DARTS hero Glen Durrant “hopes and prays” former rival Chris Dobey doesn’t win the Premier League.
The pair battled on the oche many times, with their most high-profile meeting taking place at the 2020 World Darts Championship when Durrant, 54, knocked Dobey, 34, out in the fourth round.
Duzza stepped away from professional darts in 2022 and has since worked as a pundit for Sky Sports.
Dobey, on the other hand, enjoyed an impressive World Darts Championship campaign as he made it all the way to the semi-finals
The Bedlington thrower was eliminated by eventual runner-up Michael van Gerwen but his stunning displays earned him a place in the Premier League of Darts.
Durrant congratulated Dobey but his praise was followed by a tongue in cheek post on social media.
The veteran jokingly stated he will be rooting against his former foe next month.
Durrant posted: “So happy for @Dobey180….. I just hope and pray he doesn’t win it though !!”
But this was just innocent banter as Durrant and Dobey are actually good friends away from darts.
The Middlesbrough fan was probably just adding fuel to their North East rivalry, with Dobey a Newcastle supporter.
Durrant said six years ago: “Chris is just the nicest man in the world and it would be great to have Middlesbrough vs Newcastle.
“To play Chris – he’s up there with Steve Beaton and Dave Chisnall. He’s just the nicest guy – nobody has a bad word to say about him.”
Dobey will be joined by other darts stars in the Prem, such as Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Nathan Aspinall, Rob Cross, Gerwyn Price and Stephen Bunting.
He will also be going up against Luke Littler after he became the youngest ever world champion at the age of 17.
THIS is the horrifying moment a screaming teenage girl was chased down and stabbed by a deranged stalker.
Ellis Dismore can be seen chasing the schoolgirl, who he had groomed online, as she got off a school bus on Premier Road in Middlesbrough before knifing the victim.
The 24-year-old, who was convicted of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article, left threatening and disturbing messages for her family before carrying out the horrifying attack in 2023.
He was today jailed for 43 years.
In chilling Snapchats sent by the sick thug, he is heard saying that he will “f***ing get her raped and stabbed”.
He adds: “I don’t even f***ing care as well if I get f***ing jail, yeah, ’cause I will happily, right, ruin her life. I will happily, yeah, put the knife straight in her heart and spin it around as all the blood pours out.”
Thankfully, the teen was saved by a brave motorist who interrupted the knife attack and took the girl to safety. She was left with a number of stab wounds.
The shocking footage, which has come from a dash cam and local CCTV cameras, has been released after Dismore’s sentence.
Cleveland Police said Dismore was jailed at Teesside Crown Court for attempted murder and more than 20 other offences against young girls.
Dismore, from Middlesbrough, had groomed the 15-year-old online and then sent her relatives a series of chilling messages when the police were told about what was happening.
He attacked the girl after she got off a school bus and repeatedly stabbed her but stopped when a driver intervened and took the injured girl home.
In November, Dismore was convicted of a further 16 offences on girls which came to light when detectives investigated the attempted murder.
Officers said that over seven years, Dismore used fake profiles to pose as a teenager online and incited victims to send him indecent photos of themselves.
He threatened to share the pictures if they refused further demands.
Dismore tried to meet his victims in person and incited them to engage in sexual activity, police said.
Outside court, Detective Sergeant Andrew Hamilton praised the bravery of the victims for coming forward.
The officer said: “Over a period of seven years, Dismore used fake social media accounts to groom and stalk a number of young girls and enticed them into sending indecent images.
“He made vile threats towards them and sent sickening voice notes threatening to rape and stab them.
“Dismore’s offending escalated when he attacked one 15-year-old girl in the street with a knife in a terrifying assault as she went home from school, leaving her with serious injuries.
“Had she not been saved by a courageous passer-by, she could have lost her life.
“This incident led to the discovery of other girls who had been preyed on by Dismore and stalked and harassed via social media.”
Outside court, Debbie Breen, head of the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit at CPS North East, said: “Ellis Dismore is a dangerous and violent sexual predator who manipulated his young victims into sexual activity through fear and intimidation.
“It is clear that these were not idle threats, as Dismore went on to carry out a terrifying knife attack against one of his victims.
“Despite the horrific nature of his actions toward them, the evidence provided by the brave young victims in this case has been instrumental in helping the Crown Prosecution Service to build such a robust case against Dismore.
“We sincerely hope that the part they have each played in jailing such a dangerous man will bring them some measure of comfort.”
