New home, new hairstyle! Ellen DeGeneres, who recently moved to the U.K. with wife Portia de Rossi, is enjoying a dramatic hair transformation to go along with her life across the pond. Fans who are used to her blonde hair will now notice that she’s a brunette.
The 66-year-old comedian was spotted in a clip posted on Nov. 13 by the U.K. pub, The Farmer’s Dog, on Instagram. DeGeneres and de Rossi enjoyed music by The Corrs while hanging out with other celebrity friends, including James Blunt and Natalie Imbruglia. The camera panned over to the couple in a booth and that’s when DeGeneres’ fresh color made its debut. She looked relaxed and happy as she gave a friendly wave to the camera. On Wednesday, Nov. 20, The Wrap revealed that the former talk show host moved to the Cotswolds, a rural area of south-central England. Her Montecito estate has “been pocket-listed or will be listed soon” as she and de Rossi prepare to make the U.K. their full-time home after the results of the 2024 presidential election — no Donald Trump for them!
DeGeneres’ move overseas was clarified by a People source who shared insider details about their real estate move. “Ellen was in England house hunting at the beginning of October. “She ended up finding a house that she loved and purchased it shortly after,” they said. She will be in good company with other celebrities who also call the Cotswolds home, including Elizabeth Hurley, Kate Moss, and King Charles III.
The last few years have marked major changes in DeGeneres’ life as she wrapped up The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May 2022 after 19 seasons — and plenty of controversy surrounding an alleged toxic work environment. She also filmed her final comedy special for Netflix, Ellen’s Last Stand…Up tour, which aired in July 2024. “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done,” she promised to a San Francisco audience in July, per SF Gate.
It sounds like DeGeneres is starting a fresh chapter in her life: retirement, a new home, and a dramatic hair transformation. It’s the perfect way to start 2025!
