Five Scots restaurants named among best in UK
FIVE Scots restaurants have been named among the top 100 in the UK.
The annual Top 100 list, curated by online booking system OpenTable, takes into account more than 900,000 reviews along with diner ratings and reservation demand.
Five Scottish restaurants were named by diners in the Top 100 UK restaurants[/caption]The selected Scottish restaurants have been recognised for their exceptional food, service, and overall dining experience.
OpenTable also noted a rise in mid-week and early dinner dining between 4 and 6 pm over the past year.
Laure Bornet, vice-president of International Growth at OpenTable said: “We’re seeing a shift in UK dining habits. Brits are breaking away from traditional patterns by embracing earlier dinner times and mid-week dining, which is good news for restaurants as these times can be typically quieter.
“According to new research, these trends are set to continue into 2025 – whether it’s a Wednesday evening tasting menu or an early dinner with colleagues, diners are mixing it up and creating their own dining prime time.”

Cafe Boheme in Abderdeen boasts a 4.8 star rating[/caption]Aberdeen’s Cafe Boheme, celebrated for its Parisian-inspired cuisine, is one of those named on the list.

Staff at the Edinburgh eatery took to social media to share their delight at the honour.
They wrote: “We are absolutely delighted to have been named amongst the Top 100 restaurants in the U.K. by OpenTable…As a family run business this means a lot to us.”

Leicester vs Chelsea preview
Premier League football returns to our screens following the international break.
And we kick-start things on Saturday lunchtime with an intriguing encounter between Leicester and Chelsea at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes enter the contest sitting in 15th position with 10 points from their opening 11 matches of the 2024-25 campaign – leaving them three clear of the relegation zone.
Steve Cooper’s side have registered two victories since their promotion, although those arrived in back-to-back games against Bournemouth and Southampton in October.
They’ve not managed a win since then, losing three of their last four in all competitions – including a 3-0 defeat at Manchester United last time out.
The defeat at Old Trafford ended Leicester’s impressive run of scoring in every top-flight game this season, and it also means they’ve now conceded 2+ goals in four of their last five.
It’s been defensively that Leicester have struggled this season having shipped 21 goals, managed just one clean sheet with the second-highest shots conceded in the division (195).
Only Ipswich Town and Southampton have a higher xGC (expected goals conceded) than the Foxes at 20.55.
They’ve also struggled against Saturday’s opponents Chelsea in recent years with the visitors having won five of the last six games in all competitions, conceding 15 goals in that run.
As for Chelsea, they are riding high in third position – four points behind second-placed Manchester City having only lost twice this season.
But they’ll need to start converting draws into wins if they are to continue their quest for Champions League qualification having taken just six points from their last five league matches.
Maresca’s side have failed to score more than once in four of their last five league outings and haven’t managed a clean sheet in the top-tier since September.

Leicester vs Chelsea preview betting tips and predictions
Win and BTTS
Neither side looks particularly capable of a shut out, and both sides tend to get themselves on the scoresheet.
Leicester only have one Premier League clean sheet this season and have alarmingly shipped 14 goals in their last five matches in all competitions. They have, however, only failed to score twice in 14 competitive outings this term.
Chelsea have two clean sheets in the Premier League, but rank among the best for goals scored. The Blues have netted 21 goals – bettered only by Tottenham, Brentford and Manchester City. They also have the second-highest xG from open play (17.06) in the league.

Neto assist
Pedro Neto has really started to establish himself in Chelsea’s best XI. The Portuguese international, 24, has started and completed 90 minutes in each of Chelsea’s last three Premier League games. And it’s not too difficult to see why.
Aside from scoring a cracking equaliser against Arsenal last time out, the winger has created a whopping eight chances for his colleagues in their last four matches, which is the highest of any Chelsea player. He’s also had more touches in the opposition final third (100) and the highest xA (1.00) of any of his teammates.

Man City vs Tottenham preview
This one could be interesting.
Manchester City come here having lost their last FOUR in all competitions.
They head into the Premier League weekend still in second spot but already five points behind leaders Liverpool.
At Brighton before the international break, City were cruising and a goal up at the interval, only to throw away that lead and lose 2-1.
The game prior to this remarkable run, they weren’t particularly convincing against a poor Southampton side, winning 1-0 at the Etihad.
Something has to have changed over the break, having scored in all four of those defeats.
While Spurs have lost their last two games, latterly a home game to Ipswich before the pause.
They find themselves struggling down in tenth spot and have lost their last three away games on the spin.
Someone’s run will come to an end here.

Man City vs Tottenham prediction and betting tips
Turnaround
The international break probably came at the right time for a Manchester City side in an unusual rut.
Of course there’s goals in this team but we’ve seen they’re quite capable of throwing a few in their own net at the same time.
This fixture has thrown up 17 GOALS in the last three runnings at the Etihad and there’s no reason this won’t follow suit.

