Ex-Rangers boss Michael Beale lined up for shock new job in Saudi Arabia

FORMER Rangers boss Michael Beale is on his way to Saudi Arabia to join Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq, according to reports.

The 44-year-old has been out of management since being sacked by Sunderland in February this year, just a few months after he was dismissed by the Ibrox club.

Now he’s set for a reunion with Steven Gerrard[/caption]

Beale worked under Gerrard during the Liverpool legend’s own stint in charge of Gers and followed him to Aston Villa in November 2021.

After stepping out on his own to become manager of Queens Park Rangers in June 2022, he was appointed Rangers boss in November that year, replacing Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Gerrard, 44, has been facing growing pressure at Al-Ettifaq but is believed to have the full backing of club chiefs.

Al-Ettifaq binned Gerrard ally Mark Allen a fortnight ago as part of a raft of changes behind the scenes, which included No2 Dean Holden also losing his job.

According to GiveMeSport, Gerrard has been allowed to approach Beale with a view to bringing him to the Middle East to help stable the ship and help the club improve on their sixth-placed finish last season. Talksport are reporting that the deal has been done and that Beale is HIRED.

Beale is understood to be seeking a fresh challenge after his latest managerial stint when awry at the Stadium of Light.

He has been in the headlines recently after appearing on a podcast and calling out “snakes” who distracted him from doing his job as a manager.

Beale stopped short of naming names or specific clubs, but said: “Around a couple of the moves I’ve had as a manager, I saw loads of snakes and people come out of the woodwork. And I didn’t like it.

“It made me uncomfortable, and perhaps I would’ve made better decisions if those people weren’t around, but that’s for another time.

“Ultimately, I’m very, very fortunate that I’ve been a manager at QPR, Glasgow Rangers, 52,000, Sunderland, 44,000 in the Championship.

“I’ve worked in the Premier League, I’ve worked in Serie A and I’ve worked in over 60 games in Europe across the Europa League and Champions League.

“So I have 257 games in the system, 77 games as a manager and at 44 years of age I feel like I’m at the start of my career. In that sense, I still feel like I’m a young coach.”

Rock and roll legend’s rare Ferrari convertible in perfect condition hits auction for eye-watering £200k

A GORGEOUS Ferrari once owned by a legend of rock music is set to sell at an auction for a scorching £200,000.

The Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, one of the Italian sports car maker’s most iconic motors, is said to be in stunning condition, naturally finished in Ferrari red and complimented with a beige leather interior.

The legendary sports car was once owned by a much-loved musician[/caption]

The classic beauty features 14-inch Cromodora five-lug alloy wheels and a removable roof panel.

Better yet, one of the Dino’s original owners was none other than Bob Seger, the legendary singer known for his heartland rock music and powerful voice, whose career has spanned some 60 years.

The star’s car is currently available to buy from the famous classic car auction website Bring a Trailer, with bidding running until Monday, November 25.

At the time of writing, the current bid sits at £256,446.

The listing says: “This 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS is one of approximately 2,900 E-series examples produced through July 1974 and left the factory in September 1973, finished in Verde Scuro over beige Connolly leather.

“Chassis 06000 was picked up in Italy by the first owner before being brought to the US and was later acquired by the Detroit-born musician, Bob Seger.

“The car is believed to have changed hands again in the 1980s and was subsequently repainted red before being sold to another owner in the late 1990s, with whom the car remained for the next two decades.

“Following a period of storage, the car was purchased as a project by an English collector and brought to the UK.

“An ensuing multi-year refurbishment, completed from 2021 through 2023, involved another repaint in red, an interior re-trim in beige leather, and mechanical service.”

The listing adds that the car comes with a powerful 2.4-litre V6 engine with triple Weber carburettors.

The official top speed of the model has been debated for decades, although it’s generally thought to be able to hit 146 mph.

The car is being offered in Texas as part of DriverSource’s 2024 Legends Collection with a Marcel Massini report, a Dino Compendium summary, and a clean Arizona title.

This example is said to be one of seven that left the factory finished in Verde Scuro, before it underwent a colour change to red at some point in the 1980s or 1990s.

