“I’m crazy about her”: Practical Magic 2 Sounds Promising After Nicole Kidman Gushes Over Sandra Bullock as Her Witch Co-Star

Nicole Kidman is an icon in the world of Hollywood for a reason. Bringing a layer of mystery to her roles while simultaneously seeming like the most welcoming person in any cast, the actress is almost paradoxical with her acting. From recent works like Babygirl to older classic projects like Moulin Rouge, she is ingrained into the very fabric of the film industry.

While there are more than a few iconic works that Kidman has starred in her career, there is one film that caters to a completely different audience. In 1998, she starred in Practical Magic alongside Sandra Bullock. The film was so iconic that it is currently getting a sequel.

However, this is not surprising considering the rare dynamic that Kidman and Bullock shared.

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock Were Actually Like Sisters

Nicole Kidman recently gave an interview with British GQ, where she took a trip down memory lane and looked back at all of her iconic works over the years. Naturally, among them was Practical Magic, with the actress being specifically asked why she decided to join the cast of the project.

Being blatant about her answer, she revealed that she joined the film because of Sandra Bullock. She then elaborated on her answer, revealing that she had read the novel that the film was based on, and confessed that she always wanted to be a witch.

I read the novel and went, ‘Cool I’ve always wanted to be a witch,’ and I want to be her sister. [It’s] that simple.

Although her childhood dreams could not come true in real life, the actress could at least pretend to be one. She then started to specifically focus on her co-star in the project. She revealed that a bigger reason why she wanted to join the project was because she was very fascinated by Bullock and desperately wanted to play her sister in a project.

She’s sharp, she’s funny and, you know, she’s very private, Sandy. You don’t really know much about her, but she’s just fantastic. I’m crazy about her. I have a sister and she has a sister. So that thread is in there. Like the sisters, you’ve got each other’s back, and we’re together. So, Sandy and I both understood that and feel it with our own sisters. Yeah, [she’s] my sister witch,

Kidman added that when she was making the film, both she and her co-star felt a level of understanding with each other, having “each other’s back” and feeling like sisters in real life.

Practical Magic 2 Looks Promising

There is no denying that the way that Nicole Kidman described her dynamic and fascination with Sandra Bullock makes them seem like real-life sisters. Considering how close they seemed to have been on the set of the first Practical Magic film, a sequel would only help explore this dynamic even more.

Even though the first film was released in 1998, it was recently announced that a sequel is currently in the works. During an interview with People, Kidman confirmed the rumors and confessed that both she and Bullock are reviving their roles and coming back.

Yes I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that’s that.

With how close Kidman and Bullock seemed to have gotten during the making of the first movie, fans cannot help but be glad that they are getting another opportunity to play sisters again.

Practical Magic is available for streaming on Apple TV.
