I owed the SFA £32,000 after they kept doubling my fine – I’ve still NOT paid it 20 years later

CRAIG LEVEIN has claimed he was managed to get off with a £32,000 fine from the SFA and to this day still HASN’T paid it.

The 60-year-old has had plenty of run-ins with officials during his managerial career, which stretches almost 30 years.

Craig Levein revealed how he managed to dodge not one but two hefty SFA fines[/caption]

During his time as boss of Hearts, Levein was slapped with a £1,000 fine by Hampden chiefs for comments made about referee Dougie McDonald following a match against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in May 2004.

The Jambos lost 1-0 and Levein, who saw two of his players sent off, said: “I lost count of the mistakes when it reached 97.”

SFA bosses didn’t take kindly to Levein’s allusions and expected him to pay up within the two week deadline.

Two weeks passed and he didn’t pay, so the fine was doubled.

And doubled again. And again. And again.

Levein clearly had no intention of paying the bill and the matter even ended up involving the courts.

The SFA also didn’t back down but as the case rumbled on into the second half of 2004, Levein’s growing reputation as a manager caught the eye of one of his former clubs, Leicester City.

They lured him to the Midlands from Edinburgh and as far as Levein is concerned, that was that when it came to his bill.

He told Open Goal: “It started off with two grand, then a double, four, eight, 16, 32.

“Then I f***** off to Leicester and didn’t pay it!”

That wasn’t the only fine Levein managed to avoid paying.

And that one relates to him becoming manager of Scotland.

Levein was in charge of Dundee United when the opportunity to manage Scotland came up.

George Burley had been sacked on the back of a poor qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup and Levein was one of the prime candidates for the role.

Levein made United top-six regulars in his tenure and his side also reached the League Cup final in 2008, losing to Rangers on penalties.

Whilst at Tannadice, Levein was slapped with a £5,000 fine by the SFA after accusing referee Mike McCurry of bias following a match against Rangers.

That occurred in August 2008 but a little more than a year later, he found himself escaping a similar fine involving referees.

And it gave him a huge hint as to his prospects of becoming the next Scotland boss.

In December 2009, Levein was under consideration for the post but hewas hit with a charge around the same time for using foul and abusive language towards an official.

Levein recalled how he rocked up to his disciplinary hearing ready to admit his sins.

But much to his bewilderment, he was LET OFF scot-free.

Levein said: “I knew I was going to get the job, you know that?

“I was up for two foul and abusive language charges against referees. Two weeks in a row, I got summoned to go through to Hampden to get my hearing.

“I was bang to rights. And I got off with it!

“And then, two days later, I got offered the Scotland job.

“I couldn’t f believe it.

“I went in there saying, ‘Aye, it was me, I’d done it’, and the rest of it. And they let me off.

“I couldn’t believe it because I’d been up to a 32 grand fine at one point.”

I was a millionaire by age 12 & paid my parents’ annual salary – I even gave my big sister an allowance

MOST young girls can only dream of being an actor on their favourite TV channels, but it was a reality for Keke Palmer.

Now 31, Keke reveals all about working in Hollywood as a teenage girl and how she became a millionaire at just 12 years old.

Speaking on the Club Shay Sahy podcast, Keke, who got her first acting role at 11 reveals why she has no regrets about sharing her salary with her family.

She revealed that at one point she was being paid £31,000 ($40,000) shooting just one episode of the Nickelodeon show True Jackson VP – the same as her parents’ yearly salary.

“My parents, at their best, made $40,000 a year growing up a year, I was making that a show,” she said.

Keke revealed that her parents gave her an allowance using her salary, as well as her big sister.

While there have been many debates on who should handle working children’s salaries – Keke has no qualms with how her money was divided among the family.

The actor continued: “We’re family, and everybody sacrificed for me to be where I’m at.

“My dad gave up his pension, he had worked at the company he worked at for over 15 years.

“Gave up his pension for me to have the opportunity for my dreams.

“My mother, they gave up everything. She gave up everything so she could travel with me.

“So how I feel about it is what’s mine is theirs. What’s theirs is mine.”

Keke also detailed how at an early age it was up to her to provide for the family – something she was fully aware of even as a child.

She said: “It’s just one of those things where I feel like I could be sad, but why?

