JOCKEY Adam Wedge and trainer Evan Williams have been banned and fined respectively for schooling and conditioning a horse on the racecourse.
Wedge was slapped with a 14-day ban and his boss, the Wales-based Williams was given a £3,000 fine after a stewards’ inquiry.
The horse, Klic Boum, finished seventh in a 2 mile maiden hurdle at Warwick for which he was 250-1 for.
The four-year-old, who cost £11,000 at Goffs last year, has been beaten a combined total of 104 lengths in his three previous hurdle starts.
At Warwick on Thursday the horse made a promising start to the race but by the fourth hurdle was already flagging.
In the home straight Wedge, who has multiple Cheltenham Festival wins under his belt including a Stayers Hurdle for Williams on Lisnagar Oscar, was deemed to handle his mount too tenderly.
A report read: “An inquiry was held into the running and riding of Klic Boum, ridden by Adam Wedge and trained by Evan Williams, which was held up towards the rear of the field, before being asked for an effort from after the fourth-last hurdle and then ridden under apparent tender handling in the home straight to finish seventh, beaten 36 lengths.”
The jockey went on to say: “his instructions had been to drop Klic Boum in towards the rear of the field with the intention of getting the gelding to finish its race strongly.”

When questioned on his inactivity in the final straight, Wedge told the stewards it was down to the gelding hanging.
Williams was not at the races, but his representative claimed he was unaware of any instructions the trainer had given Wedge over the phone that morning.
The report went on: “He [Wedge] reported that the focus was on getting the horse to finish its race strongly but having gone through the gelding’s previous runs with the rider, there appeared to be little difference in the tactics and/or riding of Klic Boum, who despite already running the required three times over hurdles as stated in paragraph 13 of the ‘Weights and Handicapping Code’, had not been allocated a handicap mark.”
Klic Boum was suspended from running in any race for 40 days and Williams was fined £290 for failing to inform his representative of the rider’s instructions.
Punters took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react.

ASHLEY Cain is getting ready to become a father for the third time.

Reality star Ashley Cain has shared his joy about becoming a father for a third time.
The former footy ace lost his first child Azaylia – whom he shared with ex Safiyya Vorajee – in April 2021.
He has since welcomed a son called Aliyas Diamond on January 16, 2024, and now he has another one on the way.
Announcing the news in a heartfelt Instagram post, Ashley wrote: “My little girl will soon have another little brother to watch over, and my little boy will not only be a baby brother but a big brother too.
“With all the heartache I’ve been through, I’m truly grateful that I can really start counting my blessings again!
It’s not known when his second son will be born.
But fans think they have worked out the due date after spotting a clue on his Instagram post.
Several people in the comments are saying that they zoomed in and could see that the scan was done in June 2024.
This means it will likely be born around six months after the date of the scan.
Ashley has kept quiet about whether he is in a relationship with the mother of his third child.
As of November 2024, it is understood that he is single.
His last long term relationship was with Azaylia’s mother, Safiyya.
Ashley has never revealed the identity of Aliyas’ mother and it’s unclear if his unborn child has the same mum.
When his first son was born, he confirmed that he was not in a relationship with his mother, but said that she was a “close friend”
Speaking about her, Ashley told The Sun: “I got a call from a girl I was seeing who I have known since I was 18.
“We are friends and have met up on and off over the years.
“She is a really nice person and good to be around. I got a message saying that she needed to speak to me so I went to see her and she told me she was pregnant — I can’t put into words how that felt.
“The thought of potentially having another child after losing one was very difficult to understand for me.”
Ashley dated Safiyya Vorajee from around 2018 until 2022.
She is a qualified dental nurse and aesthetic practitioner who owns her own cosmetics business called Mz Pretty.
Safiyya and Ashley confirmed their split in March 2022, just a year after the heartbreaking death of their daughter Azaylia.
A source told The Sun at the time: “No one knows how something so tragic can affect a couple, and it’s been incredibly painful for them to make this decision.
“They will always love and support each other, and still live together, but the romantic side of their relationship has come to an end.”
Safiyya and Ashley then confirmed they had ended their relationship a few months prior, saying in a joint statement that they would “love, care and support each other forever.”
Ashley has spoken about the moment he had to tell Safiyya about his new baby.
He said: “It was painful for Safiyya but it was also painful for me as well to talk to Saffiya.
“Safiyya and I haven’t been together for a while now and it is inevitable that at some stage people are going to move on with their lives — that doesn’t mean that we can’t be friends and have an amazing relationship.”
He added: “I know Safiyya will always support me and I will always be there to support Safiyya.
“It wasn’t an easy conversation or filled with smiles but it was a conversation that had a lot of truth and respect.”
Safiyya and Ashley’s daughter Azaylia Diamond was born in August 2020.
She was tragically diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia when she was just two months old.
After months of sharing their baby’s heartbreaking health journey online, Ashley and Safiyya announced on April 25, 2021, that Azaylia had passed away.

