There Could Be Another Huge Reason Addison Rae is Steering Clear of a Britney Spears’ Biopic

Britney Spears’ journey in the music industry is nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, which is one for the storybooks, and it appears the execs at Universal recognized the potential of bringing her story to the silver screen. Back in August, it was disclosed that the industry giant landed the rights to Spears’ memoir, The Woman in Me, which shed light on her struggles throughout her run in the realm of music.

While it can’t be said for certain who’ll be on Universal’s radar for an adaptation of the acclaimed memoir, TikTok influencer Addison Rae is certainly not considering the potential job.

After battling the hate train following her rise as a TikTok influencer, Addison Rae’s career faced a resurgence after she shifted to creating music, contributing to her involvement in the discourse surrounding Spears’ biopic. However, the Obsessed singer was quick to dispel the possibility of playing Britney Spears, adding (via IHeart) “I honestly don’t think anyone deserves to play her”,

Elaborating on it, Rae expressed that Spears’ influence in pop culture, whose grit in the face of overwhelming odds has continued to resonate with fans, is untouched, adding “I don’t even think it’s right to compare me to her at all”.

I think she really, really created something that is untouchable and so in its own lane that nobody will ever truly be able to replicate what she did for music, and even the entertainment industry I feel. I support anything and everything that Britney Spears ever wants to do in her life and career, and I think she’ll have the best opinion on who she thinks that should be.

She isn’t wrong, as similar to Batman castings, the actor, who’d be eventually brought in to fill her shoes will potentially end up facing backlash from fans if they don’t have the seal of approval from the Toxic singer.

On the bright side, it seems Spears is very much involved in the production of The Woman in Me‘s adaptation, which is currently in works at Universal (via Variety). Moreover, the singer gushed about the involvement of producer Marc Platt in the feature, alongside director Jon M. Chu, stressing that Platt has “always made my favorite movies”.

Taking to X, she shared:

Although time will tell what the future holds for the potential biopic, given the reception to her memoir, it’s safe to say fans of the pop icon will not be content with anything less than perfection.