“Look what I gained. I gained so much more than what I sacrificed.”

The podcast clip shared on TikTok (@clubshayshaypod) went viral with over 4.9 million views and 839k likes.

That’s the first major news of the day, with the Hoops announcing the signing coup just hours before their annual AGM.

They wrote on social media: “We are delighted to announce that Alistair Johnston has agreed a new contract with the club which will run until the summer of 2029! Well deserved, AJ”

Johnston said: “I am just delighted to extend my contract with Celtic. I got a brilliant welcome to the club in 2022 and ever since I have had the best of times, loving every minute as part of such a great institution and I wanted to continue to be part of that.

“It’s an absolute honour to pull that famous jersey on every week and to have achieved so much success with my team-mates already has been so satisfying. But of course, we want more and that is our focus.

“It is a real delight to be working day in, day out in such a great set-up, working with the gaffer and the staff who have such ambition for success and with such a great group of lads in the team.

“Of course my team-mates have been everything to me – it is a brilliant dressing room I am privileged to be part of, with real quality guys beside me and I know we are all, collectively looking to work as hard as we can to bring our fans even more success over the next few years.”

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers said: “It is fantastic news for the club and our fans that Ali has agreed this new contract.

“In a relatively short period of time he has established himself as a fantastic player for Celtic, showing real quality and just delivering performance after performance for us, week in, week out.

“He has a phenomenal work ethic and attitude, brilliant hunger and positivity, such an honest love for the game and a real desire to improve in everything he does.

“These are the qualities which make a great player and he has certainly been that for Celtic.

“Everyone at the club felt it crucial that we extend Ali’s contract with Celtic and I am delighted that we have been able to do this.”

I used my savings to start a hair care brand, my side hustle made me a multi-millionaire in two years

A WELLNESS enthusiast who would make natural hair care products at home has shared how her side hustle became a multi-million-pound business.

Janell Stephens was saving as much money as possible while learning about holistic health as a licensed therapist and wellness coach before launching Camille Rose.

Janell, pictured, said she would struggle to find products suitable to use on her kids’ hair before launching her brand Camille Rose
Janell Stephens

Janell worked on the haircare brand for around two years before it became profitable.

“I started Camille Rose with my own savings as a side hustle, balancing it with my work and family,” she told The Sun.

“Late nights and weekends became my time to research, test, and hand-package products.

“The demand grew, and while managing everything was challenging, my passion and determination made it all worthwhile.

“In those early days, I was reinvesting everything back into the business – testing products, improving packaging, and scaling up production to meet growing demand.

“Patience and persistence were key.”

Janell became obsessed with launching the brand after becoming frustrated by the lack of “clean, effective” products on the market.

She would struggle to find any that were suitable for her children who had skin sensitivities and eczema.

“I sought every remedy under the sun,” she said. “However, a lot of them contained steroids which I was not comfortable putting on my children.

“I sought out natural solutions and worked with a herbalist.  I would create skincare in my kitchen.

“This was my first experience in understanding the scalp as I would gently rub homemade creams on my children’s heads to get rid of dry patches.

“Their hair glistened. I spent so much time up to my elbows in butters and oils and other natural goodies that my skin glowed and I moved to hair care.”

Janell said her friends and family would comment on her hair and skin after mixing ingredients like shea butter and coconut oil.

They gave her the nickname “Master Mixtress” while inspiring her to turn her passion for natural products into a business.

The brand now has several products that target specific needs including hair growth.

“For clarifying, I recommend our Sweet Ginger Rinse, £9.99 from Boots UK,  which is infused with ginger and lemon juice,” she said.

“Ginger and lemon are acidic which help cleanse the scalp.  Ginger helps improve scalp circulation while also stimulating each hair follicle, which in turn promotes longer, stronger hair.

“Ginger helps strengthen your hair due to its many vitamins, minerals and fatty acids.

“Last year Camille Rose launched an entire collection of Rosemary items to strengthen hair.  Strong hair prevents breakage and gives great length retention giving the appearance of hair growth.

“The collection includes Rosemary Oil Hair + Scalp Cleanser, £13.99,  Hair Mask £13.99,  Leave-in Conditioner £12.99,  and Hair Oil £12.99.

