Our Simba Hybrid Luxe review
Clara Wolsey, our Commercial SEO Lead, roadtested the Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress in a bid to cure her back pain. Here are her honest thoughts...
The Simba Hybrid Luxe is an ultra-comfortable, high-quality, premium mattress with a price tag that reflects that.
I tested it out over three months and have completely fallen in love with it.
One of the major differences that I first noticed about the mattress was that I could no longer feel my husband moving in the night.
The whole bed used to shake as he rolled over, but the Luxe had put an end to that. This has hugely improved my sleep quality, as my sleep is less disturbed.
The second major difference is that I no longer wake up with back pain thanks to its pressure relief tech.
I still experience it in day-to-day life, but not first thing in the morning, which is a massive improvement.
The only drawbacks I could find are the price (I recommend snapping one up in the sale if this is a concern), and that my partner’s side sinks due to him being significantly heavier.
Since swapping my mattress for the Simba Hybrid Luxe, I genuinely look forward to getting into bed every night.
Climbing in is absolute bliss, a feeling I’ve never experienced with any of my former mattresses.

When is Black Friday 2024?
Black Friday falls on November 29 this year.
The American retail tradition is always held the day after Thanksgiving in the US, which we’ve detailed in our guide to the Black Friday meaning.
These days, retailers tend to launch the best Black Friday deals from early November, so you’ve got most of this month to go bargain-hunting.
Plus, some brands will even keep up the discounts after the Cyber weekend or while stocks last.
Is Simba taking part in Black Friday this year?
Simba has kicked off the celebrations with a ‘Black November giveaway’.
Now is a great time to shop if you need everything from a brand-new mattress to a fluffy new duvet.
That’s because the giveaway includes free pillows, duvets, and protectors with selected mattresses.
Here’s what you get:
- Two free Hybrid pillows plus mattress protector when you buy an Original Hybrid or Source mattress
- Free Hybrid duvet, two Hybrid pillows plus mattress protector when you buy a Pro Hybrid or Escape mattress
- Free Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet, two Hybrid pillows plus mattress protector when you buy a Luxe, Ultra Hybrid, or Apex mattress
The offer ends at 23:59 GMT on November 21, 2024.
We’re therefore expecting the brand to announce more Black Friday deals, continuing its tradition of offering significant discounts on its sleep products.
So, whether you’re after a new mattress or some sleep accessories, there’ll be plenty more bargains in store.
What to expect from Simba’s Black Friday sale 2024?
Simba’s Black Friday deals are expected to feature impressive discounts across its range of sleep products.
With the Black November giveaway underway, shoppers are currently being treated to free pillows, duvets, and protectors with selected mattresses (see above).
And for Black Friday itself, you can anticipate similar savings to previous years on best-selling items such as the Simba Hybrid Mattress and sleep bundles.
Last year’s event had up to 55% off items, which should give you an idea of the sort of discounts to expect.
If Simba doesn’t beat or closely match that, we’d be very surprised.
More Black Friday Mattress Deals

Sleep accessories were also discounted, with the Simba Orbit weighted blanket slashed from £169 to £126.75, and the Performance bed linen reduced by 55%.

When is Cyber Monday 2024 and is Simba taking part?
Cyber Monday falls on December 2, 2024.
We’re expecting Simba to take part in the online shopping event, as it has done previously.
Usually, it’s safe to assume that brands participating in Black Friday will continue their sales into Cyber Monday.
For many shoppers, Cyber Monday is the last day to find the best bargain buys, as the annual sale draws to a close and retailers rush to clear stock.
There’s a chance that Simba’s Cyber Monday deals might include further discounts on mattresses, bedding, and sleep accessories only available on that day.
However, there are no guarantees.
Some Black Friday sales maintain the same prices on Cyber Monday, so we’d always recommend snapping up a good deal when you find it.
How much does Simba’s shipping cost?
Simba offers free next-day delivery to most UK postcodes.
