It probably won’t be an exaggeration to say that the glitzy world of Hollywood sees more failed relationships than blockbuster films. And 2024 has been particularly tumultuous. And are disheartened and shocked when the relationship comes to an end. This is not to say it is not a year-round phenomenon, but Fall is the season when celebrities end their relationships. Hence, Fall saw the most breakups this year as well.
Several high-profile breakups happened that no one saw coming. From long-term marriages to newer flames fizzling out, here are 40 Hollywood couples who broke up in 2024.
1. Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez
“Bennifer” fans were beyond overjoyed when the stars rekindled their years-old romance in 2021. The early 2000s saw Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez become one of the most popular couples in Hollywood. However, their epic romance ended shortly before JLo was to walk down the alter.
Twenty years later, when Lopez posted a picture of her and Affleck kissing the fans of the couple went crazy. They wed in Las Vegas in 2022. However, Lopez filed for divorce without an attorney in August 2024. A source revealed (via People) that the singer “tried hard to make things work, and is heartbroken”.
2. Channing Tatum & Zoë Kravitz
In October 2023, People broke the news that the former couple were engaged after being together for two years. A year later several other outlets reported that the couple had ended their engagement.
After both Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz had gotten out of years-long marriages, they started seeing each other in 2021. Their romance began when Tatum worked in Kravitz’s directorial debut Pussy Space, which was later renamed Blink Twice.
Save for some social media activity and a couple of red-carpet appearances, the former couple was notoriously private about their relationship. Amidst the talk of them taking the next step, the news of their breaking up came out of the blue.
3. Rachel Zoe & Rodger Berman
Famed fashion designer and celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe ended her marriage with Rodger Berman, her husband of 26 years, in September 2024. The former power couple of fashion are co-owners of their company Rachel Zoe Inc. And sources have cited the mixing up of personal and professional lives as one of the major factors of the marriage collapsing.
The college sweethearts became household names with their Bravo reality TV show, The Rachel Zoe Project, and Lifetime’s Fashionably Late With Rachel Zoe. They have two sons named sons Skyler and Kaius. The former couple announced their divorce with a joint statement via Rachel Zoe’s Instagram.
4. Halle Bailey & DDG
Singer-actress Halle Bailey and rapper DDG announced their breakup in October, months after welcoming their son Halo earlier in January. In April, there were some rumors about the former couple separating when they unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted most posts with each other in it. Six months later, DDG announced the couple’s split via Instagram story.
The couple were together for two years, made multiple red-carpet appearances, and showed each other off on Instagram. After the birth of their son, fans expected the couple to take the next step in their relationship. But they instead got shocked by the breakup announcement.
5. Andrew Garfield & Dr. Kate Tomas
In October 2024, Dr. Kate Tomas confirmed her split with Hollywood actor Andrew Garfield when an Instagram user questioned her about the relationship. The philosopher answered (via People):

