Y’all are not ready for this. Ashlee Simpson’s son Bronx — who she welcomed with ex-husband Pete Wentz in 2008 (but it feels like yesterday) — now stands at least a head taller than his ultra-famous mama.
Simpson posted a sweet birthday tribute for her eldest on Instagram because — in case you didn’t already do the math — he’s celebrating his Sweet 16! (Already!)
In the opening photo, the two stand outdoors under a pergola with string lights. The teen towers over Simpson (5’7″) who rests her head on his shoulder. And it wasn’t a fluke! In a recent family photo, Bronx looks like he could be just as tall as his 6’1″ stepdad Evan Ross with whom Simpson shares young daughters Ziggy and Jagger.
“Being your mom has been the greatest joy of my life,” Simpson captioned her heartfelt post. “You are my rock my soul. My ride or die. You have been the greatest blessing in life that I could have ever dreamed of. I would not be me without you.”
“Thank you for choosing me to be a mom, and YOUR mom,” she continued. “You are so calm, consistent, brilliant, loving, kind hearted, thoughtful, funny, mysterious, and incredibly awesome.”
The singer also included throwback photos in her carousel including one of her bare baby bump, a precious newborn shot, and a candid of a young Bronx walking her down the aisle. The post was set to “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley which Simpson revealed was playing when her eldest was born.
“I thank God every day that I get to be your mom. You are a true gift to this universe and I’m so lucky you are my very grown, and cool baby… happy 16th birthday. I love you … Thank you for making me the luckiest.”
Followers flooded Simpson’s comments with good wishes and couldn’t help but remark on how big Bronx has gotten. “I can’t believe how grown up he is!!!” “TIMEEEE FLIESSSSS 🥹❤️❤️❤️❤️”
But his height wasn’t the only thing that caught their attention. They were also hung up on just how much he looked like his dad. “He legit is @petewentz ‘s doppelganger 😍,” one person said. “Stawwwp. He looks soo much like Pete!!” another said. And it’s true! Bronx got his face directly from his dad, although he must tower over the 5’6″ Fall Out Boy musician too.
These celebrity parents are sharing the struggle — and sweetness — of raising teenagers.
