Exact time ‘heavy’ snow showers to batter Scotland this weekend as danger to life warning issued
HEAVY snow showers are set to batter Scotland this weekend as a danger to life warning is issued.
A yellow rain and snow warning is set to cover most of the country.
Aberdeen in previous years has been covered in snow[/caption] The yellow weather warning could cause chaos on the roads[/caption]Heavy snow on Saturday, followed by a rapid thaw and subsequent rain on Saturday night may cause some disruption.
The Met Office has warned that the severe weather could cause power cuts and issues with mobile phone coverage.
And there is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.
Outbreaks of rain will spread across the country with temperatures in Glasgow hitting lows of 0C on Saturday.
In Inverness temperatures will fall to minus 4C while in Shetland it will be minus 4C.
The Met Office has also warned of a small chance of flooding.
This could in turn cause travel chaos with challenging conditions for trains, busses and cars.
Aberdeen Airport has already been hit with a few chilly starts and staff were called to clear snow from the runway.
It comes after multiple schools were closed this morning and commuters faced widespread travel disruption with heavy snowfall and ice affecting parts of the UK.
The Met Office has now issued a fresh update for the rest of today and tomorrow advising that vehicles could be stranded, power cuts may occur and rural areas could be cut off.
The forecaster has warned snow showers will affect areas in the north and west through Wednesday and overnight into tomorrow.
The showers will be frequent at times and may also be accompanied by hail.

FOR those tired of endlessly scrolling through Netflix in the attempt to find the perfect flick, these secret codes can transform your streaming experience.
The streaming giant categorizes its vast library into specific genres, and each are assigned a unique numerical code.
Netflix has a little-known hack for finding content from a specific genre[/caption]By using these codes, you can quickly narrow down your search and find the perfect show or film to watch.
To unlock these hidden categories, simply enter the following URL into your web browser:
http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/INSERTNUMBER
Replace INSERTNUMBER with the code for the genre you want to explore.
For example, entering 10118 will reveal all of Netflix’s superhero movies, while 45028 will unlock a selection of deep-sea horror films.
This trick works best on a desktop browser, so smartphone, tablet, or TV app users may need to switch devices to take advantage of it.
YouTuber Matty McTech, also known as SetupSpawn, recently demonstrated the hack in a video.
He explained: “Did you know that if you go to this website, netflix-codes.com, you can find a list of Netflix secret categories?
“Just watch…search for the code on Netflix and it will display all the shows and movies related to that code.”
The codes cover a wide range of genres, from 1192582 for binge-worthy British crime dramas to more niche categories like 75804 for cult horror classics or 67673 for Disney musicals.
To get you started we have listed collections of codes below, but the extensive list can be found in entirety here.

I’m A Celeb fans convinced campmate is ‘breaking rules’ after spotting big clue in camp
I’M A Celeb fans are convinced that a campmate is ‘breaking rules’ after they spotted a big clue in camp.
Tulisa of N-Dubz fame is one of the contestants on this year’s show, but viewers have questioned why she’s “allowed a full face of makeup.”
Viewers of the show questioned if Tulisa was wearing make up[/caption] Tulisa has quickly become a fan favourite on the ITV show[/caption]It’s well known that I’m A Celeb stars don’t have any luxuries in the jungle and, as a result, makeup is banned as they don’t have any of their home items.
But some have asked why Tulisa appears to be wearing makeup, as one penned: “I don’t understand how Tulisa has full make up on every day.”
A second wrote: “Tulisa looks like she’s got eye shadow on,” and a third questioned beneath a clip of the singer: “I thought they weren’t allowed makeup in the jungle.”
But it would appear that Tulisa actually has permanent makeup, as suggested by some I’m A Celeb fans.
One person wrote: “Guessing it’s permanent makeup.. and probs fake eye lashes,” a second penned: “It’s definitely permanent makeup.”
Tulisa took to Instagram ahead of leaving the UK to reveal that she’d tattooed makeup onto her face.
She said: “I tatted the lips to match the brows, couldn’t help myself!”
And fans have speculated that she also has a full set of lash extensions too.
As well as her permanent makeup, Tulisa also headed to the nail salon ahead of her I’m A Celeb jaunt.
She was spotted popping into Skylar Nails in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, for a couple of hours.
The 36-year-old scraped her hair back into a pony tail and walked briskly to the nail venue after a run, with headphones in.
She looked beautiful as she continued her jungle prep, and was also pictured pulling up a seat in Skylar Nails for a pre-camp treatment.
Since entering camp, Tulisa has opened up to her I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! campmates about her sexuality.
I'm A Celebrity 2024
i'm A Celebrity is back for its 24th series, with a batch of famous faces living in the Aussie jungle. The Sun's Jake Penkethman takes a look at the stars on the show this year..
Coleen Rooney – Arguably the most famous name in the camp, the leading WAG, known for her marriage to Wayne Rooney, has made a grand return to TV as she looks to put the Wagatha Christie scandal behind her. The Sun revealed the mum-of-four had bagged an eye-watering deal worth over £1.5million to be on the show this year making her the highest-paid contestant ever.