CONOR McGregor’s partner Dee Devlin is sitting alongside the MMA fighter in court this morning as a jury resume deliberations in his rape case.
McGregor’s father Tony, mother Margaret and sister Aoife are also at the High Court awaiting the verdict.
Mr Justice Alex Owens yesterday completed his two-day charge to the jury of eight women and four men.
The panel continued their deliberations this morning after sitting through eight days of evidence.
Nikita Hand, 35, has accused mixed martial arts fighter McGregor of a brutal rape after a Christmas night out.
The former hair colourist is seeking civil damages against the 36-year-old sports star over the alleged rape at a Dublin hotel penthouse in December 2018.
McGregor, who took the stand to claim he had consensual sex with Ms Hand, denies all allegations, as does co-defendant James Lawrence.
The jury in the High Court trial was sent out for deliberation at 3pm on Thursday following final remarks from the judge.
Mr Justice Owens told jurors that the onus of proof is on the plaintiff – and the standard of proof is on balance of probabilities.
The judge urged the jury: “Look at all the evidence.”
Judge Owens told jurors if they find that McGregor assaulted Ms Hand, they will have the option of awarding aggravated and punitive damages, as well as a general award of compensation.
After deliberating for around one hour on Thursday, the jury were sent home for the night at 4pm.
The judge had cautioned the jury not to discuss their deliberations with anyone last night, including any loved ones who must be “madly interested in all of this”.
The jury resume their deliberations just after 10am today.
The jury of eight women and four men has been given an issue paper, with a number of questions.
Question one asks: “Did Conor McGregor assault Nikita Hand?”
The judge said they answer no to this question, then that is the end of the case against Mr McGregor.
But if they answer yes, they will then go on to consider damages.
Ms Hand has sued both Mr McGregor and Mr Lawrence, alleging the pair “brutally raped and battered” her in a hotel penthouse six years ago.
The mum-of-one, from Drimnagh in Dublin, has claimed they both raped her in the Beacon Hotel, Dublin, on December 9, 2018, during a cocaine and alcohol-fuelled afterparty.
Both have denied her allegation, and claimed the sex was consensual.
Before the jury were sent out to begin considering its decision, Justice Owens yesterday finished summarising Mr McGregor’s evidence.
Mr McGregor described Ms Hand’s allegation that he raped her as “lies”.
He added: “She performed oral sex on me. We began to take our clothes off. We were both naked in the bedroom and we moved to the bed.
“We began engaging in fully consensual sex. It began in the missionary position.”
McGregor told the court the sex was “enthusiastic and athletic”.
The cage fighter was shown photos of bruises on the complainant’s body taken in the days after the alleged assault.
Under cross-examination by Ms Hand’s barrister John Gordon, Mr McGregor denied causing the bruises, saying they “possibly came from her diving into the bath”.
But Mr Gordon drew the jury’s attention to the medical evidence about the severity of Ms Hand’s bruises.
And Ms Hand’s barrister highlighted how a tampon had to be removed from her using forceps in hospital when she attended after the alleged rape.
Ms Hand gave evidence alleging Mr McGregor raped her in the hotel room while she was on her period and using a tampon.
The jury heard evidence that a tampon worn by the plaintiff on the night had to be removed by a doctor using forceps.
Mr Gordon said it was “obvious” that, as the case approached, Mr McGregor “thought the tampon was going to be a problem” and this was why, in evidence, he claimed that there had been no tampon present in Ms Hand.
Mr Gordon said that Mr McGregor’s and Mr Lawrence’s claim that there was no tampon was never put to Ms Hand in court because Mr McGregor did not say this to his legal team.
Mr Gordon said: “It was a whole new version of events. Rather him repeating that my client is a liar, the liar here is Mr McGregor who doesn’t have the courage or the decency to own up to what he did.
“He’s not a man, he’s a devious coward and you should treat him for what he is.”
And referring to bruising on Ms Hand’s body, Mr Gordon said: “Let’s put it this way: somebody did it. It happened in the Beacon Hotel. It was Mr McGregor.”
