thrilling SWPL title race that season where Rangers lost out on the final day.
But disaster struck before she had kicked a ball for her new club, as she sustained a cruciate ligament injury on international duty with Scotland.
Having scored three goals in her first four appearances for Scotland, Watson was injured in the final training session before a 2-1 defeat to England.
But the good news is that she finally has some competitive minutes under her belt for Man Utd.
Watson played the full 90 minutes for the Old Trafford side in their 2-0 win over Everton in the League Cup.
A Courtney Brosnan own goal and a clincher from Maya Le Tissier did the damage for the Red Devils.
Afterwards a delighted Watson – one of two debutants on the night admitted it has been a tough 15 months.
She said: “Honestly it was amazing – one of the best days of my career.
“I think after the year we have had it has been so tough then 15 months later it just shows you all the hard work has paid off.
“I loved every single second on that pitch and I’m just so proud of us. What a night it has been.”

Millions of Bluesky must beware dangerously convincing ‘lion’ email – delete it immediately if it appears in your inbox
MILLIONS of people flocking to Bluesky have been issued an urgent warning over a dangerous scam email.
Only yesterday, The Sun revealed how Bluesky newbies were being targeted by costly – but worthless – app invites.
Bluesky had around three million members in February – but this has surged to an estimated 20 million today[/caption]Listings found on eBay showed the unnecessary Bluesky invites priced as high as $300 (around £230).
Now experts have told The Sun that there’s another ploy that cybercriminals will be trying – all in a bid to part you from your private info or cash.
Security expert Adam Pilton told us that these digital crooks are on the prowl like a “lion” as ex-X (previously Twitter) users rush to sign up to rival app Bluesky.
“Right now, people are moving to BlueSky as an alternative to and replacement for X,” said Adam, Senior Cybersecurity Consultant at CyberSmart, speaking to The Sun.
“Without a doubt, cybercriminals will exploit this.
“Like a lion tracking a herd of wildebeest, cyber criminals will be observing the migration from one platform to another, ready to pounce.
“We will undoubtedly see fake messages inviting users to BlueSky, along with links that claim to lead there but instead direct users to malicious websites.”
He warned that users need to look out for a very convincing scam email.
It works by preying on the fact that millions of people have signed up to Bluesky.
Crooks will send fake “authentication” emails asking for users to verify themselves.
And the hope is that these emails will land in the inboxes of people who have recently signed up.
Users often expect to receive this kind of message after creating an account – so it’s the perfect con.
“Over the coming days and weeks, as you receive these communications, it’s crucial to verify their authenticity,” Adam warned.
“You might be contacted by what appears to be BlueSky with a verification link for new users. Be cautious of these threats.
BLUESKY CHAOS – DON'T FALL FOR SCAMS!
Here's official advice from Paul Bischoff, Consumer Privacy Advocate at Comparitech, speaking to The Sun...
“Although Bluesky is still pretty tame for now, we might soon see an influx of scammers looking to capitalise on the mass migration from X.
“Scammers will clone popular X accounts that haven’t migrated yet to trick victims into following them. Scammers can then spread spam and scams through the fake accounts. Be careful who you follow!
“Cybercriminals are creating malicious Bluesky decoy apps that trick users into installing them.
“This can be particularly troublesome for users who don’t have access to Google Play or the App Store and have to rely on third-party app stores without a strict vetting and verification process, or in places where Bluesky is censored in major app stores.
“As with any social media, we’ll see bots, spam, and phishing. Users can contribute to moderation efforts by reporting these accounts, but they’ll never go away completely.”