If you’re looking for a more tailored delivery experience, you can opt for a premium delivery option, such as specified time delivery which is priced from £10.
You can also choose VIP delivery, which costs £50 and includes a “bespoke service by a specialist team who install your mattress or bed for immediate use and remove all packaging”.
For an extra fee, they’ll also take away your old mattress or bed to be recycled.
For more details, visit Simba’s delivery information page.
Does Simba offer any other discounts?
Alongside Simba’s Black Friday deals, throughout the year you’ll find seasonal sales, bundle discounts, and promotional codes that can significantly reduce the cost of your order.
Students, key workers, and anyone in the armed forces can often benefit from additional discounts via Student Beans, Blue Light Card, and Health Discounts.
Additionally, Simba sometimes offers referral discounts, allowing both the referrer and the new customer to save.
Signing up for the Simba newsletter can unlock exclusive offers, early access to upcoming sales, and special discount codes.
Are mattresses cheaper on Black Friday?
Because mattress brands tend to run year-round sales, it’s hard to tell if you’re getting the best deal.
However, because almost every mattress seller runs a sale simultaneously on Black Friday, the extra competitiveness means you should be able to find a decent price at the tail-end of this month.
It might not be the huge discount it once was, but we’d be surprised if you could find a better time of year to buy a mattress than Black Friday.

I’ve been in the I’m A Celeb jungle – here’s why bosses won’t get their money’s worth out of £1.5million Coleen Rooney
I’M A Celebrity bosses broke the bank to land £1.5m signing Coleen Rooney.
But show legend Dean Gaffney, 46, claims the savvy mum-of-four won’t dish out the explosive Wagatha Christine and family gossip they’d hoped for.
Dean Gaffney thinks Coleen will hold back sharing juicy gossip[/caption]There’s been the odd bit of insight into family life, with Coleen sharing husband Wayne’s softer side and the love notes he leaves her, but she’s remained tight-lipped on her libel court battle with Rebekah Vardy.
Other than the occasional mention of it by campmates like Dean McCullough early on, there’s been no deep dive on the famous court clash.
“What I think about Coleen as a whole, I think she’s kept a very dignified silence, which is what I like to see,” said Dean in an exclusive interview with The Sun on behalf of online bingo site, Heart Bingo.
“Whatever your feelings are on that whole saga, it’s kind of irrelevant. I think, you know, once it’s done, you kind of move on from it. I think she feels like she’s done that.
“Obviously the producers aren’t silly, they’re paying an obscene amount of money to open up about that saga.
“But I also think just the fact that she’s, you know, the wife of a huge footballer. They’ve obviously had their testing times for their marriage. And I think, again, sort of very clever in what they do.”
But EastEnders legend Dean, who first entered the jungle in 2006 before starring in All Stars in 2023, doesn’t think the lack of juicy gossip will harm Coleen’s chances of being crowned Queen of the Jungle.
“I think Coleen kind of goes under the bracket of Cheryl Cole and Michelle Keegan, that women love her and men want to be with her,” he said.
“I think it’s that kind of thing. She’s very wholesome and there’s not many people that have that.
“I’ve been around Cheryl and I’ve been around Michelle to know that people just love them people, they just love them characters. And I think Coleen falls into that.
“I think she’s a good mum, and I think it’s all about her family, protecting the family.
“So it’ll be very interesting to see how she copes in camp and whether she opens up because she keeps a dignified silence.
“You know, this ain’t her first rodeo. I think she’ll be very guarded to protect her family. So it’ll be interesting to see what little tidbits she gives us.”
Dean also had his say on squeamish namesake’s penchant for screaming “get me out of here” during trials.
Dean said men fancy Coleen and women want to be her[/caption] He likened the mum-of-four to Cheryl Cole[/caption]Radio star Dean is being picked day after day by the public to do trials but has failed to get more than a few stars in each.
“When you are a scaredy cat, we live in a country that we like to, and we’re all guilty of it, we like to inflict a little bit of pain on people,” said Dean.