“Rosemary has almost a cult-like following when it comes to helping promote hair growth.  Much of the credit goes to carnosic acid, a phenolic chemical compound in the plant.

“Carnosic acid helps stimulate the scalp by increasing blood circulation.

The five best DIY hair hacks

One beauty expert has shared the easy way to refresh your hair in between washes without reaching for the dry shampoo.

A hairstylist has revealed the best way to get rid of flyaways in seconds for picture-perfect hair.

Sick of you hair falling flat? One woman shared the easy trick to add extra volume without backcombing your roots.

Plus, one hairstylist shared how to keep your hair straight and frizz-free without using any heat.

For blondies among us, it turns out you’ve been applying purple shampoo all wrong and the right way will stop it from going patchy.

“One of my favourite scalp and hair serums is Camille Rose’s Rejuva Drops, £16.99,  which are infused with castor oil, peppermint oil and saw palmetto which nourish the hair while slowing the ageing process by blocking DHT.

“It rejuvenates, stimulates, and strengthens the hair follicle.”

Janell said managing stress and eating healthy are just as important as topical products for haircare.

She also swears by protective styles but warns braids shouldn’t be too tight as this can “break hair at the scalp.”

She said her brand “Camille Rose has grown significantly” since she launched it in 2012.

“While I can’t disclose exact figures, I’m incredibly proud to say that it’s now a multi-million-dollar brand with a strong presence in major retailers nationwide and internationally,” she said.

“Seeing the impact and growth of our products has been truly rewarding.

“Every product we create is made with care and with our customers in mind. My mission has always been to help people embrace their natural beauty and feel confident in who they are.

“I’m so grateful for the support of our community and the opportunity to continue innovating and delivering products that make a real difference in people’s lives.”

My mum gave my adult boyfriend permission to marry me at 14 – then my second husband tried to traffic me out for sex

AN ex-Mormon shared some of the traumatic events she says she endured while in the community.

The unnamed woman recalled how she was married off from a young age and the strange requests her second husband made in the bedroom.

Speaking on the We’re All Insane podcast, the mum-of-five discussed her time in the religion and the abuse she suffered at the hand’s of her second husband.

She revealed that she got married to her first husband two days before her 16th birthday.

The pair had first met and began dating when she was 13 and he was 16.

She explained how her mum gave her approval for their nuptials two years prior when she was just 14-years-old.

“He had already proposed to me by the time I was 14, he actually did it right in front of [my mum],” she said.

“My mum pulls me aside and she says: ‘You know, you’ve been dating your boyfriend for about a year and a half, I think you can go ahead and get married.'”

The woman revealed that her boyfriend was already a legal adult at 18 when he first popped the question to her.

“[My mum] said: ‘It’s normal in our religion so I think it’s safe for you guys to go ahead and get married.’”

She described how she felt abandoned by her mother in this moment.

“At this point I’m just [thinking] ‘Wow, OK, I guess you’re done raising me, I guess you’re done being my mum,'” she said.

“You haven’t really been there the past two years anyway.”

The woman became pregnant with her first child at the age of 17, and described how it gave her a “reason to live.”

She said her husband had become physically abusive and was “very addicted to porn.”

“He would beat me and rape me, he just got off on that kind of stuff,” she said.

She had her daughter when she turned 19 and said that her children gave her the courage to seek help.

When her own dad reached out to see if she was OK, he helped her to fix her car and she packed it up and left.

After her first marriage ended, the then 20-year-old grew close to her brother’s friend.

She described him as the father her children never had and her personal “saviour.”

They got married when she was 23 but had a turbulent relationship, including infidelity on his part.

She described how her second husband would blame everything on her first partner for the 20 years they were together.

During a separation period, she said a family member of her husband reached out to let her know about an inappropriate relationship he’d had with a minor.

“He came back into the house and I’m scared at this point, I’m terrified of him because I don’t know who this person is,” she said.

“I was following along this is what I do when I’m scared, I freeze and I fawn.

He wanted me to start performing like I was eight-years-old during some of these fantasies.

Survivor of abusive marriage

“I just realised: ‘Who the f**k I’m married to? Have I just been a body this entire time?'”

The woman, who now shared three kids with her second husband, recalled some of his weirder fetishes in the bedroom.

“He had admitted to me that he was attracted to under age kids, to minors,” she explained.