“While BlueSky may seem familiar, its newness presents opportunities for cybercriminals to exploit our lack of understanding of the platform.
“They may impersonate BlueSky admins, other authority figures, or even celebrities.”
Bluesky is seeing a boom in popularity in recent weeks.
The app began life in 2019 as an internal Twitter project – but was split off in October 2022.
It then launched as an invite-only social media app in February 2023.
In February this year, Bluesky ended its invitation program – allowing anyone to sign up for free.
So if you see anyone selling Bluesky invites, ignore them: it’s a total scam.
“Unfortunately, with popularity comes scammers trying to profit from it,” said Erich Kron, security awareness advocate at KnowBe4, speaking to The Sun.
The app functions a lot like Twitter, allowing users to follow others, scroll through a feed, and make short posts[/caption]“With BlueSky being only available through invites for some time, scammers continue to work off that information, suckering people into paying for invites even though it is no longer necessary.
“Because people may be in a rush to stake claim on their username or for other reasons, they may not research the fact that invites are no longer needed.”
‘Beat the holiday queues’, declare Aer Lingus bosses as they reveal top winter travel hacks for Christmas
AER Lingus bosses have revealed their top winter travel hacks for Christmas to “beat the holiday queues.”
Christmas is one of the most busiest times at Dublin Airport, with an expected 32 million passengers throughout December.
Firstly, the Irish airline revealed passengers should beat the holiday chaos by checking in online.
This is an easy way to skip the queues and even select your seat in advance, which is perfect if you’re flying with family and want to sit together.
Once you’re checked in, you can grab your boarding pass before you even leave home and if you’re bringing bags, simply head to the bag drop area to get them sorted.
The next tip Aer Lingus has for passengers this winter is knowing your baggage allowance to avoid any last-minute surprises.
Check your booking through the Manage Trip section or the app, and if you need extra space, it’s cheaper to add bags online than at the airport.
When packing, Aer Lingus advises that passengers should keep their essentials and medications in your carry-on.
And if you’re taking gifts home with you this Christmas, hold off on wrapping them until you arrive at your destination in case your bag gets checked.
Don’t forget to prepare your travel documents ahead of time.
The airline said to make sure your passport is valid and that you have any required visas, plus download or print your boarding pass for a smooth airport experience.
If you have any special requests, such as children’s meals or dietary requirements, passengers can arrange them with Aer Lingus at least 48 hours before your flight to ensure everything is in place.
The airline also recommends to be comfortable and look after yourself when flying in winter by staying hydrated, dressing in layers, and letting staff know if you’re feeling unwell.
You can even bring an empty water bottle to fill up at the airport’s free drinking stations.
Finally, Aer Lingus advises passengers to arrive at the airport on time — two hours before European flights and three hours for transatlantic trips.
This way, you can relax, grab a snack, or even do a bit of shopping before your flight.
This comes after Dublin Airport issued a major Christmas warning to passengers ahead of the festive season.
AIRPORT CHRISTMAS WARNING
So far this year, Dublin Airport has already handled 28.7million passengers, with a 5 per cent increase compared to 2023.
Despite this growth, a passenger cap of 32 million has become a major issue – with Dublin Airport needing to limit its capacity to comply with regulations.
Passenger numbers are expected to exceed 32 million by December, with forecasts predicting a final count closer to 33 million for the year.
And the airport is now advising passengers to pre-book parking spaces ahead of Christmas.
The airport is now working on plans to increase capacity, including a proposal to raise the cap to 40 million passengers and an operational plan to reach 36 million without new infrastructure.

The weather advisory began today and will remain in place until midnight Tuesday, while the yellow wind and rain warning is in place from 10pm Friday night until 12 noon Saturday.
Met Eireann said Storm Bert will displace the recent Arctic airmass that saw temperatures plummet to -4C this week and a nationwide ice and low temperature warning.

7 things to do NOW before cold weather hits
WINTER is just around the corner - and with it comes colder temperatures, rain, ice and a risk of snow.
Households across the country should make sure they are prepared ahead of the temperature drop to assure the season goes by safely and stress free.
Here’s seven things you can do NOW to prepare before the cold weather hits.
1: Make sure your vehicle is winter ready. Check that your lights and indicators are working, your tyres are in good condition, your oil is topped up and your windscreen wipers are moving smoothly. It’s also worth keeping fuel in your tank to avoid ice in the tank and fuel lines.
2: Check for leaking pipes and insulate exposed pipes that are at risk of freezing. Wrapping a towel around a pipe is a simple way of protecting it from colder temperatures. It’s also a good idea to get your boiler serviced ahead of winter.
3: Be sure to have a small supply of non-perishable, easy to prepare foods as well as medicine and fuel in case it becomes difficult to leave your home for a period of time.
4: Prepare for power cuts by having batteries for torches and some alternative light sources in your home. It’s also worth having portable chargers ready in case you need to charge your devices.
5: Check all air vents around the home to make sure they are not blocked. It’s important that your home remains well ventilated even as it becomes colder.
6: Check your chimney and make sure it is clear. Visit www.dublincity.ie for expert guidance from Dublin Fire Brigade about how to avoid chimney fires.
7: Check your gutters and carry out any maintenance needed. This is essential to prevent gutter and roof damage in freezing temperatures.
And the freeze won’t ease just yet, with the status yellow low temperature/ice warning for the entire country to remain in place until 12 noon Friday.
Met Eireann said: “Very cold with widespread frost, icy stretches and lying snow persisting today, tonight and tomorrow.”