“And we’re a sinister lot, the general public in Great Britain. I think someone screaming is better for us as a viewer than someone who just gets through it, does the trial, gets the ten stars and moves on.
“I think then people don’t really get picked because the show is about us at home, especially in the current climate we’re all in. You know, we’re all going through hardship at the moment.
“I think having a bit of light relief and seeing other people go through a bit of misfortune probably makes us smile a bit.”
I'm A Celebrity 2024
i'm A Celebrity is back for its 24th series, with a batch of famous faces living in the Aussie jungle. The Sun's Jake Penkethman takes a look at the stars on the show this year..
Coleen Rooney – Arguably the most famous name in the camp, the leading WAG, known for her marriage to Wayne Rooney, has made a grand return to TV as she looks to put the Wagatha Christie scandal behind her. The Sun revealed the mum-of-four had bagged an eye-watering deal worth over £1.5million to be on the show this year making her the highest-paid contestant ever.
Tulisa – The popstar and former X Factor judge has made her triumphant TV comeback by signing up to this year’s I’m A Celeb after shunning TV shows for many years. Known for being a member of the trio, N-Dubz, Tulisa became a household name back in 2011 when she signed on to replace Cheryl on ITV show The X Factor in a multi-million pound deal.
Alan Halsall – The actor, known for playing the long-running role of Tyrone Dobbs on ITV soap opera Coronation Street, was originally signed up to head Down Under last year but an operation threw his scheduled appearance off-course. Now he has become the latest Corrie star to win over both the viewers and his fellow celebrities.
Melvin Odoom – The Radio DJ has become a regular face on TV screens after rising to fame with presenting roles on Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1 and 4Music. Melvin has already been for a spin on the Strictly dancefloor and co-hosted The Xtra Factor with Rochelle Humes in 2015 but now he is facing up to his biggest challenge yet – the Aussie jungle.
GK Barry – The UK’s biggest social media personality, GK, whose real name is Grace Keeling, has transformed her TikTok stardom into a lucrative career. Aside from her popular social media channels, she hosts the weekly podcast, Saving Grace, and regularly appears on ITV talk show, Loose Women. She has even gone on to endorse popular brands such as PrettyLittleThing, KFC and Ann Summers.
Dean McCullough – A rising star amongst this year’s bunch of celebs, Dean first achieved notability through his radio appearances on Gaydio and BBC Radio 1. He was chosen to join the BBC station permanently in 2021 and has featured prominently ever since. He has enjoyed a crossover to ITV over the past year thanks to his guest slots on Big Brother spin-off show, Late & Live.
Oti Mabuse – The pro dancer has signed up to her latest TV show after making her way through the biggest programmes on the box. She originally found fame on Strictly Come Dancing but has since branched out into the world of TV judging with appearances on former BBC show The Greatest Dancer as well as her current role on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.
Danny Jones – The McFly star was drafted into the programme last minute as a replacement for Tommy Fury. Danny is the second member of McFly to enter the jungle, after Dougie Poynter won the show in 2011. He is also considered a rising star on ITV as he’s now one of the mentors on their Saturday night talent show, The Voice, along with bandmate Tom Fletcher.
Jane Moore – The Loose Women star and The Sun columnist is braving the creepy crawlies this year. The star is ready for a new challenge – having recently split from her husband. It will be Jane’s first foray into reality TV with the telly favourite having always said no to reality shows in the past.
Barry McGuigan – Former pro boxer Barry is the latest fighting champ to head Down Under following in the footsteps of Tony Bellew and Amir Khan. It comes after a tough few years for Irish star Barry, who lost his daughter Danika to bowel cancer. He told The Late Late Show in 2021: “She was such an intrinsic part of the family that every day we ache.”
