Man charged with murder after body found inside burnt-out Scots home

A MAN has been charged with murder after a body was found inside a burnt-out Scots home.

Emergency services raced to a blaze on Lady Street in Annan at around 6.55 am on Tuesday, November 19.

Gabriel Brown, 33, appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court today charged with murder[/caption]

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire.

The body of a 58-year-old man was found within the property and his family has since been made aware.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with his death.

Gabriel Brown, of Dumfries and Galloway, faced charges of murder and wilful fire-raising at Dumfries Sheriff Court today.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

Brown is expected to make another court appearance next week.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told STV: “Around 6.55am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, we were made aware of a fire at a property in Lady Street, Annan.

“Emergency services attended, and the fire was extinguished. The body of a man was found within and his family have been made aware. A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death, and enquiries are at an early stage. A joint investigation with the SFRS is ongoing.”

Elsewhere, in a separate incident, a man appeared in court charged with murdering a woman in a Lanarkshire flat.

The 21-year-old woman was discovered fatally injured in East Kilbride.


It is reported she was found with severe wounds to her head and neck.
