Man Utd chiefs locked in blame game over expensive shambles that saw Ten Hag get new deal before being sacked
OLD TRAFFORD chiefs are locked in a blame game over who was responsible for their summer shambles.
Manchester United have become a laughing stock over their treatment of former boss Erik ten Hag.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and David Brailsford have faced criticism for their flip-flopping decisions[/caption] Erik ten Hag was brutally sacked just months after being handed a contract extension[/caption]The club’s recruitment strategy has also faced scrutiny following another summer splurge of nearly £180million.
Red Devils co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co were set to get rid of Ten Hag after the FA Cup final.
They ended up extending his contract and employing a new coaching team around him following their Wembley win over City.
But the Dutchman was axed after just nine Prem games this season with United languishing down in 14th in the table.
The former Ajax chief’s staff were also dismissed — all with sizeable pay-offs.
It cost around £15m to sack Ten Hag alone, while they had to shell out another £10m to bring Portuguese Ruben Amorim in from Sporting Lisbon, including an extra fee so that he could cut short his notice period.

It has been a bumpy start for Ratcliffe, who bought a 27.7 per cent stake in United in February and was charged with running the football side of the club.

The British billionaire, 72, appointed a new senior management team, including Sir Dave Brailsford, Omar Berrada, Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox.
But so far, the jury is out on their summer transfer deals.
The likes of forward Joshua Zirkzee, at £36.5m, and £38.5m centre-back Matthijs de Ligt have struggled to find their feet.
Now, tough questions are being asked internally about who bears the most responsibility for what went wrong with their planned squad revamp.

THIS is the shocking moment a police officer smashes his van into a parked car while eating behind the wheel.
PC Adejuwon Adebiyi was tucking into his lunch while driving a Ford Transit van on duty before crashing into a white BMW.
CCTV footage shows PC Adejuwon Adebiyi driving through the narrow street[/caption] As he eats his lunch he smashes into a parked white BMW[/caption]Alarming CCTV footage, captured on March 17 earlier this year, shows him lose control and barrel into the parked motor.
The brazen officer then flees the narrow residential street, after causing “extensive damage” at around 1.33pm.
He even tried to lie to his manager and a traffic sergeant the following day, claiming there was no crash.
But a Forensic Collision Investigation report concluded PC Adebiyi’s meal was a “sufficient distraction” and there had been “sufficient room” for him to have driven safely.
“Whilst the BMW was protruding from the parking bay, there was sufficient room for the van to pass,” stated the report.
“CCTV footage from the van showed PC Adebiyi was eating from a box on the front passenger seat. This appears to have been a sufficient distraction for PC Adebiyi.”
In a misconduct report, Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor wrote it was “unlikely” the PC had no idea he’d smashed up two vehicles.
He added: “This matter extends beyond the collision itself, to the continued actions in continuing to deny the incident and effectively attempting to cover it up.”
Adebeyi later admitted driving without due care and attention, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report it.
He was dismissed without notice and barred from policing for gross misconduct.
AC Taylor added: “I do of course understand his remorse and am grateful for his acknowledgement of the impact of this matter.
“However, the gravity of PC Adebiyi’s behaviour means that I do not consider that any sanction less than dismissal without notice is justified.”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “On Sunday, 17 March 2024, he was driving a marked police van.
“Whilst driving he was also eating food which was placed on the empty passenger seat next to him.
“At approximately 1.33pm he collided with a member of public’s stationary vehicle causing extensive damage to both the police vehicle and the parked car.
“On Monday, 18 March 2024, he denied having been involved in a collision to the traffic sergeant and his line manager.
“On Monday, 2 September 2024, he attended Stratford Magistrates’ Court and he pleaded Guilty to Driving Without Due Care and Attention.”
“The Chair found that PC Adebiyi had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Discreditable Conduct, Honesty and Integrity, and Duties and Responsibilities, and that these breaches amounted to Gross Misconduct,” they added.
It comes as other shocking moments have been caught on camera that left viewers gobsmacked.
This it the terrifying moment a hammer-wielding maniac goes on a rampage through the street as kids flee.
Meanwhile, the chilling moment machete carrying thugs attacked a man in the back of a taxi before the terrified driver raced away was also captured on CCTV.
Elsewhere, people were horrified to watch the “disgusting” moment a McDonald’s worker soaked a homeless man with mop water and kicked his sleeping bag.

The Welshman is hoping to set a record and become the first person to scale the world’s tallest peak whilst kitted out in the full firefighting clobber.
His challenge, called Project Fire, will raise money for Mind, The Fire Fighters charity and the Nimsdai Foundation.
The foundation works to protect the mountain communities in Nepal.
Rhys said: “After certain calls if things are getting a bit too much, I’ve always gone up to the mountains.
“I’ve used that as a way to decompress, refresh and escape from everything.
“One of the hardest things about being a firefighter is not being able to switch off
“No matter what time of day or whatever situation, you need to be able to switch on straight away and give every call 100 per cent.”
