Be it Angelina Jolie’s appearance on the red carpet with daughter Zahara, or Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ absence from the event. One huge happy news that came out of it, though, was the report of the MCU’s Spider-Man stars Tom Holland and Zendaya’s engagement.
While that elated fans endlessly, another surprising Amazing Spider-Man reunion had them feeling bittersweet. That is, of course, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s meeting during the event.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone started dating when they co-starred in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man, as the masked web-slinger and Gwen Stacy. Unfortunately, like their predecessor Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, their romance turned out to be doomed and the pair split in 2015.
Fans, though, remained hopeful for their reunion for years, they seemed to have moved on. Although that wish never came to fruition, they remained friends throughout the years. Andrew Garfield said in an interview with Vanity Fair back in 2017 that they still had unconditional love and care for each other.
We care about each other so much, and that’s a given, that’s kind of this unconditional thing. And there’s so much love between us and so much respect.
Their friendship came back into the spotlight during Garfield’s feature in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire. The news of the past Spider-Men’s appearance in the movie was strictly kept a secret.
If the Under The Banner of Heaven star is to be believed, even by his co-star, Stone, whose clip was actually used in the movie. He stated in an episode of the Happy Sad Podcast in 2022, that Stone apparently kept texting him asking whether he would appear in the movie.
I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about!’ She was like, ‘Shut up, just tell me,’ And like, I honestly…I kept it going, even with her, it’s hilarious. And then she saw it and was like, ‘You’re a jerk!’
According to Elle, the former couple had another viral moment in December of 2023, when Andrew Garfield was spotted at the London premiere of Stone’s movie Poor Things.
As such, their meeting during the Golden Globes 2025 was not exactly a surprise, given their seemingly amicable relationship. However, fans were still a bit bittersweet at the exchange of the Hollywood A-listers.

Thankfully, they have remained friends, even years after and their candid moments captured during Golden Globes 2025 came as proof of that. The former couple ran into each other while arriving on the red carpet where they were spotted laughing together, with the La La Land star’s husband Dave McCary as their companion.
The photo, captured and posted on photographer Greg Williams’ Instagram quickly went viral. Inevitably, fans went into a frenzy about the exes’ cheerful meet-up. With people calling it their Roman empire, and wondering if it is even real, the photo has been a hot topic for netizens for the last couple of days.

What seems to have made fans even more wistful about the situation was MCU’s Spider-Man Tom Holland and Zendaya’s engagement reports after the event. Zendaya, who plays MJ in the movies to Holland’s Peter Parker, have been dating for years, and the actress was seen flaunting a massive sparkler on her left-hand ring finger at the event.
TMZ reported a confirmation of the speculations after the clips went viral on the internet. As such, the meeting of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone at the same event seems to have brought back memories for many. Although the romance did not work out between the co-stars, fans seem happy that they have managed to remain friends still.
