5 days agoLatest NewsComments Off on Celtic fan calls for ONE MILLION fans to cough up £100 each for HUGE Hoops project
IT’S a topic which crops up every year at the Celtic AGM – and today one Hoops fan this year put a new spin on it.
Michael Nicholson admitted this time two years ago that Celtic had conducted a feasibility study on the costs of increasing the main stand at Parkhead.
Celtic fans have massive spending power[/caption]
The old main stand is dwarved by stands on three other sides of the ground[/caption]
The other three sides of CelticPark were rebuilt in the late 1990s and dwarf the main stand, which with its red brick facade dating back to the 1988 centenary season, is significantly older.
The only problem with all this is the fact that when they asked the question the Hoops were quoted a cool £100m to redevelop the stand in its entirety.
Asked about this at today’s AGM, one Hoops fan came up with the novel suggestion of a crowdfunder with ONE MILLION Celtic fans all stumping up the minimum of £100 each to foot the bill.
The fan said: “I suppose you would be open to suggestions about how to raise capital about how to reach that £100m goal.
“One idea I had was a crowd funder.
“When a season ticket renewal form comes in, you could be asked if you want to pledge a minimum of £100 for a crowdfunder which could be ring fenced put towards redevelopment of the south stand.
“If you think about it, one million Celtic fans contributing £100 and you are going to reach your target. Anything is worth a try.”
While it is an outlandish suggestion – not least because of the logistics involved – there was logic behind it, with the chance to sell more high end seats at the biggest games in the newly expanded Champions League.
And chief executive Michael Nicholson gave it a fair hearing, even if he gave little suggestion of any significant expansion to the stadium any time soon.
He said: “Its an area we’ve thought long and hard about.
“Some parts of the stadium are approaching 100 years old.
“If we were in the SPFL it would be a much easier decision to make.
“We need to think about the long term consequences of investing in infrastructure – which you need to do at a minimum just to maintain the environment versus the expansion rate versus environment, capital expenditure and there’s a lot of challenges round that.
“Balancing football success as well, especially if you are in the Europa League year on year.
“So that’s our kind of thinking medium to long term but we’d never rule anything out in the future.
“The debtmarkets are very difficult as you might imagine. But we will take that on board and figure it in our thinking.”

SIGNED by an F1 legend, the 1973 Plymouth Barracuda could be yours as it goes up for sale on Ebay.
Images show the impressive orange built-to-spec muscle car in beautiful condition.
The interior reveals black leather with monochrome dog-tooth seats and Formula One racer Lando Norris’ signature on the dashboard.
The vehicle has 11,179 miles on the clock and is listed with Cavvecorp on Ebay.
Created by eBay and builders Alex Taylor Racing, the one-off build was created to recognise driver Lando Norris‘ return to the US and outstanding on-track results this season,” states the listing.
The iconic American muscle car was modified with trusted parts and accessories from eBay and debuted in Austin, where the dashboard was autographed by Norris.
The 70s-era muscle car started in near-stock configuration and underwent extensive upgrades before being wrapped in an unmistakable “papaya” orange colour.
Papaya orange has been a trademark of McLaren’s since the late 1960’s.
However, a few tasteful aftermarket touches include a set of period-appropriate 15-inch American Racing wheels.
The four seat cabin is also covered in black from the floor to the headliner.
It also has a classic wooden steering wheel and a faux wood panel centre console.
Finished off with racing-style front bucket seats and a new carpet.
The listing states: “The winning bidder will also receive those parts removed at time of customization including the wheels, tires, seats and steering wheel.”

Park Light Lenses and Bezels, Taillight Lenses and Back-up Lens and Side Markers
The black Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 SC is listed as looking like it has come “out of the box” due to its pristine condition.
The current owner purchased the car four years ago, but rarely drove it and has now decided that due to his age it is time to sell the car.
It is known as one of the most iconic sports cars of the past 50 years with the first ever owner purchasing it for just £20,000.
Over four decades later and the car is expected to fetch a massive amount more than that when it goes under the hammer.
The car is now set to be sold for a third time later this month by Humbert & Ellis Ltd in Daventry, Northants.
Jonathan Humbert, auctioneer at Humbert & Ellis, said: “To find an example of this marque with such low miles represents an incredible buying opportunity for collectors, investors and drivers alike.
“It is to all intents and purposes like a new car and with these low miles it is surely the closest anyone would get to driving such a ‘new’ car from 1981 – but 43 years later, here in 2024.
“Porsche 911s have such wide appeal – and this car will be a favourite amongst favourites.
“It can only be original once – and I would simply say – try finding another.”
The auction takes place on November 28.
History of the Plymouth Barracuda
The Plymouth Barracuda is a two-door pony car.
It’s manufacturer, Chrysler Corporation offered the car from 1964 to 1974.
There are three generations of the car.
The first generation was based on the Chrysler A-body and offered from 1964 to 1966.
The second generation was massively redesigned and offered from 1967 to 1969.
The third generation was offered from 1970 to 1974. It was a completely new design but based on the Chrysler E-body and Dodge Challenger.