Maura Higgins – The Irish TV beauty first found fame on Love Island where she found a brief connection with dancer Curtis Pritchard. Since then, she has competed on Dancing On Ice as well as hosting the Irish version of the beauty contest, Glow Up. Since last year, she has been working on building up her career in the US by being the social media correspondent and host of Aftersun to accompany Love Island USA. She even guest hosted an episode of the spin-off, Love Island Games, in place of Maya Jama last year.
Rev. Richard Coles – Former BBC radio host the Rev Richard Coles is a late arrival on I’m A Celebrity, and he’s ready to spill the beans on his former employer. The former Communards and Strictly star, said the BBC did not know its a**e from its elbow last year. An insider said: “Rev Coles will have a variety of tales to tell from his wild days as a pop star in the Eighties, through to performing on Strictly and his later life as a man of the cloth.”
Raymond van Barneveld follows Luke Littler’s lead as he reveals pre-match diet for Darts Players Championship
RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD has followed Luke Littler’s lead by revealing his pre-match diet for the Darts Players Championship.
Littler stormed to victory at last weekend’s Grand Slam with an emphatic win over Martin Lukeman.
Raymond van Barneveld is copying Luke Littler’s diet ahead of the Darts Players Championship[/caption] Barney stocked up on the grub that fuelled Littler to Grand Prix glory[/caption]He made light work of his opponent in a 16-3 thrashing.
And the result, his first in a ranking TV final, saw the teen soar to world No5 in the darts rankings.
Amazingly, Littler fuelled his way to success with an extremely unconventional diet.
Speaking after the final, beaten opponent Lukeman revealed his 17-year-old opponent scoffed “a Boost, a meal deal and a curry” before washing it down with “Squashies” sweets.
The carb-laden grub clearly did no harm to Littler’s performance, instead sending the ace on a barnstorming run that saw him hit TWELVE 180s.
And Littler’s diet is clearly catching on around the darting world, with one of the game’s most iconic players taking a leaf from his book.
Van Barneveld is a four-time World Championship winner who was Littler’s hero when the kid slinger was growing.
But now it’s the veteran who’s taking inspiration after showing off his amazing lunch basket ahead of the start of the Darts Players Championship.
CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERS
Posting a picture on social media, Van Barneveld revealed a treat-laden lunch featuring a classic BLT sandwich.
He topped off the Tesco meal deal with a packet of chicken Fridge Raiders.
Luke Littler prize money breakdown
Here is all the prize money Luke Littler has won so far after his Grand Slam of Darts victory:
World Championship 2023 – £200,000
Grand Slam of Darts 2024 – £150,000
European Tour – £91,000
Player Championships events – £71,500
UK Open 2023 + 2024 – £17,500
World Matchplay – £10,000
World Grand Prix – £7,500
European Championship – £7,500
(Unranked) Premier League Darts – £315,000
And Van Barneveld made sure to fully emulate Littler by also throwing in a chicken katsu curry, a Boost chocolate bar and an entire bag of Squashies sweets.
He then tagged Littler in the post, saying: “Ready for tomorrow. If you know, you know.”
Littler responded by declaring: “He knows the score.”
Van Barneveld will kick off his Players Championship quest this evening against Chris Landman.
While Littler faces a tough challenge in fellow Premier League star Rob Cross.
Elsewhere, Nathan Aspinall takes on Chris Dobey.
And defending champion Luke Humphries is hoping to make up for his early Grand Prix exit by beating Gabriel Clemens.
Inside Littler's massive rise
LUKE LITTLER has taken the darts world by storm since exploding onto the scene at the PDC World Championship at the beginning of the year.
The Nuke reached the final on his Ally Pally debut at just 16 years of age – smashing records along the way.
He has then gone on to win a host of PDC events and the Premier League title – which he claimed at the O2 Arena by beating world champion Luke Humphries in May.
He also finished his first season in the World Series as the No1 ranked player.
He has joined Jude Bellingham on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list.
And the teenage titan even had to snub an invite from the WWE.
The Sun exclusively revealed that Littler is plotting to create a fitness empire.
