MICHAEL BEALE has launched a veiled attack on “snakes” who undermined him as a manager.
The former Rangers boss has been out of management since he was sacked by Sunderland in February of this year.

During his time at Ibrox, Beale led the Light Blues to the League Cup final and the Scottish Cup final but they lost both to Celtic.
His team also finished a clear second behind Ange Postecoglou‘s Hoops in the 2022-23 Scottish Premiership.
Brendan Rodgers took over at Parkhead and helped maintain the Hoops’ dominance, with Beale sacked in October 2023 as his side trailed Celts in the league following three losses in their first seven games.
Beale, 44, has managed Queens Park Rangers, Rangers and Sunderland and prior to those dugout stints he was an assistant coach to Steven Gerrard at Gers and Aston Villa.
He reckons his own managerial roles have been adversely affected by people not within his immediate coaching circle.
Speaking on the Inside the Academy podcast, Beale said: “Around a couple of the moves I’ve had as a manager, I saw loads of snakes and people come out of the woodwork. And I didn’t like it.
“It made me uncomfortable, and perhaps I would’ve made better decisions if those people weren’t around, but that’s for another time.
“Ultimately, I’m very, very fortunate that I’ve been a manager at QPR, Glasgow Rangers, 52,000, Sunderland, 44,000 in the Championship.
“I’ve worked in the Premier League, I’ve worked in Serie A and I’ve worked in over 60 games in Europe across the Europa League and Champions League.
“So I have 257 games in the system, 77 games as a manager and at 44 years of age I feel like I’m at the start of my career. In that sense, I still feel like I’m a young coach.”
Meanwhile, former Gers striker Kris Boyd has blasted the Ibrox club’s decision to promote Nils Koppen to the new role of technical director.
He insists the Belgian has done NOTHING to earn it and criticised his record during his run as head of recruitment in Govan.
Boyd said: “I’ve got to be honest, I just feel as if it’s what the fans are saying. I just feel it’s what the fans are saying and it seems the right thing to say for Koppen.
“You only need to look on social media, this is not an appointment the fans are enamoured with. They’re not looking at it saying ‘we’re absolutely delighted.
“You’ve got to earn the right to that promotion. There’s nothing to suggest that Nils Koppen has earned this.
“He might be a good guy, you’re telling me he’s highly thought of behind the scenes. Right now the fans only see what has come through the door and its not been good enough. It’s not been good enough.
“The recruitment is a million miles away from where it should be.”
