Naruto‘s popularity was a result of its compelling characters, especially the central duo of Naruto and Sasuke. For many fans, they’re the sole reason to stay up-to-date with Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga. Ever since the time-skip, both of them have been sidelined and sealed away.
Sasuke has been an integral part of Boruto’s journey, arguably even more so than Naruto. It has been more than a year since he last appeared in the manga. Fans have been eagerly waiting for his potential return, but to no avail.
What Happened to Sasuke in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Was Unfair
At the end of the Naruto series, Naruto and Sasuke were the strongest beings. They were significantly nerfed in Boruto to pave the way for the next generation to shine. Even though his strength was not the same anymore, Sasuke helped Boruto in several ways.
At the end of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, the whole village turned against Boruto, and Sasuke decided to trust him because of Sarada. Sasuke and Boruto trained together during the time skip, and fans hoped for them to return with a bang. However, it was revealed that Sasuke had turned into a divine tree due to a Claw Grime’s bite.
He’s still alive but absent from the main developments. Saving him and Naruto has become Boruto’s main goal in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. However, fans are not happy with Sasuke being sidelined like this. Considering his massive popularity among fans, it’s understandable why fans want him to return soon.
No End in Sight to Fans’ Agonizing Wait
Sidelining Naruto and Sasuke seemed to be the only way to let Boruto shine on his own. But, Sasuke has lost his rinnegan and most of his powers, so he was basically reduced to a much weaker form of himself. It’s a blatant disrespect to the character and everything he has achieved in the story thus far.
However, it needs to be noted that Sasuke’s potential return is a good way to keep fans hooked on the story while letting Boruto have his time to shine. Fans are tired of waiting for Sasuke and are wondering what has happened to Boruto‘s plot progression. They’ve even come up with an interesting name for the character to find humor in the situation he finds himself in.

The monthly schedule makes fans more impatient with every subsequent chapter. However, there’s a silver lining to this ordeal as fans believe that Sasuke might return in a better form than before. Half of his body is hidden which could mean that the divine tree’s chakra is healing his body.
It’s hard to tell exactly how plausible this theory is, but if it turns out to be true, Sasuke will be a menace in the final fight. But, for now his potential return is nowhere in sight, and the agonizing wait will continue to make fans restless.