“He wanted me to start performing like I was eight-years-old during some of these fantasies.”

It was at this point that her husband started having her listen to podcasts about “hot wifing.”

“You send your wife out and she takes videos of [her] being with other men,” she explained.

“He was posting new pictures of me. He put up cameras in all the rooms, including our bedroom.

“He would want me to perform for him while he was at work.”

She said that her years of PTSD meant she would do whatever it took to survive.

I felt like I had to do it if I wanted to feel loved.

Survivor of abusive marriage

“If you cannot survive through your lived experience, you completely disassociate from what you’re living,” she said.

“You become whatever your perpetrator needs or wants you to become.

“I felt like I had to do it if I wanted to feel loved.”

Eventually, her husband took it one step further, suggesting her “worth would be found” by men wanting her.

“He started putting in my head that it would be a great idea to start trying to meet up with other men,” she said.

“That’s when I talked to my therapist and she asked: ‘Are you sure he’s not trying to sex traffic you?’”

After an initial period of denial, she said that her husband began to float the idea of making money off her meet-ups with other men.

“I got online and [searched] ‘sex trafficking wife’ and I watched a video and [thought] ‘Holy s**t, I don’t want it to get that bad,'” she recalled.

The woman credited her therapist with helping her leave the “toxic” marriage, explaining that she put her in touch with a women’s shelter.

“I took half of our money from the bank, I grabbed clothes, I packed up my kids, and I [said] ‘We’re leaving,'” she said.

Holby City star quits acting entirely as she announces retirement after ‘really tough’ time since BBC show’s axe

A HOLBY City actress has confirmed she has quit acting for good after a “really tough” time finding employment since the BBC show’s axe.

The hit medical drama was binned off by the Beeb in 2022 and for one of its stars, she has been unable to find acting success anywhere else leading to a shocking decision.

She played Jac on the show but has now been left with a “complete lack of money” amid a career turmoil[/caption]

Rosie Marcel, 47, played Jac Naylor in the programme but she was killed off in the final ever episode when her character died of a brain tumour.

In a candid confession, Rosie admitted she failed to bag any other acting jobs following the axing which led her to quit showbusiness for good.

In a new interview with Metro, Rosie opened up on her struggles and also suggested that both her age and gender had played a part in her not being offered any acting work.

The former actress told the publication: “I won’t lie, it’s been a really tough three and a half years.

“I haven’t had a single job and that’s been really, really difficult. A lot of that is, I would imagine, people can’t see beyond Jac.

“I think a lot of it is because of my age, I think it’s my gender.”

Rosie went on to detail the intense amount she has been faced with over the past few years which led her to officially retire from acting forever.

Confessing losing her role on Holby City had left her with a “complete lack of money“, she also revealed how her husband’s gym had burned down and how she had found herself caught up in two very scary incidents.

Rosie added to the publication: “I decided to retire. So I actually retired in May.

“In all honesty so much changed in our lives in that time – my husband’s gym burned down, obviously I lost my job, Ben nearly died, I lost a couple of babies, I got caught in a terrible accident on the A41, another accident with a guy who’d been stabbed by his son.

“Just this crazy three years of stuff happened.

“And no money, complete lack of money. Going from a life of having really good money to having almost nothing and Ben supporting us on what he earned, which was not really enough unfortunately, because we lost one of our gyms.

“Not getting any work as well, and getting to the last two for certain things, which was lovely and everything, but the reality of going up for a Netflix job and knowing I was up against 6,000 other people really forced my hand in some ways.”

Furthermore, she even revealed how she had been rejected for reality TV roles after going up for a show earlier this year.

BBC
Rosie has been rejected from both acting and reality TV roles[/caption]

Rosie admitted she was left more hurt by losing out on that gig than any acting roles as the rejection was based on her as a person rather than her talent.

She said: “Back in May I’d been up for a particular job. It was a reality TV thing, I shan’t mention names.

“That’s based on you, that’s based on ‘Do we feel that you would do well doing this?’ and whatever.

“When it came back that I didn’t get it, I was like wow, that’s directly about me as a person.

“Although nothing bad was said, it was just like ‘Not this year’ and whatever, I went, ‘You know what, I don’t want to do this to myself any more. It hurts, it doesn’t make me feel good any more, I don’t know that I want to do it any more.’