He is also cashing in away from the Oche thanks to an Instagram side hustle.
And he’s even the face of a brand new cereal.
But he is newly single after splitting from girlfriend Eloise Milburn following a 10-month relationship.
Check out all of our latest Luke Littler stories.
I’m marrying the man with the world’s first face transplant – teenagers taunt us & cruel trolls say I’m a gold digger
POSTING news of her engagement on Instagram alongside a snap of her new fiance, smitten Jessica Perez watches as the comments pour in.
But instead of congratulating her or making gushing comments about the sparkling diamond ring on her finger, Jessica, 33, is ridiculed for her choice in partner.
“What’s wrong with his face?” writes one, while another jibes, “He must have had an allergic reaction.”
That’s because Jessica’s fiance is Joe DiMeo, the man who made headlines worldwide when he had life-changing surgery to save his face back in 2020, following a car accident two years prior.
Since then, he’s had a staggering 20 reconstructive surgeries and become the first-ever person to receive a face and double hand transplant.
Since announcing their engagement earlier this month and now in the midst of planning their December wedding, the haters have turned on Joe’s bride to be.
“I get a lot of hate online, at this point I feel like a punching bag,” explains Jessica, in an exclusive interview.
“People say I’m a gold digger, attention seeking, and call me fake.
“The disrespect is crazy especially – I’m a good person and do the right thing, trust me you want me on your side.”
Nurse Jessica met Joe, 26, in October 2021 eight months after his life-changing transplant.
In July 2018, Joe’s car hit a curb and caught fire as he drove home from his night shift as a food tester, leaving him with burns across 80% of his body.
The car hit a curb and utility pole, flipped over, and burst into flames. Another driver who saw the accident pulled over to rescue DiMeo.
Afterward, he spent months in a medically induced coma and underwent 20 reconstructive surgeries and multiple skin grafts to treat his extensive third-degree burns.
He first bonded with Jessica on Instagram, after she read about his story and messaged him.
Their relationship quickly blossomed as they bonded over their shared love for Boston Terrier dogs – and they now share Buster, six, and Kirkland, seven.
She says she was instantly taken by him.
“From our first phone call, Joe was special to me,” Jessica recalls.
“We talked every day on the phone, it was long distance for us at the beginning – with me based in Ohio and him based almost 600 miles away in New Jersey.
“I fell in love with him the first time I hugged him.
“Joe checks all the boxes for me.”
Jessica says she soon became aware of the cruel jibes Joe received about his appearance.
“Teenagers can be rude and remark ‘what’s wrong with his face’,” she says.
“Joe doesn’t care, but I wonder how people are raised so poorly.
“It bothers me, people need to be better than that. But I also remind myself they are likely projecting their jealousy when they say hateful things.
“I enjoy our online supporters tearing them down. But I will typically ignore the cowards that hide behind a fake profile.”
The couple announced their engagement days after the proposal with a stunning photo shoot and insist they couldn’t be happier about starting their “new chapter” together.
“After everything – from the transplant surgeries to the recovery – there’s this feeling of appreciation for the simple things,” Joe, who is based in Jersey, US, says.
“Planning this wedding is like the start of a new chapter.
“It’s a symbol of how far we’ve come together.”
Some of the cruellest remarks are just ignorant jokes, like comparing Joe to someone with a peanut allergy
Jessica Perez
The proposal was far from lavish but special and recalling the day he asked Jessica to marry him, Joe says:
“I popped the question before dinner.
“It was simple. We went to Peter Luger’s, a spot we both love.
“It was a low-key, intimate moment surrounded by people we care about, my parents. We’ve built such a strong bond, and it was just a natural next step for us.
“I wasn’t too nervous – it felt like something we were both ready for.”
Jessica says she “wasn’t surprised” as they had discussed marriage plans, but that it “didn’t make it any less special”.
She adds: “Everything just fell into place.”