Kul as you like
It was a successful international break for Dejan Kulusevski, who has been a real bright light for Spurs this year.
His record against City in the Premier League is really strong too, with three goals and two assists in five league outings against the Cityzens.
- Dejan Kulusevski to score anytime at 11/2 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest preview
Are Arsenal still in the title race?
The Gunners sit fourth in the division with 19 points from their opening 11 matches of the season, which leaves them nine behind leaders Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta’s side have endured a miserable few weeks having taken just five points from a possible 15, suffering unexpected defeats to Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
Just three sides (Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and Southampton) have collected fewer points over the last five league encounters with rock-bottom Saints their only win since the beginning of October.
It’s not all doom and gloom though given captain Martin Odegaard’s return and the fact they’ve won their last three home games against Nottingham Forest by an aggregate score of 12-1.
However, any more setbacks would likely rule them out of the title race and securing three points against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be far easier said than done.
Forest have virtually an identical record to their opponents having won five, drawn four and lost two this season.
Nuno’s high-flying side are behind Arsenal by a single goal on goal difference and boast the second-best away record in the Premier League – including that famous 1-0 win at Anfield.
Chris Wood has been the main man for them in attack having struck eight goals this season, and he remains in form having scored a brace and hat-trick for New Zealand over the international break.
Defensively they’ve also been solid having managed four clean sheets with Liverpool the only side to have conceded fewer than Nottingham Forest’s 10 league goals.
It looks like it could be a battle of the set-piece specialists on Saturday. Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have both scored FIVE goals from set-plays this season – more than anyone apart from Aston Villa.

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest preview betting tips and predictions
Booked
It’s unclear exactly how Mikel Arteta will set his side up on Saturday afternoon. However, the Spanish manager should have all of his midfield options fit and available for selection, and that could see Thomas Partey continue at right-back in the absence of Ben White.
Should that happen, the 31-year-old will have his hands full up against the lightning-quick Callum Hudson-Odoi, who will likely look to catch Arsenal cold on the counter. Partey has picked up two bookings in the league this season, while only Kai Havertz has committed fouls (19).
- Thomas Partey booked at 7/4 with William Hill – CLAIM HERE
Tense
It’s unlikely to be raining goals at the Emirates on Saturday between two of the league’s best defences. They have a combined seven clean sheets between them and both rank in the top five for fewest goals conceded.
In fact, only Liverpool boasts a better xGC than either Arsenal (12.07) or Nottingham Forest (11.41) with four of the last five decided by a one-goal margin.

‘There were moments’ – Pep Guardiola admits he considering leaving Man City but LOSING STREAK convinced him to stay
PEP GUARDIOLA admits he considered leaving Manchester City but their four-game losing streak convinced him to stay.
The Spaniard’s contract was set to expire next summer, ending his nine-year stay at the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola stayed at Man City to end their run of four straight defeats[/caption]But Guardiola will now be at City for a decade and beyond after agreeing a year-long extension with the option for a further season.
He’s enjoyed plenty of success in the north west following his arrival in 2016.
Guardiola has led City to six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups and a Champions League.
While the 2022/23 season saw City become just the second English side to complete a historic modern-day Treble.
And just last term, City became the first-ever English team to win four Premier League titles in a row.
But despite still having a star-studded squad, City’s current campaign has not yet lived up to expectations.
Guardiola has been forced to go without key men like Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne for the majority of the term so far.
And City’s form has taken a huge hit, with the champs losing their last four matches in all competitions for the first time since Guardiola’s arrival.
FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS
Some outsiders felt it showed the Spaniard had perhaps lost his spark and interest.
But Guardiola insists the opposite, claiming the losing streak is the main reason behind his decision to sign on for at least another season.
Admitting that he did consider walking away at the end of the current campaign, Guardiola said: “I felt I could not leave now — simple as that.
“Maybe the four defeats was the reason why and I felt the club still wanted me.
Firstly because we won a lot, I feel love. But it’s a business and you have to win. I have a contract but I know if we don’t win I won’t continue.
“The moment it’s done, the club will know it. And at this moment we didn’t feel it.
“Txiki, Ferran and Khaldoon didn’t feel it so that’s why I’ve extended – to stay here and to continue to do well.
“Every time I signed the contract I say it’s the last two – and still we are here. So honestly myself and my staff, we deserve to be here. I’m not arrogant to say it, it’s the truth.
“We deserve the chance – after four defeats in a row – to bounce back and try to turn the situation. I had the feeling I wanted to take the right decisions for the future.
“I enjoy being here, I like my job. I said many times, the moment I don’t have that feeling – even with a contract – I will call my chairman, my CEO and say the best thing for the club is for me to leave.
“I don’t have that feeling right now, so I’ve extended.”