The Dino, which was sold under the Dino marque between 1967 and 1974, was so-called to honour Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari’s late son, Alfredo “Dino” Ferrari, who died from a long-running illness in 1956 at the age of just 24.

This comes as another classic Ferrari – believed to be just one of 26 – is set to go for £450,000 at auction.

And elsewhere, a Ferrari super fan has been sued by the automaker after recreating their iconic design from scratch.

The ongoing five-year suit claims Jose Vitor Estevam Siqueira violated trademark law – turning his hobby into a financial nightmare.

Former 1D stars Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson are in attendance, as is Cheryl, mum to Liam’s son Bear.

Dozens of locals and fans have also gathered outside the church to pay their final respects.

Liam’s funeral is taking place in the Home Counties.

The private service is being attended by his family and closest friends, with celebrity pals also including Simon Cowell and James Cordon.

A wake will take place following the service.

It was snowing outside the 12th century church where the funeral is taking place.

A marquee was put up in preparation for guests’ arrival.

A floral tribute in the shape of bowling pins was also set up by the entrance.

Autumnal floral displays, made up of red and orange leaves, and white roses, were placed around the doorways of the church.

Florists were also seen unloading dozens of bunches of white flowers from a van shortly after 9am.

A source said: “Liam’s funeral is taking place in the Home Counties.

“His family have gone to great lengths to put together the perfect service and give him the send off he deserves.

“Liam may have been a global superstar but to Geoff and Karen he will always be their little boy.

“It is going to be an incredibly difficult day.”

Cheryl, 41, shares son Bear, seven, with Liam and spoke of the grief she feels for her son following his dad’s death.

She was a judge on X Factor when Wolverhampton-born Liam found fame as a teenager – and the couple later began dating in 2016.

They welcomed Bear in 2017 and went their separate ways the following year.

One Direction fans pay tribute

By EMILY-JANE HEAP

ONE Direction fan Alice Chapman came down to pay her respects to Liam Payne ahead of his funeral today.

The full-time mum, 40, who lives in the area where the funeral is being held, said she wanted to show the late singer’s family how “loved” he was.

She told The Sun: “It was such a shock to hear Liam had died. I lost a friend in similar circumstances recently, so it touched my heart.

“Liam was just a normal boy from Wolverhampton who we all watched on the TV on a Saturday night with a Chinese.”

The former events planner added: “It’s a mark of respect to line the street for when his mum and dad drive through.

“I couldn’t imagine anything worse than an empty street if it was my son. We want to show them that people care.

“People don’t appreciate how respected and loved someone was until they are gone.”

Local singer Alice Henry, 47, said she felt compelled to pay tribute to Liam as she is a parishioner at the church where his funeral is being held.

She added: “It’s such a tragic situation. I go to the church and know the vicar who is conducting the service well, so I wanted to come down and pay my respects.”

In a short statement following his death, Liam’s family said: “We are heartbroken.

“Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.”

Liam passed away on October 16 after falling from his third floor balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He had been in the country to renew his US visa having relocated to Florida with his girlfriend, American influencer Kate Cassidy.

During his trip he attended Niall Horan’s sell out concert at the Movistar Arena.

After news broke of his son’s passing, Liam’s brave father Geoff travelled out to South America to help authorities bring his son back to the UK.

Liam shot to international fame in 2010 when he auditioned for Simon Cowell’s The X Factor as a solo artist.

He was then put into One Direction by the judges.

Despite only coming third on the show, One Direction went on to become the biggest British group since The Beatles.

Throughout their five years together, they sold 70million records and landed four UK No1 singles and four UK No1 albums.

Speaking in 2022, Liam said he hoped to be remembered simply as being a “nice guy” rather than his musical accolades.

Liam said: “Honestly, just being a nice guy. I’d rather be known for being a nice guy than anything else.”

Payne previously appeared on Cordon’s The Late Late Show in America.

Former Little Mix star Jade Thirwall – who won X Factor with her bandmates one year after One Direction took part – described him as “the first friend I made in this industry”.

She said: “We fell out of touch as the years went by, but back in 2008 he was the first friend I made in this industry.

“Both of us so young, so ambitious, both hoping we’d ‘make it’. I hope you are at peace now”.

Camila Cabello described his death as a “tragedy” and said he “made an impression” on her when she was a young girl.

