A Working Man: Jason Statham’s New Movie Combines Taken, John Wick and The Equalizer for Twice the Fun, Thrice the Action

It has been almost a year since we heard about what veteran actor Jason Statham was up to. Back in 2024, Statham worked alongside Suicide Squad director David Ayer for a film called The Beekeeper. Well, this year… he’s back.

The actor had been working alongside director David Ayer once again for a film titled A Working Man. The first trailer for the upcoming film has been released and fans are already going crazy over it.

Jason Statham is now a beekeeper turned construction worker

It seems that Jason Statham had a blast working with Ayer in the 2024 film The Beekeeper. As a result, the two collaborated again for another film that seems to be a mish-mash of things.

Not necessarily a bad thing but A Working Man (which is the title of Statham and Ayer’s upcoming project) seems to have been inspired by a number of things and movies.

The first trailer for A Working Man was released, and fans are already impressed by the action scenes and cinematography of it all. Check out the trailer below:

With a storyline of a girl getting kidnapped for human trafficking, Jason Statham goes full Taken-mode to get the girl back for his employee, who is like family to him.

The film seems to be a mix of John Wick (with his one-man army style), The Equalizer (a protagonist leaving behind a terrible past), and Taken (self-explanatory). Despite the combination, fans are still impressed with the trailer and are very excited about it.

The script was written by Sylvester Stallone and David Ayer and that’s already a winning point for the movie. However, A Working Man isn’t the only flick that has gotten people sitting on the edge of their chairs.

Fans received a hopeful update about Jason Statham’s Hobbs & Shaw

It was the year 2019 when a spin-off of the Fast & Furious franchise titled Hobbs & Shaw was released. Although the film was a commercial success, a sequel was put on hold for a while due to some issues.

The film saw the iconic pairing of Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in leading roles and their chemistry was on-point. The world has waited for quite a long time to see the two stars pair up for a second time.

In an interview, Hobbs & Shaw writer Chris Morgan revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that Hobbs & Shaw 2 is in development.

While it sounds like it’s too early to be trying to pinpoint any kind of official release date for a potential Hobbs and Shaw 2, it’s undeniably exciting to know that the film is at least still in development, especially knowing that the main Fast & Furious franchise will end with the next installment.

Sounds like good news indeed. On the other hand, it seems likely that Jason Statham will continue working with David Ayer until they have portrayed every type of employee.

All jokes aside, A Working Man is one of the most anticipated movies of 2025 especially with Jason Statham returning back for some more action. The film is set for a release date of 28 March, 2025 in the U.S.