Jessica says that while most of the the feedback they’ve had since their engagement has been positive, the trolling still hasn’t stopped.
She adds: “Unfortunately, the online bullying hasn’t completely gone away.
“Around 10% of the comments are still cruel and repetitive.
“It’s the same unoriginal insults, mostly targeting Joe’s appearance, and at times, I get attacked personally.
“Some of the cruellest remarks are just ignorant jokes, like comparing Joe to someone with a peanut allergy or bee stings, which only shows how uneducated people can be.
“We also get a lot of unsolicited medical advice, which I find frustrating, especially since I have a medical background myself.”
Jessica says that whilst she blocks out the hate most of the time, she sometimes tries to ‘educate’ instead.
“As for the hate, I ignore most of it. But every now and then, I respond with the goal of educating the bullies,” she says.
JOE'S INCREDIBLE SURGERY
It took a team of 140 surgeons, nurses and support staff at NYU Langone Health Centre in New York City to pull off the surgery in August 2020 – which had only been attempted twice before.
He underwent 20 reconstructive plastic surgeries and skin grafts before spending 23 hours in August 2020 having the pioneering surgery.
His donor was a stroke victim, 48, from Delaware, who died two days earlier.
For several weeks, Joe couldn’t move at all. But slowly, he managed to regain his muscle memory.
“It’s shocking when you see it’s a single father making fun of someone with a disability, so I might reply with something like, ‘Do better for your kids.’
“Sometimes it’s grown women attacking me, and I’ll respond the same way, encouraging them to do better.
“We’re all one accident away from a disability ourselves, and people should remember that.”
We’re building a life together that’s grounded in strength and resilience
Jessica Perez
As for wedding plans, the couple have set their sights on eloping and have decided to to head to Hawaii to tie the knot.
They’re planning an intimate day with just the two of them whilst family watch from afar.
Jessica says: “We originally planned to go to Oahu for my birthday, but we decided, why not get married while we’re there?
“It’s just going to be us and a live stream for our families, which makes sense since I’m from California and Joe’s from New Jersey.
“We wanted to make it easier on everyone, so doing it virtually felt like the right call.”
And Jessica says she will continue to ignore the criticism and focus on her future with Joe.
“We’re excited about the future – we’re building a life together that’s grounded in strength and resilience.
“At the heart of it, we just want to enjoy the moments we have together – that’s what matters most.”

Mum-of-two pleads GUILTY to killing son, 7, who was found dead at home in ‘tragic’ case
A MUM has pleaded guilty to killing her seven-year-old son after he was found dead at home.
Papaipit Linse, 43, was arrested following the horror in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, in January.
Papaipit Linse has pleaded guilty to murder[/caption]Son Louis was rushed to hospital but declared dead less than two hours later.
Linse appeared at Swansea Crown Court today where she pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
The charge was accepted by prosecutor Caroline Rees KC after reviewing a psychiatric report.
Linse, who was originally charged with murder, is currently being held in custody at the Caswell Clinic, a medium secure mental health unit.
Ms Rees said: “(We) will accept the pleas to manslaughter which we understand is to diminished responsibility.
“No trial will be needed in this case.”
The mum-of-two will be sentenced at the same court on December 13.
Judge Paul Thomas KC said: It’s a sensitive as well as a tragic case.”
The horror unfolded on January 10 when emergency crews were scrambled to the home, which used to be a physiotherapy studio.
Linse was born in Thailand and describes herself on social media as a “Mom and freelancer with two British kids”.
Her husband Edward, 51, is currently in a secure psychiatric hospital after he battered his wife with a Peppa Pig book in 2017.
He also attacked his wealthy parents at their £1.2million Cheshire home following a 40-year grudge.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: “We were called to an address in Upper Market Street at 10.45am on Wednesday, January 10.
“Sadly, a seven-year-old boy was confirmed to have died shortly after. Our thoughts remain with his loved ones at this tragic time.”
Linse will be sentenced on December 13[/caption]
