Uncharted is a video game series widely appreciated by gamers, especially those who have owned a PlayStation console since the PS3. The series creator, Amy Hennig, is considered a trailblazer in the video game industry.
In a recent interview, the creator spoke about how Naughty Dog fostered a culture of creative freedom for video game directors. A case in point was a minute detail from a game in the series that was a nod to another hit Naughty Dog franchise.
Amy Hennig Talks About The Last of Us Tease in Uncharted 3
Naughty Dog’s action-adventure video game series led by Nathan Drake had the player spend a part of their time performing adventurous maneuvers. The rest of the playthrough involved gunfights and other chaotic situations that Drake and his team had to diffuse.
In a game like that, the player isn’t expected to stop and look around for minor details and easter eggs. However, gamers have spotted an unofficial teaser for the studio’s next game after Uncharted 3.

In a recent interview, Amy Hennig talked about this exact detail from the game and told VentureBeat:
I think Naughty Dog has always been good at attention to detail…There was the famous newspaper in the bar in Uncharted 3 that actually foreshadowed The Last of Us…talking about an outbreak. I guess that implies that Nathan Drake and his buddies are all dead.
She also elaborated to say that someone had to take the time to make that newspaper and put it in a discoverable place in the game. Moreover, the same bar where Nathan Drake finds this newspaper is also seen in the zombie-survival game by the video game company.
Amy Hennig on the Contrast and Similarity Between Tomb Raider and Uncharted
Most gamers would agree that there is a lot in common between Lara Croft and Nathan Drake. Especially because the two began as video game protagonists, there were a lot of parallels drawn between them.
When asked if she ever considered making Nathan Drake a girl instead, Amy Hennig replied: (VentureBeat)
We deliberately chose to have a guy, not a woman, because it would feel like we were invading that [Tomb Raider’s] territory. She was this aspirational, acrobatic, James Bond character, so we made ours a little hapless, a little clumsy, more like Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones.
The last game starring Nathan Drake saw the adventurer metaphorically hang up his cape and cowl. It’s not known if the players will get to step into his shoes again. However, as seen in The Lost Legacy, that might not mean that it will be the end for the video game series, too.