6. Natalie Portman & Benjamin Millepied
Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman & choreographer Benjamin Millepied have been officially divorced as of February 2024. The Black Swan actress had applied for the same last year in July in France, where the couple lived with their two children, son Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, 7.
It was reported (via the New York Post) in May 2023 that Millepied had an extramarital affair, which was “short-lived” but ended up breaking the marriage. The separation, like much of the couple’s life together was kept strictly under-the-radar. Sources close to the couple suggest that they’re busy with several projects and are focusing on a smooth transition towards a new normal for their kids.
7. Ben Foster & Laura Prepon
X-Men: The Last Stand actor Ben Foster filed for a divorce in October from That ’70s Show alum Laura Prepon. In his complaint, Foster said, per LA Times that both he and Prepon “suffered irreconcilable differences” and “are unable to live together successfully as husband and wife.”
Foster and Prepon were married for six years and have two children, a daughter Ella, born in 2017, and a son born in 2020, whose name they have not publicly disclosed.
8. Joe Jonas & Stormi Bree
While working through his divorce from Sophie Turner, singer Joe Jonas began dating model Stormi Bree in January 2024. However, the romance was short-lived and came to an end in June.
Per People, the former couple was first spotted in Aspen, Colorado spending New Year’s Day with friends. This was just a few months after Jonas had filed for divorce from Turner, his wife of four years. Neither Jonas nor Bree, ever posted each other on their social media but their posts and activities suggested them being in the same place. Bree seemingly accompanied the Jonas brothers on the Australian leg of the tour.
9. Chance The Rapper & Kirsten Corley
Chance The Rapper has divorced his wife Kirsten Corley after five years of marriage and over a decade together. The former couple tied the knot in 2019 after being together for nearly six years. In a joint statement they posted on their Instagram story, Chance and Corley said that they are splitting on amicable terms.
The former couple share two daughters, Kensli, 8, and Marli, 4, who they will continue to co-parent.
10. Billy Ray Cyrus & Firerose
Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose settled their divorce after seven months of marriage this August. The decision came three months after Cyrus, 62, had filed for divorce. (via People) Cyrus’s filing of divorce from Firerose (previously known as Johanna Hodges), 36 cited irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the reason for divorce.
Cyrus and Firerose had met through a musical collaboration in 2021. And they tied the knot in October 2023. The former couple’s age gap drew a lot of attention as Cyrus is 28 years Firerose’s senior.
11. Cardi B & Offset
In August 2024, Cardi B yet again filed for divorce from her husband of six years, Migos rapper Offset. Since their secret marriage in 2017, Cardi B and Offset have had a tumultuous relationship. During the entire course of their marriage, the couple separated and reconciled several times. This time though, Cardi B has filed for primary custody of her children. While speaking with fans on X Spaces, Cardi B said that this time the former couple is not getting back together (via Billboard).
Weeks after the WAP singer filed for divorce, the duo welcomed their third child, a daughter into the world. Cardi B shared images and videos of herself cradling the baby on Instagram.
12. Sutton Foster & Ted Griffin
Sutton Foster has filed for divorce from Ted Griffin, her husband of nearly a decade. As per the documents filed in the New York County Supreme Court, the Tony Award winner is seeking a no-contested divorce (via Yahoo).
The Broadway star had tied the knot with the Ocean’s Eleven screenwriter in October 2014. After facing fertility issues, the couple adopted a daughter, Emily, 7.
There have been rumors of Foster being romantically involved with her Music Man co-star Hugh Jackman, who has also recently separated from his wife. Although the alleged association is under wraps, several sources have reported that the co-stars are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together.
13. Zach Bryan & Brianna LaPaglia
The Zach Bryan & Brianna LaPaglia split is one of the messiest breakups this year. The country singer announced the breakup via Instagram story, citing some severe personal struggles as the reason for the breakup. However, LaPaglia later claimed to have been cheated on “her whole relationship” (via People). The model also said that Bryan had his previous girlfriends sign non-disclosure agreements and offered her $12 million to keep her quiet about the details of the relationship.

15. KJ Apa and Clara Berry
After being together for almost four years, Riverdale alum KJ Apa and French model Clara Berry have called it quits. Berry confirmed this on her TikTok in February when a fan asked her about it.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Garcia filed for divorce following the DWTS pro’s arrest due to inflicting domestic violence on her. Neither he nor Garcia has commented on the arrest or the split. 21. Leah Remini & Angelo Pagán
Another relationship on the Fall breakups bandwagon is the decades-long marriage of Leah Remini & Angelo Pagán. The couple separated in August and finalized their uncontested divorce in October. They announced their separation through a lengthy joint Instagram post.

22. Jax Taylor & Brittany Cartwright
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright have officially separated after five years of marriage. Cartwright filed for divorce in August, following their separation in May, citing irreconcilable differences. There were some rumors that cheating was the reason that the couple decided to split but both of them denied this.
Per Cosmopolitan, Cartwright cited a lack of physical intimacy as the reason to call it quits. And Taylor explained that he was in a very bad place, mentally, to work on their marriage.