A TERRIFYING video shows the moment a Russian hypersonic missile soared through the atmosphere before hitting its target in eastern Ukraine.
Footage shows the new 7,600mph Oreshnik hypersonic missile ripping through the night sky[/caption]
The missile left an eerie trail in the atmosphere as it continued its deadly journey to Dnipro[/caption]
At one point in the clip, viewers can see the moment it pierces through the atmosphere as it breaks the sound barrier[/caption]
The clip shared on social media shows the ballistic missile travelling through the night sky in Russia before reaching the city of Dnipro in Ukraine.
The medium-range rocket left a stream of white smoke in its wake as it propelled itself forward to reach its target.
It travels at Mach 10 with a speed of 7,600 mph which is faster than the speed of sound.
At one point in the video, a vapour ring appears as the missile rips through the night sky.
Another angle shown from almost directly beneath the missile shows the wide vapour trail being left by the missile.
The missile shattered Ukrainian defences and dropped a cluster bomb of warheads on Dnipro early on Thursday morning.
Russia’s terrifying new rocket is defined as an IRBM or an intermediate-range ballistic missile.
The launch sparked fears of nuclear war after The Pentagon stated that while the Kremlin fired the Oreshnik with traditional warheads, it could be modified to carry nuclear weaponry instead.
“It could be refitted to certainly carry different types of conventional or nuclear warheads,” spokesperson Sabrina Singh warned.
The US National Security Council attempted to quash fears by stating that Russia likely only has a few of these “experimental” missiles and not enough to be a game-changer in the conflict.
But, the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Ukraine has since warned that there will be at least 10 of these missiles as Russia continues to test the weaponry.
Vadym Skibitskyi said: “If this is research and combat use, then there will be at least ten missiles.”
In an address to his nation on Thursday, Putin spoke with pride about the capabilities of his latest weapon and how nothing can counteract it.
Russian sources have claimed the missile has a range of 5,000km which could see it reach the West Coast of the US and most of Europe.
Russia dropped six separate warheads on the Yuzhmash defence plant in Dnipro[/caption]
Ukrainian officials shot down six of the seven missiles launched by Russia and confirmed that there was no significant damage caused or casualties[/caption]
The Russian attack on Thursday began at 5 am in response to Ukraine’s use of US and UK weaponry inside Russia[/caption]
Putin has since threatened to attack the US and the UK after Zelensky’s use of their weaponry[/caption]
5 days agoLatest NewsComments Off on The festive getaway voted European Capital of Christmas with €3 booze, 33ft illuminated Ferris wheel & open-air ice rink
THE snow is thick underfoot in the medieval Czech city of Brno as this bearded bloke in a cossack hat and a magnificent fur coat plays his clarinet on the open air Christmas Market stage in Freedom Square.
Behind him a bunch of burly bruisers punch the air happily as they belt out patriotic Ukrainian folk songs.
I am amazed though that, with the temperature five degrees below zero, one chap is beaming happily despite only wearing a flimsy white shirt and a traditional embroidered waistcoat.
Then I watch him reach inside his pocket, pull out a little flask, take a huge swig and stagger a little as he offers it to his mates before, with a huge grin, stowing it safely away again.
Well, booze is half the fun in Brno, nestling in the heart of the country’s wine-growing South Moravia region. Especially at the Christmas Market, spread across four city centre squares.
Hundreds of stalls sell mulled wine, punch, grog, mead and all kinds of alcoholic concoctions.
Tullamore Dew is a big favourite, while one stand advertises Dublin Punch – a rather heady blend of whiskey and cider, flavoured with ginger and various spices.
At 75 crowns, or €3, for a large mug, it’s just the job to warm me up as the snow starts swirling down again. But I daren’t risk a second!
There’s a splendid array of food, too. Chestnuts roast on braziers, while clouds of smoke waft into the air as giant sausages sizzle away on barbecues.
There are salamis as long as my forearm and some scrumptious crisp potato pancakes whose name, after supping that Dublin Punch, I forget.
But the market is not all about food and drink.
There’s a huge range of gifts on sale too – handknitted scarves, jumpers, gloves and mittens, kiddies’ finger puppets, wooden toys, quirky jewellery and pottery, colourful candles, jars of honeyinfused marmalade, chocolates, Christmas baubles, wine (South Moravia claims theirs are as fine as anything from neighbouring Austria) and much, much more.
Next to an open-air skating rink is a huge 33ft illuminated Ferris wheel, a life-size carved nativity scene, a kids’ petting zoo and, to add magic, a colourful Christmas-decorated tram running back and forth through the city.
So little wonder the city, nestling in the shadow of the imposing 13th century Spilberk Castle, was voted this year’s European Capital of Christmas.
But, modestly, locals admit they can really only offer visitors the SECOND best Christmas in the world.
“Second,” my smiling guide Martina explains, “to the Christmas you spend at home!”
This year’s festivities start on Friday and run until December 23, and it’s worth checking out some of the other markets in surrounding villages and towns, like the extremely picturesque but impossible to pronounce Znojmo.
You can fly direct to Brno, but most visitors, like me, head first for Prague before taking one of the frequent trains south.
There’s plenty to see in Prague, with medieval Charles Bridge spanning the Vltava River and the 15th century astronomical clock in the heart of the Old Town Square.
Crowds gather each hour to watch wooden statues of the 12 apostles appear, surrounded by four figures representing Lust, Vanity, Greed and Death.
GO: BRNO
FLY THERE: Aer Lingus and Ryanair both fly direct to Prague, with trains going from there to Brno.
STAY THERE: I recommend the very comfortable Miss Sophie’s Downtown hotel. In Brno I stopped at the central Hotel Passage and in Znojmo, as more snow fell, at the cosy Hotel Clemar.

Meta in Valorant is constantly evolving, and the credit goes to Riot, who regularly makes adjustments to the agents, maps, and weapons. These changes usually give every agent their time to shine at the top of the meta. However, for a long while, Phoenix had been left in the shadows. That is, until patch 9.10, […]