Tulisa – The popstar and former X Factor judge has made her triumphant TV comeback by signing up to this year’s I’m A Celeb after shunning TV shows for many years. Known for being a member of the trio, N-Dubz, Tulisa became a household name back in 2011 when she signed on to replace Cheryl on ITV show The X Factor in a multi-million pound deal.
Alan Halsall – The actor, known for playing the long-running role of Tyrone Dobbs on ITV soap opera Coronation Street, was originally signed up to head Down Under last year but an operation threw his scheduled appearance off-course. Now he has become the latest Corrie star to win over both the viewers and his fellow celebrities.
Melvin Odoom – The Radio DJ has become a regular face on TV screens after rising to fame with presenting roles on Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1 and 4Music. Melvin has already been for a spin on the Strictly dancefloor and co-hosted The Xtra Factor with Rochelle Humes in 2015 but now he is facing up to his biggest challenge yet – the Aussie jungle.
GK Barry – The UK’s biggest social media personality, GK, whose real name is Grace Keeling, has transformed her TikTok stardom into a lucrative career. Aside from her popular social media channels, she hosts the weekly podcast, Saving Grace, and regularly appears on ITV talk show, Loose Women. She has even gone on to endorse popular brands such as PrettyLittleThing, KFC and Ann Summers.
Dean McCullough – A rising star amongst this year’s bunch of celebs, Dean first achieved notability through his radio appearances on Gaydio and BBC Radio 1. He was chosen to join the BBC station permanently in 2021 and has featured prominently ever since. He has enjoyed a crossover to ITV over the past year thanks to his guest slots on Big Brother spin-off show, Late & Live.
Oti Mabuse – The pro dancer has signed up to her latest TV show after making her way through the biggest programmes on the box. She originally found fame on Strictly Come Dancing but has since branched out into the world of TV judging with appearances on former BBC show The Greatest Dancer as well as her current role on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.
Danny Jones – The McFly star was drafted into the programme last minute as a replacement for Tommy Fury. Danny is the second member of McFly to enter the jungle, after Dougie Poynter won the show in 2011. He is also considered a rising star on ITV as he’s now one of the mentors on their Saturday night talent show, The Voice, along with bandmate Tom Fletcher.
Jane Moore – The Loose Women star and The Sun columnist is braving the creepy crawlies this year. The star is ready for a new challenge – having recently split from her husband. It will be Jane’s first foray into reality TV with the telly favourite having always said no to reality shows in the past.
Barry McGuigan – Former pro boxer Barry is the latest fighting champ to head Down Under following in the footsteps of Tony Bellew and Amir Khan. It comes after a tough few years for Irish star Barry, who lost his daughter Danika to bowel cancer. He told The Late Late Show in 2021: “She was such an intrinsic part of the family that every day we ache.”
Maura Higgins – The Irish TV beauty first found fame on Love Island where she found a brief connection with dancer Curtis Pritchard. Since then, she has competed on Dancing On Ice as well as hosting the Irish version of the beauty contest, Glow Up. Since last year, she has been working on building up her career in the US by being the social media correspondent and host of Aftersun to accompany Love Island USA. She even guest hosted an episode of the spin-off, Love Island Games, in place of Maya Jama last year.
Rev. Richard Coles – Former BBC radio host the Rev Richard Coles is a late arrival on I’m A Celebrity, and he’s ready to spill the beans on his former employer. The former Communards and Strictly star, said the BBC did not know its a**e from its elbow last year. An insider said: “Rev Coles will have a variety of tales to tell from his wild days as a pop star in the Eighties, through to performing on Strictly and his later life as a man of the cloth.”
Lifting the lid during a candid chat among the celebs, Tulisa has confessed to being celibate for the last three years.
The N-Dubz star even said the thought of sleeping with someone she’s only just met makes her “feel physically sick”.
Tulisa told her campmates Dean McCullough and Alan Halsall that she identifies as ‘demisexual’.
Demisexuality is where a person only begins to find someone sexually attractive after forming a strong emotional bond with them first.
The chat began as Dean admitted he “enjoys” being single.
Fellow singleton Alan replied: “I’ve never done dating apps, I don’t even know what I’d do!”
Turning to Tulisa, Dean quipped: “We’ve done them all, haven’t we babes.”
But the musician told Dean she had only ever tried the private dating app for celebrities called Raya.
“I’m not really a dater,” Tulisa revealed. “Even though I’ve been on there, I’ve never gone on an actual date with anyone on there. I’m proper guarded.”
I’m A Celeb viewers said Tulisa had got permanent makeup before heading to Australia[/caption]‘Exercise due caution’ – Irish airport issues urgent travel warning before Met Eireann’s orange snow alert kicks in

First vid ‘shows long-range ATACMS missiles fired by Ukraine into Russia’ as Kyiv braces for huge Putin revenge strike
FOOTAGE appears to show Ukraine unleashing a US-supplied missile into Russia for the first time.