“I think when something is taking more than it’s giving, it’s time to make a change.”

To launch the classes, radio star Fearne was joined by celebrity pals including Love Island favourite Georgia Harrison.

The 29-year-old reality star, who has been open about her spiritual journey, slipped into a pair of black skintight leggings and a crop top for a group yoga session.

While mum-of-two Millie, 35, wore a white long sleeve gym top and a pair of leopard print leggings for the workout.

Yoga is which is know for helping the mind and body build strength and flexibility.

The forty-minute classes include yoga, sound baths, breathwork and laughing yoga, set amongst immersive backdrops of grassy plains, mountainous valleys and glistening streams.

Other famous faces included Dame Kelly Holmes, Made In Chelsea‘s Millie Mackintosh, musician Beverley Knight.

Millie, who’s been open about managing her mental health, practiced the yoga’s warrior pose, alongside Beverley who soaked up the multi-sensory escapism and enjoyed a break from hustle bustle of city life.

Pop star Tallia Storm, Olympian Jennifer Stoute and EastEnders actor Jonny Labey also attended the zen experience.

Throughout November, the public are invited to join these multi-
sensory experiences – with tickets still available for November 24.

Speaking at the event earlier this month, Fearne said, “The wellness practices I’ve led the class through today have helped me in so many ways over the years, putting me in a good space during my career to record my podcast at times when I have felt anxious or low.

“Having my pals here today for the launch made it even more special.”

She continued: “I’m so passionate about helping create spaces for self-love and creativity and this experience is going to be completely unique, combining two of my favourite things, wellness and art.

“These new fully immersive classes will be a completely unique experience and combined with spending some time in the incredible FRAMELESS galleries, a real opportunity to take sometime for yourself this autumn and hopefully leaving everyone feeling relaxed, re-energised and happy.”

While British athlete Dame Holmes, famed for winning two Gold medals at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, said yoga has allowed her to step back and reflect.

She shared: “The immersive experience is fantastic. The calmness, the visuals, bringing people together in this space is powerful. When I was an athlete, it was all very hard and fast, but you also have to use your mental side, and yoga is great for that.

“I think if I was in my career now, I would use yoga techniques a lot more than I did!”

Songstress Beverley added: “It was fantastic to practice yoga this morning and explore so many different techniques, from poses to breathwork, which is crucial in preparing for my music and
stage career.”

Tickets cost £45 and includes one 40-minute Happy Place immersive wellness class along with access to the full FRAMELESS immersive art experience, including the galleries, Café Bar and Gift Shop.

Before and after the yoga classes, participants can explore four permanent multi-sensory galleries featuring 42 masterpieces from iconic artists from Van Gogh to Dalí, reimagined through
cutting-edge digital technology.

Find out more and book tickets for upcoming wellness classes on November 24th here.

Benefits of yoga

Research shows that just six 20- to 30-minute stretching sessions and 10 minutes of meditation over a two-week period can increase heart rate variability (HRV) enough to gain the following key benefits:

  • 15% improved sleep quality
  • 39% increase in positive feelings relating to confidence
  • 39% decrease in feelings of sadness and negativity
  • 29% increase in motivation
  • 26% decrease in negative emotions; anxiety and tension
  • 18% increase in satisfaction with daily life

Lead Researcher, Dr Jinger Gottschall, said that compared with the control group, those who did the evening yoga reported considerable changes across every variable – improved HRV, sleep quality, confidence, motivation, and reduced anxiety, tension, and sadness.

She added that the significance of doing the session in the evening is that it works by naturally creating a deep sense of calm at the end of the day, which leads to quality sleep and a more positive outlook in the future.

HRV is where the time between your heartbeats fluctuates slightly.

Everyone is different, but studies show that healthy adults in their 20s tend to have HRV of between 55 to 105, and for those in their 60s it is 25 to 45.

The more variability we have between beats, the better.

The higher the HRV, the more likely we are able to shift from being stressed to being relaxed, meaning we’re better equipped to cope with the pressures of daily life.

Studies show low HRV is correlated with anxiety and increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

HRV can be improved by taking care of your body and mind. This could be through regular exercise, healthy eating, lowering stress levels and getting enough sleep.
