Lauren Stamile is best known for playing Nurse Rose on the ABC series Grey’s Anatomy, but her stay in the show was short-lived due to the nature of her character being just another obstacle to the show’s main OTP or one true pairing.
Even though she only appeared in a couple of episodes, Stamile was lucky enough to share a kiss with Patrick Dempsey, the actor who portrayed Derek Shepherd. There’s just one tiny inconvenience during their romantic scene that the actress regrets.
Lauren Stamile Didn’t Like One Thing About Her Kissing Scene with Patrick Dempsey
Serving a guest role for Grey’s Anatomy is indeed a privilege for many stars, and Lauren Stamile managed to book a gig after acquiring some acting credits in the past. The hit medical drama television series has been running since 2005 and it consists of 21 seasons.
In the book How to Save a Life: The Inside Story of Grey’s Anatomy, Stamile gushed over her first meeting with Patrick Dempsey, and she recalled feeling nervous and excited at the same time. Good thing the actor made sure she felt comfortable around him.
As Stamile was thrown in the middle of the story, she got caught up in a love triangle which fans evidently did not like. Her character ended up having a fling with Shepherd which led to physical contact. She shared her experience kissing Dempsey, but she also had one complaint about it.
I got to kiss Patrick twice. The first episode we kissed, I was in my scrubs and had on that scrubs hat. I was like, ‘Oh, geez! Could you put me in something nicer? Could my hair at least be out?’
Well, not being in your best dress while sharing a romantic moment with someone is truly not fun, but for Stamile, kissing scenes are generally not as fun as everyone thought. “They’re really embarrassing and awkward,” she confessed. Still, the actress praised her costar for being professional about their scenes and making sure there’s no uneasy feeling between them.
Stamile admitted wanting to stay longer on the show, but she understood that her character served its purpose. The fans did not like Nurse Rose for Shepherd, and they just had to give it to the audience. “The best decision for her was just to exit,” said the actress about her role.
Lauren Stamile Knew Nurse Rose’s Effect on Grey’s Anatomy
Stamile was aware of the magnitude her character would bring on the show even if she only played a small role. She recalled feeling intimidated acting opposite Dempsey and even joining the cast on set of a hugely beloved franchise. She told Loving Series, “When I realized that I was going to be the person coming in between Meredith and Derek, I didn’t like me!”
Nurse Rose helped shape the love story of Meredith and Derek, and Stamile was happy with her experience in the show. Season 22 is not yet confirmed, although the series remains a popular franchise so fans can only hope!
Grey’s Anatomy is currently available to watch on ABC.