Ex-Man City women’s star probed for ‘conning fuming parents out of £45k in coaching sessions that NEVER happened’

AN international women’s footballer is being investigated for allegedly conning parents out of thousands of pounds for coaching sessions that never took place.

Welsh star Natasha Harding, who played for Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa, is accused of taking hundreds of pounds for one-to-one training with youngsters – but never carrying out the classes.

Harding was capped 103 times by Wales[/caption]

Angry parents claim Harding, capped 103 times by Wales in a star-studded career, owes them £45,000 in refunds.

Harding has apologised for the cancelled sessions but said it was “unavoidable” and “beyond my control”.

She said she is “devastated” over the situation and has agreed to pay refunds.

There are 27 “victims” including whole teams of young girls, who are said to have handed over as much as £1,200 each without getting anything in return.

Individual sessions for kids aged between eight and 15 cost £30 an hour, but many parents were buying multiple classes and some included whole squads of hopefuls.

Now the South Wales football community, where Harding began her career, fear the ex-striker has deliberately taken their money and has no intention of giving it back or holding any of the coaching sessions.

A WhatsApp group was created by outraged parents, after they realised more and more alleged victims were owed hundreds of pounds by Harding.

A source, whose 12-year-old daughter was due to train with the ex-pro, told The Sun: “She promises a lot to the kids, my friend’s daughter is autistic and she kept asking when she was going to see Natasha.

“She spent £900, she would add on dietician and gym plans but never actually got anything.

“She has repaid small amounts now that she knows we are putting up a fight to get our money back.

“But the parents who are owed more than £1,000 have got nothing back.”

After retiring from professional football last year Harding, 35, started offering out days where children could participate in private sessions.

According to sources, the sessions grew in popularity and Harding started block booking for up to £360.

OUT OF POCKET

A lot of the children who booked onto the sessions play for academies in Gwent, South East Wales, or The South Girls’ Development Centre.

Their parents are fearful that speaking out could affect their children’s future football careers.

The anonymous source added: “She is putting fear into us because she is perceived to control the football world, she’s got contacts everywhere.

“My daughter ended up having zero sessions, I couldn’t get her to commit to a date and it took me weeks to chase her for a refund.

“People are realising she has purposefully taken money with no intention of giving it back.”

The promised sessions were supposed to start in June 2023 and when they began to be cancelled many gave Harding “the benefit of the doubt”.

But now parents are exchanging up to 90 messages a day on a specially set-up WhatsApp group as the missed thirty-pound sessions have begun piling up.

Reported excuses include Harding telling parents she had two car crashes in three weeks, alongside two car breakdowns and one car “blow out”.

Harding, Welsh Footballer of the Year in 2016, has been reported to Action Fraud, and the National Fraud and Cyber Crime Reporting Centre.

It is understood parents have also reported her to Gwent Police and Gloucestershire Police.

STAR’S APOLOGY

Harding, 35, who lives in Stroud, Glos, has apologised and blames circumstances beyond her control for the missed coaching sessions.

She told The Sun: “I offer my apologies to those affected whose sessions I could not complete.

“This was unavoidable, and it was never the intention not to fulfil the sessions.

“Because of circumstances beyond my control, which was always made clear to parents, I had to cancel some sessions after initiating and completing others.”

Harding, now a TV commentator on the women’s game, added: “I’ve been trying to expand my small academy and was unfortunately let down by additional coaches, my car being written off and the second car breaking down.

“When without a car I caught a two-hour train to sessions to avoid cancellations, lugging my equipment with me and needing taxis.

“However, this was not sustainable.

“The academy’s purpose is to provide detailed technical coaching to young boys and girls and provide them with opportunities I never had, with the cost below alternative coaches to give equal opportunity without barriers, prejudices, or preferences.

“I’m devastated that I haven’t been able to finish the session blocks, and I’ve always been upfront about the problems I’ve faced that are beyond my control.

“We agreed on refunds for those sessions and I have paid them.

“The majority of parents have been incredibly understanding and I have received a huge amount of positive references and I continue to work hard, delivering local sessions.”

A spokeswoman for Action Fraud confirmed a complaint had been made about Harding.