Kyiv blitzed a military depot on Russian turf just days after Joe Biden gave his blessing for far-reaching ATACMS rockets to be used.
Footage appears to show Ukraine launching an ATACMS rocket into Russia for the first time[/caption] The missile rapidly blasted into the air and left a thick trail of smoke[/caption] Ukraine use searchlights to spy drones in the sky over the city during a Russian drone strike[/caption]The outgoing president’s decision sparked fury in the Kremlin – with enraged Vladimir Putin drastically ramping down Moscow’s threshold for Russia’s use of nuclear weapons in retaliation.
Now footage has emerged that appears to show Ukraine launching an ATACMS missile from an undisclosed location.
The short clip – posted by a Telegram channel affiliated with the Ukrainian military – shows a huge plume of smoke trailing behind a flaming missile as it shoots high into the air.
Moscow was forced to admit yesterday on the 1,000th day of Vlad’s illegal war that a US-supplied missile had hit an ammo arsenal in Bryasnk.
Fragments of one of the damaged rockets landed on the “technical territory” of the military facility and sparked a fire, Russia’s defence ministry begrudgingly conceded.
Kyiv later confirmed that the warehouse they struck was storing North Korean ammunition and anti-aircraft missiles, via official Andriy Kovalenko on Telegram.
Moscow warned it would “react accordingly” if US-supplied weapons were used to strike Russian territory.
Now the US embassy in Kyiv has shut as Ukraine braces for a huge Russian revenge attack.
The US embassy said it has received “specific” intel about a “potential significant air attack”.
It said: “Out of an abundance of caution, the embassy will be closed, and embassy employees are being instructed to shelter in place.”
In an unusual warning, the embassy told US citizens to “be prepared to immediately shelter in the event an air alert is announced”.
The UK government is also watching the security situation for Brits in Kyiv “incredibly closely” – but the embassy in the capital remains open.
Putin has repeatedly warned that Moscow will respond to Ukraine’s strikes with US-made weapons deep into Russia.
In September, he said it would “mean that Nato countries are at war with Russia”.
And just days after the US approved Ukrainian use of its far-reaching rockets, Vlad signed a new doctrine to lower the bar for launching a nuclear strike.
But sources have today claimed Putin is ready to discuss a Ukraine ceasefire deal with Donald Trump.
Vlad is, however, understood to have a list of heavy demands – including Kyiv abandoning its plan to join Nato.
How Ukraine could turn war around in WEEKS using US missiles
By Sayan Bose, Foreign News Reporter
Putin’s forces invaded their neighbouring nation in February 2022 as part of the deluded tyrant’s plan to rebuild the Soviet Union amid his paranoid fears over Nato.
Almost three years later, Kyiv’s battle-weary troops are fighting to the death on multiple fronts.
They have faced several setbacks in the grinding conflict as Russia has made slow but incremental gains over Ukrainian territory.
But the green light from the US that now allows Ukraine to use long-range ATACMS missiles could be a game changer, an expert has said.
Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon told The Sun how Ukraine could turn the war around in six weeks when provided with unwavering support from key allies in the West.
The former British army officer said Washington’s decision to allow Ukraine to use ATACMS – and the prospect of Britain’s Storm Shadow missiles joining the war effort – is a “significant development”.
He explained: “Since day one Putin and his close aides have been threatening a nuclear strike if we escalate it, and today is the 1,000th day of this conflict, and it hasn’t happened.
“It should embolden our leaders, who must now realise that Putin’s threats are completely hollow.
“With the Russian boxer on the ropes, now is the time that we enable the Ukrainians to absolutely put in the killer punch and be in a really good position for the expected ceasefire.”
He added: “The fact that the Russians have been so vehement in their verbal attacks against the use of Nato missiles shows that this is a significant step.
“It could allow Ukraine to gain a good position in [the next] six weeks which will be important for Zelensky if Trump forces a ceasefire after getting back in office.”
Trump will take over as US president in January and has promised to end the Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking charge.
And insiders say Putin is open to discussing a peace deal.
Bullish Vlad is already dictating hardline terms for any deal brokered by Trump, sources say.
The Kremlin could agree to freeze conflict along frontlines – but will refuse to surrender any significant territory, five current and former Russian officials told Reuters.
Vlad’s forces are continuing to gain ground and Russia claims to have grabbed more eastern territory in recent days.
Sources say there could be room for negotiation over the precise carve-up of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.
Moscow claims the four eastern regions are wholly part of Russia – but open-source data shows up to 30 per cent is still held by Ukrainian defenders.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War said: “The manner in which the Kremlin is trying to set its terms for negotiations strongly signals that Russia’s objectives remain unchanged and still amount to full Ukrainian capitulation.
“The Kremlin does not appear any more willing to make concessions to the incoming Trump administration than it was to the current administration.”
